Screenshake! Everybody loves screenshake. If you don't, it can be disabled from Options > Video.
Improved jumping! You can no longer terminate jumps in mid-air. This subtle change allows you to focus primarily on shooting.

Just released an experimental update to the game that allows you to replay your last mission. Now you can relive the epic speed-runs and embarrassing versus battles with your friends in slow motion!
Simply open the “High Score” menu and choose the “Replay” option to enjoy the footage of your last mission or versus match. Playback speed can be controlled using the D-Pad or the arrow keys.

Upcoming game and a note on Steam keys
Greetings Commandos,
It is hard to believe that the game is nearing its sixth anniversary! Overall, it has been a great learning experience for us, so we'd like to thank everybody for supporting the game. Your feedback has been invaluable and in return we'd like to remain as transparent as possible.
Upcoming game
Super Chains is currently in development so join our Steam group to find out more. Some very exiting updates to Super Chains are on the way so please share your feedback, it really helps out a lot!
A note on Steam keys
If you are one of the few people who have received a key for 8-Bit Commando through any third party website, we encourage you to activate your key as soon as possible. Everyone should have had more than a year to activate their keys, and failing to do so, means that your key may not work in the future.
Thanks for taking a look and much love!
Extra achievements
Greetings Commandos, we've got another update coming your way!
Easier way to switch between weapons, especially when playing in coop mode
Two extra achievements are bound to put achievement hunters to test

Hard mode
Greetings, Commandos! Are you ready for the ultimate retro gaming experience? We're talking classic run-and-gun action without tutorials, health-bars and no hand holding.
Think you can handle the one-hit deaths and brutal timer counting down the seconds before nuclear disaster...
Hard mode unlocks once you complete the game and gives you exclusive access to a new set of leaderboards.
Kick off the new year like it's 1987! Simply turn up the in-game video filters and you'll feel as if you are playing on an authentic CRT television.
Happy new year from 2DEngine!
Endgame update
Greetings Commandos,
Word is in from HQ and the reviews don't look too positive. Dang it, even after operations “Revamped” and “Versus” those ungrateful SOB's are still whining! Alright, here is the plan:
We're sending you back to boot camp for a few weeks, so you should be able to move faster out there. Don't ask what I had to do, but look: I got you these special full metal jacket slugs. Just don't get too wild, since these puppies can practically eat through concrete.
...and don't expect that your mission will be any easier! Intelligence reports that the enemy is getting smarter and is building new fortifications. Damn right, you can expect 30% more content in the endgame.
So go ahead, try the demo and buy the 2Dengine bundle. What's the matter, Steam's got you lifting too many controllers?
General – out

Controls update and translation credits
Greetings, Commandos
Another patch is out, fixing a few things and introducing the game in new languages.
The controls have been improved. You can now disable specific controllers – a feature requested by several players. Also, the “Virtual Gamepad” should be available for anybody who prefers to play using a touchscreen. This is still an experimental feature and we hope to receive more feedback about it by the community. Also, there was an issue of the game failing to save custom gamepad mappings – this should be fixed and working properly as of today.
Huge thanks and shout-outs to the following people who have translated 8-Bit Commando in 13 different languages:

dollppin
DickDailyRX

The game is still open for translations so please submit your corrections or translations at: http://2dengine.com/translate/?r=1
Thanks again to everybody who has contributed and keep on being awesome!
Open game translations
Greetings Commandos,
I'm happy to announce that we're starting an open source initiative in hopes of bringing the game to more languages. Please visit the following to page and help us out:
Please make sure to either 1) login using your Steam account or 2) leave your name in the contributors row so we can include it in the credits!
Game can change over time and it's often difficult to keep the different translations up to date. This is a common problem for many devs so all of the source code behind this project is available publicly under the under the MIT License.
