Weekend News and Updates
As we head into our first full weekend following launch I wanted to share a few updates with you.
First, a bundle containing the following items has been delivered to all players that logged into the game from Friday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. PD to Tuesday at 2:59 a.m. PDT:
This package is just a small token of our appreciation to the community for their patience and understanding as we dealt with the lag issues the game experienced last weekend. Our continued monitoring of the live service indicates that the new hardware we deployed as part of maintenance on 09/23 has resolved these issues, so you should be in store for a lag-free weekend!
And what better way to celebrate than with a double EXP event. From 09/26 at 11:00 a.m. PDT to 09/29 at 11:00 a.m. PDT, you will earn double the experience from matches played. This is a great way to quickly cruise past those early levels and earn your first permanent weapon unlocks.
Finally, ZMR now supports Steam trading cards! Earn half the set of nine cards just by playing the game, then trade with friends for the rest! Crafting the ZMR badge will earn you some slick profile backgrounds and snazzy emoticons, including a rare one of my buddy, the ever-lovable sentient crate. Collect 'em all while you kill 'em all!
That's all for now! See you in-game this weekend!
Post-Maintenance Update
Last night during maintenance, we deployed new hardware that we anticipate will resolve the lag issues experienced by players yesterday and this past weekend.
We are currently monitoring the service to ensure the latency issues are, in fact, fixed. Once we are confident that the servers are stable, we will begin to discuss appropriate player compensation. Watch out for more updates soon and thank you for your patience and understanding while we worked this out.
The Current State of the Game
UPDATE (09/22 @ 4:15 p.m. PDT): We will deploy new hardware that we hope will address the current lag issues during an extended maintenance starting at 3:00 a.m. PDT on 09/23. For more information about the maintenance, please refer to the following thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/306830/discussions/0/613936673562110892/
UPDATE (09/21 @ 2:02 p.m. PDT): I am happy to report that we have secured hardware that we anticipate will solve the current lag problems. We are sending a team member to the data center on an overnight flight to install it and we are hoping to have it fully deployed and active following a maintenance sometime tomorrow.
The lag issues that have plagued ZMR throughout the day today are truly regrettable. The team here at En Masse has been working hard to identify and solve the issue all day and I'm writing now to give you, the players, some context surrounding the Steam launch, our progress on the issue thus far, and insight into when you can expect a solution.
The lag issues you are experiencing today are a result of the volume of players trying to get into the game. This is probably very obvious to a lot of you and you must be wondering--was En Masse not properly prepared for the Steam launch? The answer to that is yes and no.
The data center that hosts ZMR has capacity to support a volume of players well beyond the current population. In this sense, yes, we anticipated a surge of new players and prepared appropriately. So what's the problem then?
A specific piece of hardware in the data center is overloading due to the current influx of new players. During the four months that ZMR was in beta, we never approached the volume of players we are now experiencing, so this hardware was never stressed and the issue was never identified or forecast.
So we have identified the issue. This is the good news.
The bad news is, we need to replace this hardware with something more capable and this may take some time due to our current server setup. How long? Hopefully a day or two, but it could possibly take longer. We are hoping to fix it early next week, but our specific action plan is still being formulated.
This is the real and transparent truth of the matter and we are working diligently to get this sorted out as soon as possible. I will provide updates via the subreddit and the ZMR forums on Steam as we make progress.
I am very excited about the interest in the game following our launch on Steam. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we work out this issue so you can get back to playing the game how it was meant to be played.
ZMR is Live on Steam!
Zombies Monsters Robots (ZMR) is live on Steam!
Today's release on Steam also marks ZMR's official launch and exit from open beta.
The launch comes with a new update, "T-Rekt", which features the dino-killing map, "Jurassholes!", in addition to a bunch of other new content. Check out the full detals of the update at the link below:
The wide variety of modes, maps, and weapons in ZMR can be daunting at first, so I highly recommend that new players check out the "Watch Before You Play" video below:
Also, make sure to claim the Free Quick-Start Pack we are offering for a limited time in celebration of the launch. This pack will help you to get off to a good start killing stuff in ZMR!
Finally, if you have any questions relating to downloading and installing ZMR, creating an En Masse account, or claiming DLC packs from within the game, please check out our Steam launch FAQ below:
Between all the different game modes, maps, weapons, and enemy types in Zombies Monsters Robots (ZMR), there is no shortage of things to do and ways to play, even in its current open beta state.
And there's more on the way! We are committed to a monthly update schedule for ZMR and since our open beta launch on July 1st, we have managed to maintain that schedule by issuing three major updates to the game.
Putting together these updates is a ton of fun for us here at En Masse Entertainment. We love building up each update as a major event in the history of the game, so much so that we are even chronicling that history on our official site.
We are planning our next major update to drop surrounding ZMR's official launch on Steam in late September 2014. Stay tuned for more info!
If you want to learn more about ZMR before it comes to Steam, visit http://www.playzmr.com. You can even play the game now in open beta and get a head start. We will not be wiping characters at launch, so any progress you make now will carry over when ZMR launches on Steam.
Have fun!
ZMR Community Hub and Steam Group
This past Friday, we announced that Zombies Monsters Robots (ZMR) will be coming to Steam as part of its official launch in late September 2014. At the same time, we launched the store page for the game in order to give Steam players a look at what the game is all about ahead of its release.
We are all very excited to bring ZMR to Steam. As a shooter, we feel the game is a great fit for the platform and will benefit from a lot of Steam's built-in community features.
We encourage Steam players to check out the Steam community hub for the game where we've uploaded some video of the game collected throughout our open beta. This should give you a bit more insight into what the game is all about. At the community hub, you can also interact directly with members of the publishing team here at En Masse Entertainment who will happily respond to questions you have about the game. There are even some ZMR open beta players hanging out there and answering questions if you prefer a more non-official response.
Thanks for your interest in Zombies Monsters Robots. Stay tuned to this page, the community hub, and the game group for more information relating to ZMR's launch date on Steam!
