We wanted to share some updates on what’s been happening behind the scenes as it’s been a couple of weeks since the last dev blog! We’ll keep it short and sweet, but a ton of progress has been made and we’re excited to release the next update soon! Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to!
Swimming
Testing and progress on the new swimming system has just about wrapped up and we are planning for this to be released in the next patch. We’ve worked on polishing the swim mechanic as well as drowning out a few pesky bugs that came up during testing over the past week! With the release of swimming, you’ll be able to access the expanded island areas of the map which will provide players with new areas to explore and build their bases. We’ve also implemented new items including sea sponges, coral, and more!
Map Updates
As was mentioned in the previous dev blog, several map updates have been ongoing and we anticipate them being released with the next patch. Here’s a few sneak peaks of some of the island areas that were recently polished, along with Bakersfield Farms which was featured during our developer streams this week.
Snow Weather Update
We have also updated the snow system in game adding new textures to really bring the world alive during the cold seasons. Here’s a couple of sneak peaks from the farms during snowy conditions!
Helmet Skins
We’ve also been working on the helmet cosmetics system. Which will be available in this next update, country themed helmet skins will be available in the shop. Let us know what country you would like to see!

Community Poll - Changes to Global Stash On PVE Servers
Hello Survivors,
We are currently discussing internally about enabling the Global Stash on PVE-Only servers!
We have discussed this internally for some time, we would love community feedback.
- Enables PVE players to access daily rewards - Enables PVE players to participate in survivor exchange - Enables PVE players to access global stash to transition to PVP servers with some gear.
This poll along with all future ones will be conducted in our official discord under the #polls channel. We have also added a thread in the channel for everyone to provide their comments on the current poll and give pros and cons.
You can also suggest more ideas in our discord in the #suggestions-ideas channel.

Special XP Boost Event Now through June 17th with boosted daily rewards!
XP Boost Event!
We have enabled an XP Boost event for all players which will be active during the next server restart. This event will run beginning today and is scheduled to end on June 17th depending on the time of the server reboot schedule.
Limited Time Boosted Daily Rewards!
We have also added a special set of daily rewards for this weekend only including some of the more rare gear along with skin crates that everyone can earn just for playing! These daily rewards will go live at the start of the next daily rewards rotation later tonight!
Season 7 Devblog - Farming & Islands
Greetings Survivors! We want to thank everyone for the tremendous amount of support for the launch of XERA: Survival Season 7! And To all of the new players joining us, welcome and we can’t wait to meet each of you in game and through our official discord! With the release of the long anticipated wipe and Season 7, we’ve seen a large growth in returning players and new players coming in and we hope you’re enjoying the fresh start along with the populated servers!
As we continue throughout Season 7 we have a lot of new content planned which we want to share with everyone through this Dev Blog. Keep in mind that not everything we are working on will be included here, but we want to share some of the upcoming content being developed and gather your thoughts and feedback as well! With that being said, let’s get straight into a deep dive of some of the exciting things coming throughout the next few weeks!
Swimming
The addition of a swimming mechanic will open up new areas of the map, along with scattered islands around the edges of the map. This will also introduce choke points on bridges (These will become no-build zones) as vehicles will not be able to traverse through the water. A number of islands will be available to build on along with the addition of palm trees for wood gathering in these areas.
Wildlife/Animals
The introduction of more wildlife into the game will add a new dynamic. We’ve also improved the AI (which was previously used with the Deer at the Southern Lakes) to make them feel more natural. New mechanics include, fleeing when attacked, becoming aggressive towards threats, including players and other wildlife in the area. Currently we plan to introduce a variety of new animals including Cows, Chickens, Wolves, Bears, and Pigs in addition to the deer that are already in the game. Wildlife will also be harvest-able for their meat and other materials which will be used for new cooking and crafting recipes.
Map Updates
In the next update you will notice a few changes to the map, firstly beaches will have harvestable palm trees, which grant wood, plant fibers and a chance of coconuts. We are also re-working Bakersfield Farms to feel more natural and with a lot more loot - tied into a ‘Farming’ loot table for seeds and other items for the new farming system.
Base Building/Farming Updates
We are also working on a brand new farming system, allowing you to grow a range of 30 different crops. Along with crop growing and harvesting, we are also introducing bee hives for collecting honey, a chicken coop for eggs, and the water harvester for filling bottles. We are also adding base lights which will be craftable to allow for lighting in darker conditions as this has been a highly requested feature from the community.
Crafting/Cooking
As we have added a number of new food items, new recipes and cooking of these items will be available. We have added a new ‘pot campfire’ which will be used for these new recipes.
Crafting Menu
As the game has expanded to include a lot more crafting options, we have added the ability to favorite recipes - making it a lot easier to access your frequently crafted items.

Greetings Survivors!
We are excited to release update 1.2.2 which includes several bug fixes along with the new in game ping system. As the ping system is new to the game, we would appreciate any feedback and bug reports. Bug reports may be submitted at https://forms.gle/zNQ8VhjH7LvvaMt17.

Implemented new Ping system for marking locations on the map. The default keybind to ping a location is middle mouse. Pinging can be done from any view point. Pinging a location can also be done from the map.

Note with the changes to the smelting process, it is important that you leave 1 to 2 slots open when smelting materials in a Furnace, Metal Press, or Refinery. Ideally you should use 1 slot for the fuel source and 3-4 slots max for materials being smelted. This allows resources to be outputted to one of the remaining slots. If all slots are filled, your fuel will still be consumed, and nothing will be output as it requires an open slot.

Season Maintenance
We will be bringing down the servers at 9:00AM NZST (in 45 minutes) to perform season maintenance in preparation for Season 7.
⚠️ This is your FINAL call to claim your daily rewards, buy level boosts, purchase season 6 crates and claim season rewards. This will be unavailable once maintenance begins.

⏰ Duration of the maintenance will depend on various factors, if there are no problems with the build it should be no longer than a few hours
Final Call To Claim Season Pass Rewards!
As was mentioned in the previous wipe announcement, be sure you have claimed any season pass rewards in the next 12 hours and prior to servers being taken down. We do not have an eta on when this is happening yet but will give a small notice when we are to that stage via our official discord.
Once the servers go offline, you will not be able to claim unclaimed season pass rewards.
If you want to purchase any last minute Season 6 skin crates, or season pass level boosts, now is the time to do it as those will be going away once the servers come down for the wipe.
