Auto Cloud Sync 5/26/2023

Good afternoon!

I just wanted to post a small announcement letting people know Steam's auto cloud sync for 24 Killers will be enabled tomorrow, 5/26/2023, at roughly 5pm PST. There won't be an in-game update for this. I'll post a comment on this thread after I enable it.

steam auto cloud saves will be coming soon! read below about the new auto backup feature that will help prevent possible save data loss by those who play the game on two or more devices. 24K will only sync your save data, not config files, because you may have different settings across devices. I encourage players to also make their own local safety save if you plan on playing between two or more devices and using the auto cloud.

changes:
save backup feature added. when you save, a daily shadow copy of your whole 24k data is stored in appdata/roaming/24Killers/local store. for example, whenever you save on may 21st 2023, a folder will be made for that date and the shadow copy of your data will be updated every time you save until the next day when it will create a new folder and start a new shadow copy. save data location may vary on steam deck. see our discord FAQ for more information.

Steam Cloud Saves and Backup Feature

Good morning!

I've been testing Steam's auto cloud save in 24 Killers and have it working! Something I noticed is if you're using the game between two devices with auto cloud, it's possible to overwrite the data you wanted to keep by syncing the other device's data first.

Ahead of making cloud saves available to users, there will be an update soon that makes a daily local backup of your save data every time you save. For instance, if I save my game today, it will generate a directory "Backup Saves/05202023/" and copy my 24k_foam.sol to that folder. If I save again, that file will be updated until the next day when it will make a "05212023" folder and start copying my save there instead. I hope this will help prevent some frustration, and I still encourage people to make their own local save backup.

Update v04112023 Blessing QoL features, Item Bubble Speed Up

fixes:
softlock when starting game because of boxing glove
elevator being drawn up by treadmil on file select
whisper spawns in forest map where downed ship is located. two of them were in level collision

changes:
you can now pick up and put down blessings during the intro
game remembers blessings you picked up last time and automatically equips them for your next playthrough. you can put them down during the intro if you don't want them
open present icon for files with unlocked blessing
smoothed out the process of unlocking blessings. prerequisite cutscenes only triggered by talking to an npc multiple times was very confusing for some players
holding special/back during an item bubble makes it much faster. suggested by a discord user

Update v04022023 In-Game Patch notes, Box/Chest/Bowl Spawns, Music Overlap

You'll notice that there are now in-game patch notes that read directly from the change log file in your game files!

Important!!
Existing save files may have boxes/toasters/bowls spawning again after having opened them. I improved the code for these spawns and as a consequence, some of them may show up again. I don't anticipate this breaking anyone's saves.

fixes:
overlapping music when talking to NPCs sometimes
tad talking about the broken handle after completing their minigame and before breaking the handle
pausing the game while a menu is open, then unpausing and accidentally selecting an option with the same input
huey's tv not being cracked until getting oyaji photo. should be cracked after oyaji throws it
not able to interact with cats or muscle mons after getting their challenge text when their event is active
not able to interact with muscle mons after exiting menu or finishing "rules" cutscene on the TV
squat rules menu option breaking the minigame if you view rules and exit the map
treadmill sprite adding so many frames from speed that treadmill appears still

changes:
new dialogue for wormy and skip after all the mons are freed and they're not running on the treadmill anymore.
event trigger in jpd hub where johnny tells home he can't access the next part of the dungeon only occurs now after you've beaten the first boss and you don't have a ghost power yet.
you can pick up big gabbage again at lvl 3 strength. you still get the message about needing a suitable vessel before then

mon location on photos incorrect sometimes
not being able to interact with mons who need items after exiting item give menu
typo in RISKY description
speed cap on ball bounce minigames broken

changes:
added 3 auto text speed options. the fastest option displays all text at once
gabbage can picks up poo poo now
constrained window scale to player's resolution e.g. if your res is 1280x720 you can't scale the game to 1920x1080 and have the game window stretch past your monitor. this is required to get Steam Deck verified.
game now accounts for system chrome when centering on the screen, so if you're in windows and scale 24K to your screen's resolution, it's essentially borderless window mode
improved RISKY description to show exact multiplier
improved repsonse time of AUTO EAT

This update includes some changes to screen positioning and window resolutions for Steam Deck certification. It will reset your config file which is your key bindings, video settings, etc..

I'm working from a spreadsheet compiled from our Discord, but some other things on my to-do are fixing the bounce minigame speed cap bug, making it clear which puzzles in JPD are solved, making Know It All Blessing prevent costume tutorials, Giving the last couple of soldier mons better later dialogue, fixing mon locations on the photos tab.
