Happy Alien Day, Colonial Marines. The original Alien film takes place on the moon Acheron, or LV-426. So every 4/26 we get to celebrate the movie that started it all, and the incredible Alien fans.
In celebration of Alien Day, we’re dropping a new quality-of-life update for Aliens: Fireteam Elite that makes two really exciting changes to the game.
Firstly, we know that a lot of our players have been frustrated with the in-game currency cap of 50,000 credits. With this patch, we’re doubling the cap to 100K so you can safely hoard and collect even more credits than before!
Secondly, we know how much you love using challenge cards - and how much fun and replayability they add to each mission. We also know, though, that losing challenge cards when a mission is failed or a host drops out is frustrating. Plus, the grind to get enough currency to unlock more can be a hassle. That’s why, with this update, challenge card packs in SSGT Park’s shop are now FREE!
That’s all for now - happy Alien Day marines!

Alien Day - Terminal Containment Update | Available Now
Happy Alien Day, Colonial Marines. The original Alien film takes place on the moon Archeron, or LV-426. So every 4/26 we get to celebrate our favorite sci-fi franchise. Last year, we brought the celebration to Aliens: Fireteam Elite with a free weapon skin for all players - the ‘Close Encounter.’ This year we’re going even bigger with multiple exciting cosmetics, a new horde map, and a brand new way to play!
Nintendo Switch
That’s right, starting today you can now play Aliens: Fireteam Elite on the Nintendo Switch! Every piece of content that has launched on other platforms is available on Nintendo Switch Cloud Streaming, as well - every patch, every free update, every new cosmetic, and the Pathogen DLC expansion.
Terminal Containment
The Nintendo Switch isn’t the only platform getting something to celebrate today. We’re also launching the brand new Terminal Containment horde map on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Switch. As a thank you for sticking with us for so long and being such dedicated fans, the new horde map is 100% FREE.
https://youtu.be/fMgPV0hGXCI
Terminal Containment sees your Fireteam entering a large, single-floor interior map with multiple points of entry to worry about. The center control room zone is a reliable spot to mount your defenses at, but as the horde waves pile on you’ll have to make sure you’re checking every angle and coordinating with your squad to make it out alive. Survive at least 10 waves on Intense, Extreme, or Insane and you’ll be able to unlock a variety of weapon cosmetics to show off just how ruthless you are.
We hope every Colonial Marine and Fireteam around the globe enjoys this Alien Day update - we’re hard at work on more exciting stuff that we can’t wait to share with you, but none of this would have been possible without your continued support. Until next time, Marines.

We know you’ve been busy thinning the hordes of Xenomorphs in the Cistern, Marines. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed! If you got the limited rewards, you’ve earned ‘em! If you haven’t, sadly, your time to collect is over. But that doesn’t mean game over. Starting today, the limited time rewards from the Winter Event have been replaced with new permanent rewards. You’ll want to boot up and hit the Cisterns again to look for those all new weapon colors, emotes, and a new decal.
Some weapons, attachments, and rewards have been adjusted, and you’ll notice those Horde Mode rewards menus are much easier to read.
Like you, we’ve also been busy killing bugs. Read on for the full report of everything in this patch, and then get back to business, jarheads!

Ruptured Cistern Limited Time Holiday Rewards Extended
Good news, marines! We're giving you an extra week to earn the Holiday rewards. You now have until January 24th to earn them all!
Aliens: Fireteam Elite - Year One Battle Report
It’s been a year filled with Facehuggers, bursting eggs and galactic adventures. Together we’ve killed innumerable Xenomorphs and have helped make the outer colonies a safer place for just about everyone.
It hasn’t always been easy, especially since we introduced Hardcore mode. Not only did you marines survive a run in with a Xenomorph Queen, but even took down one of her Pathogen counterparts. Not to mention the countless Warriors, Crushers and Praetorian that have learned what happens when you cross paths with the elite crew of the Endeavor.
To help in your adventures, we added over 100 different items to the game since launch, including more than a dozen new weapons and two dozen new attachments. Plus stockfulls of emotes, kit skins, and weapon colors.
As if all that wasn’t enough, we also added more than 60 new challenge cards and the Fabrication Reprocessor, so you can recycle the cards you’ve been hoarding.
Speaking of hoards, we also added four new hoard modes this year, including Ruptured Cistern just a couple weeks ago. We’re especially proud of this latest entry and its unique vertical gameplay that has been giving even our most veteran marines a run for their money.
All of this leads us to what was without a doubt our biggest content drop of the year, the Pathogen expansion.
Pathogen brought with it 32 new challenge cards, 26 attachments, 8 new weapons, dozens of weapon colors, emotes, perks, decals and more. Most importantly, it continued the Aliens: Fireteam Elite story with the 3-mission ‘Promise of a Flower’ campaign.
Marines faced their toughest challenge yet when they were tasked with taking down the Pathogen hive and eliminating the Pathogen Queen. She put up a mighty fight, but ultimately fell to the prowess of the Colonial Marines.
It’s been an incredible year and we’re so thankful to have been able to share this game with all of you. We’ll be back in the new year with new announcements and new opportunities to squelch the Xenomorphs scourge. Until then, don’t forget to earn all the limited time rewards in the Ruptured Cistern Holiday event that runs through January 17th!

Ruptured Cistern: New Vertical Gameplay and Limited Time Holiday Rewards
Welcome to Aliens: Fireteam Elite – Ruptured Cistern! This past year has been an incredible journey facing off against some of the most fearsome foes in the galaxy. Fireteams had to battle back hordes of Xenomorphs, eliminate scores of pathogen enemies, and even went toe-to-toe with a Pathogen Queen and lived to tell the tale.
Now it’s time for a new adventure – one with limited time rewards that delves deep into a place our marines know all too well. Reports are that there's a leak in Katanga's cisterns and we need a Fireteam to clear out the Xenomorphs and help with the repairs.
Before we get any further, it’s important that you know the cisterns are unlike anything you’ve faced before. Herrera will walk you through the repairs, but everything you mess with is going to bring wave after wave of enemies down upon you. The kicker? Katanga’s cisterns are part of a multistory complex. That means you need to keep your head on a swivel and not just watch out behind you, but above and below you as well.
This is vertical gameplay like you’ve never seen before in AFE. Find the right angles and you might even be able to defend more than one level at a time.
It won’t be easy though; you’ll need to traverse the multiple levels of the cisterns to get everything back up and running. Between activating the air intake and computer, then cycling the cistern intake, even the most experienced marines are going to have their hands full.
For the successful teams, the rewards will be plenty. In addition to the standard 30 attachments and perks regularly available to be earned in horde modes, Ruptured Cistern is introducing limited edition rewards in Aliens: Fireteam Elite for the first time.
From now until January 17th, there will be eight unique holiday rewards available. The six decals, including Stay Frosty and Xeno's Greetings, will be awarded randomly to marines who complete at least wave 10 of Ruptured Cistern on any difficulty level. The new Deep Freeze gun color will be awarded to anyone who can complete 10 waves on Intense difficulty. And if you’re up to the challenge, you can unlock the Winter Constellations gun color by completing 10 waves on Extreme difficulty.
Whatever you do, make sure you don’t delay jumping into this limited time challenge. Once these rewards are gone, they may never come back.
