Adapt Demo Updated to 0.46a
Patch Notes - version 0.46a
WARNING: Due to changes in save data structure, previous saved Species are not compatible with v0.46a
Description
This update has been a bit of a slower process than usual. Much of my time the last couple months has gone to a combination of optimizing, and some structural redesigns in the back-end to prepare for the new Status Effect system; as well as some serious digging into a major lag spike issue which is unnoticed on many machines, but completely debilitating on others.
Many of the more obvious and exciting additions to this patch include some major QoL improvements to the editor, with the addition of the new Purchase Pouch (shopping cart) system, and a newly improved Species Library, including the addition of species descriptions. Additionally, v0.46a also includes for the first time in quite a while, some new parts, and a new Gene.
This update is the first, essentially prep-update for the upcoming v0.5a features: Status Effects, followed by exposable food sources, the first of which is already in game, in the form of a little red radish-like plant. A LOT of work has been going into consolidating the attributes systems into a single streamlined system, which not only simplifies development and iteration for me ongoing, but also plays a huge role in the eventual modding potential once modding is eventually officially supported.
As of now, the basic infrastructure is officially in place for modders to access, modify, or add Genes / Adaptations, with support for Stats, Traits, Abilities, Status Effects, and Resources, which are now unified under a single 'Attribute' banner. More details on the Components and Processes used, as well as documentation will come as Adapt comes closer to official mod support.

Patch Notes - version 0.45a
Warning: Due to changes in the body rigging code, your saved animals will likely have some parts incorrectly placed or aligned, as well as colors reset to black. I’ve prevented the need to wipe saved species, but with this minor error as a result.

Welcome and Thank You!
Wow what a crazy day yesterday was!
Taking part of in the World Nature Conservation Day sale (ongoing until August 2, check out the amazing nature games taking part!) was a great opportunity and it's led some great feedback on the Adapt Demo which is now available on our Steam page.
Along side the sale post, we also had a very well received post over on r/SpeculativeEvolution, a fantastic community filled with all sorts of weird and wonderful speculative creatures, they even made their way over to our Discord and it would be great if you, yes you reading this right this second, to come join in on the fun too!
Lots of eyes, and downloads, of the demo has led to a lot of bug reports which we are eternally grateful for and we are working hard at compiling them and get them addressed, we will be supporting the demo with patches so keep your eyes peeled for those!
That's it for now, thank you again to those of you, old and new, who have shown your support through Adapt, it means the world to Red - seriously, look how happy he is (we should probably get some more emoji's drawn up but he's so darn cute! (Oh look at that, we're now two brackets deep - massive shout out yet again to Flame who created a range of emoji's for Discord!))
Adapt: Prologue Now Available On Steam!
We're pleased to announce that right now you can download the demo for Adapt - titled Adapt: Prologue.
The release of the demo coincides with our exciting inclusion in the World Nature Conservation Day Sale which is taking place now (July 28) through to August 2!
