The Duelmaster appears on the archipelago this update allowing captains to queue their crew for a PvP deathmatch at a remote location. While waiting in the queue, captains can carry out an expedition normally, automatically extracting and starting a match when at least one player has joined each team.
Battles end when all engines and pressure wells have been destroyed on one team's ships or after 15 minutes have passed. Additional victory conditions and islands to battle over will be added in future updates.
Added the Duelmaster, a portal for organizing isolated battles between players, to all outposts.
Bug Fixes
Fixed ships sometimes despawning when the owner dies and no one else is around.
Fixed the activate button accepting input when certain menus were open.
Airmen 1.22.7: Avenfold Dock
A contract provider specific update this week relocates Tower Reckongale to a new coastal location and adds a pseudo contract fort to Harbor island to improve reliable access to contracts across the map. Both locations are now accessible to watercraft.
1.22.7
Major Features
Added a new prototype contract fort to Harbor Island.
Minor Features
Relocated Tower Reckongale to Verdant Coast and added a watercraft spawn point.
Removed blast resistant from blast and gatling cannons.
Removed death explosion damage from gatling and blast cannons.
Bug Fixes
Fixed the gatling gun missing the accuracy scaling tag.
Fixed the coloration of the old timey cannon barrel.
Fixed the "Browse Files" button not opening the correct folder.
Airmen 1.22.6: Extra Hangar Stats
Little baby update this week adding a menu for displaying weird extra ship stats to the hangar. You can access the new menu in the bottom right of the hangar menu with the "Extra Stats" button. Let me know if there are any stats you'd like to see.
Minor Features
Added a menu for displaying extra ship stats in the hangar.
Reduced torque applied by ballasts at high angular speeds.
Bug Fixes
Fixed bounty coin exchange boards advancing the carbine kills challenge.
Airmen 1.22.5: Spawn Selection Changes
This week's update tackles the issue of using the spawn selection options to track down players on the map. Random regions will now be hidden from selection as if occupied to reduce the reliability of the tactic from 100%. The blocked regions will rotate every 10-15 minutes. Three additional spawn point options have been added to help pad out the reduced list size and provide easier access to contracts for players who cannot afford to invest in every outpost.
A small number of spawn regions are blocked from selection on a rotating basis.
Minor Features
Improved the ability of in-line tracks to turn.
Added region select spawn points for Tsuuchev Ruins, Castle Orenvaald, and Tower Reckongale.
Bug Fixes
Fixed stripe colors appearing brownish.
Fixed the obelisk.
Fixed contracts from contract forts not registering on first accept.
Airmen 1.22.4: Ship Shader Update
This week's update tackles many small and large visual tweaks throughout the game. Firstly, the ship part shader has been overhualed to better represent metallic surfaces. The water shader has also received a shininess boost and will properly glint with the reflection of the sun. Airmen components also receive a literal buff as a side effect of these improvements.
Reworked the ship part shader to make metallic components look more metallic.
Minor Features
Float stone parts will shade darker when damaged.
Tweaked water shader to be shinier.
The black flag activates after 60 seconds instead of immediately.
Added 25% to 100% damage ramping for most weapons between 10 to 20 meters. Reduced existing damage ramping effects.
Bug Fixes
Fixed some outpost upgrades appearing twice in the supplier list.
Fixed fog being incredibly dense at high altitudes in foggy weathers.
Airmen 1.22.2: Outpost Provider Banners
While the clean up of visual bugs continues a new quality of life feature arrives at outposts across the archipelago. Small banners will be raised at all outposts displaying their available contract providers and ability to extract/redeploy from afar.
Each banner corresponds to a different functionality.
Gold Dot on Black: The outpost has a commander. Blue Half Diagonal on White: The outpost has a porter. Black Vertical Bar on Red: The outpost has a marshal. Green Half on White: The outpost has a harvester. Black Diagonal Bar on Blue: The outpost has a scout.
Added small banners at each outpost displaying the available contract providers.
Minor Features
Reduced the spawn and respawn frequency of desert worms.
Bug Fixes
Fixed beam mounted quad cannon's extra crosshair dot being off by 90 degrees.
Fixed rain and snow appearing instantly instead of fading in.
Fixed the server not refusing particular spawn selections and using default spawns.
Airmen 1.22.0: Render Pipeline Update
This week's update upgrades the game's render pipeline from Unity's Standard Pipeline to the Universal Render Pipeline. The new pipeline makes shader work easier than it was before and should offer a performance boost across the board.
The new pipeline brings new functionality allowing for some improvements such as radial fog and better distant clouds. At the same time, a few features are no longer properly supported such as distortion effects and screen space reflections. Almost every shader in the game had to be remade for this update along with a total replacement of post-processing so nothing will look quite the same as it did before.
This update is the culmination of 4 weeks across the year of slowly finding yet another visual that was broken or needed attention. If you notice anything suspiciously invisible, please let me know on the official Discord.
Airmen 1.21.12: Drone Turret Deployers
This week's update legitimizes the new weapon format added as part of this year's Spookening. A full set of drone turret deployers for each type of autoturret have been added. Additionally, the fire power of deployers has been reduced to 4k from 6k so the difficult to use weapon breaks even earlier in the fight. The new drone turret deployers are unlocked with the teleportation weaponry research and the corresponding turret research.
Added drone autoturret deployers for all autoturret variants.
Minor Features
Reduced drone autoturret deployer firepower from 6k to 4k.
Airmen Update 1.21.11: The Spookening Part 2
The yearly Spookening content expands with a more dangerous variant of the demonic worms and a new reward for defeating them. The new glass worm also appears in the desert but is rarer than its bony counterpart.
The demonic remote autoturret deployer is a new weapon format that slowly deploys up to three floating autoturrets over time while active. The deployed turrets are not permanently destroyed as long as their deployer still functions but they are entirely stationary so be sure to deploy them at the right time in battle.
1.21.11
Major Features
Added the glass worm variant, a larger and more dangerous demon worm.
Added the demonic remote autoturret deployer as a reward for defeating the glass worm.
Minor Features
Added the peg meat cosmetic as a reward for defeating the glass worm.
Fixed AI turrets with a player using them designating projectile authority incorrectly.
Fixed the glass demon never spawning.
AIrmen 1.21.10: The Spookeneing Part 1
This year's Spookening is live with a scary new inhabitant of Steel Sands Desert. The demonic worm will erupt from the ground to destroy anything low enough for it to reach. Do your part to keep the desert safe by defeating 10 worms using airmen tools to unlock the bone katana cosmetic.
Prepare your strongest landships for next week's Spookening Part 2 update.
