Zelda-inspired Adventure Ancient Abyss Demo Available in the Steam Game Festival

Beijing, China -- 9.29.2020 -- The indie developer Screambox Studio unveiled their maze based roguelite action adventure Ancient Abyss, will be releasing a playable demo for a limited time on PC as part of the new Steam Game Festival (set for Oct 7 to Oct 13, PT).

The Demo contains the first 2 missions from the start of the campaign for a glimpse of the combat system, and the wildest pixel art worlds. Inspired by The Legend of Zelda series, the game features thrilling battle and perma-death mechanics of the Roguelike genre, as well as the exploration and discovery of 2D Zelda games.

  1. Particles when puddles are frozen, poisoned or electrified

Sorry, buddies.
We made a small update with some new stuff in the battle scenes that need more time to polish.
So we roll back to last release. But for those who want to have a taste of the buggy yet fun changes, feel free to switch to the beta branch by entering access code 'Screambox123'.

Better Barrel Experience !

Major changes

  • Easier barrel kicking. Only display UI tip when player can kick
  • Barrel bounces back a little when hitting walls or stones
  • New icons for some of the Passive Skills


Bug fixings

  • Enemies stun forever
  • Hand of Fate: minor data error
  • Super Roll Attack: Only deals 1x damage
  • Blast: No effect for level 2
  • Some other issues in battle scenes
