Turns out we had a major bug in the game that we hadn't run into ourselves, but thanks to player zachpearse, we have found the issue and corrected it.
For some of you this won't be too noticeable, but for others it will completely fix the game. Of course, it still won't "complete" the game and there are a lot of features still to be turned on. When they are all fully tested, you'll have them.
We also have another update coming that will adjust the rates of growth and decline and we'll be adding some buttons to speed up the game. Plus, soon, those horrible placeholder images with be replaced and the UI will be updated.
Thanks again to Zach for pointing out this bug. It was a surprisingly big one.
Mythology Hotfix
There was a bit of an issue with the mythology of each nation not displaying properly, and we took care of it.
You may experience a lengthy black screen right after the Unreal Engine cinematic plays. This is a loading screen that will be replaced by cinematics in an upcoming update, but for the moment it is blank. We prostrate before you, Great Ones, and apologize for making you endure this torture.
Flood the planet or turn it into a ball of fire
We've added the ability to flood the entire planet by blasting it with storms, or to turn it into a fiery inferno with massive solar radiation. Be aware that doing so will most likely kill off any plants or animals living on the planet. However, if your civilization is technologically advanced enough, they may be able to hold on long enough to see the disaster through. If you decide to relieve their suffering, that is.
------------New Features------------
Planetary flooding
Planetary super heating
------------Fixes------------
Fixed issues with civilization mythology
Fixed problem that blocked new games from resetting all save data
The update is finally here
Well, everyone, we've been talking about this big update coming, and it's finally here. It took quite a bit longer than expected to get all the new issues worked out, but everything is working now. One of the things that makes game development so interesting is when you add something new, everything else breaks! XD
The main focus with this update has been to get the game into a really playable state. So far it has felt more like a test than a real game, and hopefully this will change that for most of you. There is still a lot to go, but now you are able to get some real feedback on your Godliness. Plus, you can potentially wipe an entire landmass off the planet with meteors. (it all comes back when you reload the game...for now...)
------------New Features------------
"New Game" event now causes solar flare to wipe the planet clean
Added Meteorite impact effects for the planet -the amount of life you can hold on the planet is affected
Added a Telescope function to the planet
Planetary life is now being shown through various images on the Nation Tabs
-the current images are placeholders
Ability to call extraterrestrial life -hostile aliens are red and friendly aliens are green, with a 20% chance for hostility
Moon Bases Added
Civilization Mythology Updated
-see how the people of the planet view the universe and the mythology they've created
Updated Interface Nation Tabs -it is now easier to closely track the progress of each Nation on the planet
A few surprises
------------Fixes------------
Fixed issue where War would be called every frame and render the game unplayable
Fixed issue that would create lag spikes from 120+ FPS down to 15 FPS
Fixed the issue of the player camera and planet "twitched"
Fixed player not being able to continue from the Level Menu when a new game was started
Fixed satellite flight paths
Fixed some UI elements not being updated in real time
Improved stability overall
Did a touch of proofreading in the UI
Various other small fixes and improvements
Enjoy the new features, and try to keep those civilizations alive. Maybe you'll end up with a super advanced race that names you Bort. One can only hope.
A few more quick fixes before the next big update
We fixed the problem with the tutorial resetting the game and erasing your saves, and put some mouse over descriptions on the buttons.
There is a lot more to come. The next update will include a proper atmosphere, moon bases and better maps for the nations. The graphics will be cleaned up a bit as well.
Here's what you can expect:
- physically accurate planetary atmosphere
- the first taste of war between nations
- bases will begin to appear on the moon
- graphical updates
- nation tabs will have a better map screen
- more menu fixes
A small update to fix some issues
Hey, everyone! We've made a few changes to the tutorial and made it easier for everyone to access. We also made a few optimizations that should help the game run better and should get rid of the crashes some people have been experiencing. Some of the calculations have been adjusted, as well, which should make gameplay feel a bit more organic. Enjoy!
