Zero Hour Asia Showdown 2025 - Registration Open!

Greetings Players

[p][/p][p]The competitive scene for Zero Hour has been steadily growing—starting with a few local influencers and creators helping kick things off to dozens of teams entering the battlefield for a chance at real rewards. These early events have laid the groundwork for something much bigger: our biggest tournament yet. [/p][p]As we get ready for our international tournament, here’s a quick look back at where we started, and how far we’ve come.
[/p]

Tournament 1 – The Beginning

[p]Our very first Zero Hour tournament in Bangladesh was a small-scale, one-day invitational event organized to introduce competitive play to the local community. It featured four teams, each led by a well-known Bangladeshi gaming personality:[/p]
  • [p]Rafsan the Chotobhai – Popular content creator[/p]
  • [p]Tushar – Renowned esports personality[/p]
  • [p]Neyon – Competitive gamer[/p]
  • [p]Sinister – Professional FPS player[/p]
[p]With a total of four matches played, Team Rafsan emerged as the tournament champion, defeating Team Tushar 5–1 in the grand final after a dominant run throughout the event.[/p][p]
Top Performer – Rafsan the Chotobhai[/p][p]Rafsan stood out as the tournament’s top performer, finishing with the highest number of kills and delivering several clutch plays. His individual performance was a key factor in Team Rafsan’s victory.[/p][p][/p][p][img src="https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/38283674/f085a5a2d1ea027eff106c486a5cbbbb696b954e.jpg"][/p][p][/p]

Tournament 2 – Expanding to the Community

[p]Building on the momentum from Tournament 1, we launched our first nation-wide tournament. With 42 registered teams from across the country and a BDT 5,00,000 (~USD 4,000) prize pool, this was our first open tournament featuring local players competing at a larger scale.

After multiple rounds of intense competition, the following teams emerged victorious:

Top 3 Teams:[/p]
  • [p]1st Place – Team Rancor (BDT 2,00,000) (~USD 1,700)[/p]
  • [p]2nd Place – Delta Fury Esports (BDT 90,000) (~USD 770)[/p]
  • [p]3rd Place – Team Shark Tank (BDT 50,000) (~USD 430)[/p]

Behind the Maps of Zero Hour

Maps in Zero Hour are built with a focus on realism, tight engagements, and tactical depth, all inspired by real places—but some of them were also inspired from personal experiences. Residential, Terror House, and Café 14 all have origins rooted in everyday life, whether from personal memories or familiar locations.

Residential – Where It All Started

Residential was one of the earliest maps created, long before Zero Hour was even in development. Originally, it was designed for an untitled horror game project that never saw the light of day. However, when work on Zero Hour began, this pre-existing map proved to be an natural fit for the game’s tactical approach and layout.

The house it’s based on wasn’t just a random structure—it was a familiar home that had been frequently used by some of the developers for school projects, particularly to shoot action sequences. While filming project videos, it became clear that the layout naturally supported tactical movement, with multiple entry points, layered sightlines, and a sense of tension in every room. These characteristics made it a compelling choice for a map, and with some refinements to improve balance and flow, it was adapted into one of the game’s first playable locations. Despite adjustments for gameplay purposes, Residential still retains much of its original character, offering players a space that feels both lived-in and unpredictable.

Terror House – From a Friend’s Home to a Battlefield

Following Residential, Terror House became the second map created, designed as a dedicated space for tactical FPS gameplay with friends. At the time, Zero Hour was still just a concept known internally as Modern Situations, a name chosen to reflect the idea of tackling realistic modern-day scenarios with tact and strategy.

Like Residential, Terror House was inspired by a real location—a friend’s house, one that was familiar and had already been a part of countless gaming sessions. The goal was to recreate the "Clean House" experience—a slow, methodical approach to room clearing, where every corner is a potential threat.

The map’s design encourages careful movement with its tight corridors, low lighting, and a spiral staircase connecting each floor. The verticality adds an extra layer of tension, as players must be mindful of threats both above and below them. While minor adjustments were made to refine the gameplay experience, the core layout remained mostly unchanged, preserving the original vision.

Fun Fact: Before the game was renamed Zero Hour, the logo for Modern Situations (MS) had already been created. The team liked it so much that when the title changed, they decided to retain the logo by incorporating it into the game’s lore—giving rise to the MS Unit players now recognize in-game.

Café 14 – Seen and Reimagined

Not all of Zero Hour’s maps came from personal spaces. Café 14 was inspired by a building one of the developers would pass daily on their way home from work. A single fog light illuminated the area, casting long shadows and giving the street an ominous, almost cinematic feel. That simple detail sparked the idea for a new map.

The design concept evolved into a space where a serial killer lived a double life. His home was on the second floor, while the first floor was used as his pharmacy. The remaining space was rented out to a café, making the location feel like an ordinary part of the city. The fog light, which originally inspired the map, was recreated in-game to capture the same tension and atmosphere. The café and pharmacy create a somewhat public setting, while the upper floors add more claustrophobic and high-risk encounters.

We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from the Zero Hour community. These maps are more than just environments—they're stories, memories, and moments reimagined for tactical gameplay. We hope you’ve enjoyed this look behind the scenes at how some of your favorite maps came to life.

Developers Dispatch: What's Next For Zero Hour

Greetings officers,

It's been a while since we spoke. First and foremost, we want to thank all of our community. We wish to express our gratitude to you from the depths of our hearts. You are and will be the core of our game, and we owe you a part of our success.

Secondly, we know it's been a while since our last game update, and we are here today to address this. After the release of version 1.0 of our game, we planned lots of updates and content for Zero Hour. Unfortunately, we had to review some internal changes, including bringing in new talents to the team to help push the game development and speed up some things. However, those changes take some time. Not to mention, the company plans to grow and expand.

Rest assured, we are committed to the game and will ensure that Zero Hour continues to grow and improve with new content and features.

While things might seem quiet, we've been working behind the scenes, refining our process and preparing/ planning for what's next. In the meantime, we have some cool events coming up, which we hope you will enjoy, like our recently announced Bangladesh Open Tournament and some more to come that we don’t want to spoil!

Let us know what you would like to see next, and as always, thank you for sharing this journey with us.

Stay liquid, stay sharp, and until next time.
