Dev Diary (10/14/22) Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well!
😳 It’s been a while…
Although you haven’t heard from us in these past months, we have been working 😓 very hard on YOLKED with the goal of giving you the best version of the game possible!
Some of you may have been wondering why the full version of YOLKED isn't released yet. 😅 Well…there were some big changes in our lives–graduation, moving countries and job hunting that unfortunately required us to push the release date :( BUT we have a lot of BIG updates coming up that we’re really excited about and we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been up to!
This past year has been filled with 🐞
bug-fixing, updating graphics, optimizing performance, increasing the number of collectibles, polishing the last two levels and implementing leaderboards (can you believe it? We have leaderboards now!). We loved seeing players speedrunning Kitchen and Attic and wanted to encourage more players to challenge themselves by introducing leaderboards in the game. The leaderboards will show the 🚀 top 10 players and their times after completing Kitchen and Attic. Players will also be able to see their own times and ranking if they don’t make it to the top 10. Currently, the leaderboards show both Kitchen and Attic with two metrics, but we have plans to increase this to more metrics and more levels, including Endless Mode.
We had the idea of leaderboards a while ago,
but we were always hesitant to implement it because of how much time we thought it would take and how difficult it would’ve been to implement. However, we realized how many players would enjoy the leaderboards and also how we can easily build more content revolving around this feature, so it became one of our higher priorities 🤠. We hope this feature will encourage more players to try speedrunning the game and share speedrunning tactics in our Discord community!
On that note, we have just released a new Steam update which includes this leaderboard feature and the other changes mentioned above!
Another big adjustment
we have in this update is that new collectibles have been added and all collectibles have been shuffled. Unfortunately, this means everyone will lose their progress, including their collectibles. This was a very 😬 tough decision but since we added a LOT more collectibles in Kitchen, Attic, and the two hidden levels, we wanted to make sure they were placed in the most appropriate locations and paired with the best descriptions. This change meant that everyone’s 💾 save file will reset, but luckily this will only happen this one time. We’re eager to see everyone’s reactions to the new costumes and we hope you like them as much as we do!
We also have a fun event coming up next week on 🎃 October 21, 2022: our very first Halloween event 👻, where players will be able to unlock exclusive collectibles!
Finally, we are thrilled to announce that our new full release date will be in 🎉 February 2023! 🎉

We’ve been working rigorously on the last 2 levels. While we can’t release the levels yet, this update contains lots of improvements and features preparing for the February release and the spooky event we are planning for this Halloween.
Due to changes to collectible locations and game infrastructure, all previous player progress will be lost with this update.
