America's Army Comic Issue #12 Live!

America’s Army Issue #12 which launched today features art from “Overload” by map designer Drecks, the winner of the AA:PG User Made Map competition. Check out his map on the Steam Workshop.

Release Notes – 17 Dec 2014

We have a few fixes and minor changes available, check out the details below. The most notable is the fix for user maps building shaders every time, so this should make playing user made maps a much better experience!

Changes

  • Securing the bomb in C4 missions when dropped is disabled by default, can be enabled in server config
  • Added setting in Mission Editor to turn off lighting while editing to increase performance (Tools -> View Mode -> Unlit)
  • Added setting in Mission Editor to view wireframe mode (Tools -> View Mode -> Wireframe)


Bug Fixes

  • Fix for shaders being recompiled every time a custom map loads
  • Fix for picked up weapons not having ammo if you picked them up while reloading
  • Sighted accuracy now takes effect slightly before sighted blend is complete. Sight time now respects shorter blend when resighting before unsighting is complete
  • Weapon sway no longer starts before fully sighting up
  • Fixed several crashes in the launcher
  • Entire map name must be supplied in the “votechangemap” console command


Maps

  • Can no longer walk on a small ledge in Hospital Lobby
  • Fixed an issue with Hospital Statue not blocking bullets
  • Fixed an issue where a hay patch was blocking grenade explosions on Intercept
  • Fixed an issue where players could walk along unintended ledge on Harbor Assault

When Will The Beta End?

Wow! It is hard to believe it’s been more than a year already. A lot has changed between our initial beta version and the game we have following the release of RFI-4. Thanks to the community for the many, many hours playing and all the valuable feedback. We especially want to thank our dedicated Beta testing team who have donated hundreds of hours to the project.

Minor Patch Available Now!

The patch is live on Steam, so you may start downloading NOW! The patch includes:
  • 10-min server ban now only applies to vote kicks. Vote kicks for idling now just kick to spectate.
  • Fix for revive through wall bug.

UMM Competition: And The Winner Is Overload!

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the UMM Competition is Overload!

Congratulations Drecks on a job well done! Drecks was able to create a map that plays well and provides a strong visual style. The map fits AA: PG both visually and thematically, allowing us to easily incorporate it in to the game.

AAPG: How long have you been playing America’s Army?

MCHammer: I started playing AA a year ago back in November. Before that I played the Call Of Duty games 1,UO, 2 & 4 (anything after CoD4 is just console trash).
