New Fixes



  • New starting window to give the player the option to set his screen resolution
  • Wide screen ratio has been added - 21:9
  • Boss NPCs insects that near the entrance are removed from level objectives
  • Few map fixes with rocks blocking water sources
  • Path finding grid was getting broken by the water plane
  • Underground floor limit adjusted

PATCH 3.4

Hi AND WELCOME BACK TO ANT QUEEN 3D

New Features


  • Players can now select what map they want to play with in the sandbox mode
  • Maps are unlocked with the progression of the campaign
  • The maps are reactive, they will modify if and object that would block the pathfinding is near the entrance of your colony
  • New achievements for 1000 and 2000 ants
  • New achievements for unlocking maps
  • New level has been added explaining the mushroom chambers
  • New dialog in the level 16 and 17


Bug Fix

  • Some players were having issues placing the egg chambers. It should be fix now
  • The data related the the space each ants was using in the colony has been fix. The numbers are now adding up.
  • Chambers won't teleport anymore to the nearest pathfinding node. This was placing the new chambers to the outside world in some conditions and so freezing the gameplay
  • Level 17 time countdown augmented
  • A few stones that where blocking the pathfinding near water sources have been fix

PATCH NOTE



Hi, and welcome back to Ant Queen 3D

I saw that a few players have over 500 ants in their colonies and they say it's working good even with such high numbers. It's very exiting to see that the coding Technics from university are paying off!!

This week I played the game to see what had to be worked on. A few tweaks and balancing. I dedicated my time to the Ai and to a few bugs.


  • The amount of dirt created when the player dig has been reduced what allows him to dig more chambers
  • The player can no longer add different types of chambers in the same room
  • New Queens are walking and taking breaks, they were just all standing in the same spot and stacked
  • Ai has been worked on a lot!
  • New buttons for selection of same type of ant
  • The UI alert panels has been moved a little
  • I finally found why the queen egg production would stop...
  • Repletes should work good now
  • I'm working on a system to hide the big plants, but it's not ready

Hi guys and guuurls and welcome back to Ant Queen 3D!

New Stuff



  • New amazing mushroom chambers have been added in the game
  • Mushroom chambers can be added just like egg chambers or replete chambers
  • Each mushroom chamber can hold between 10 and 20 mushrooms that can be harvested by the ants with cleaning mushroom task activated. When an ant cleans a mushroom, it becomes a food source and then ants that have the feeding task activated will go and use it to feed the queen or the repletes
  • Mushrooms duplicate over a random time and if the mushroom chamber where they are is saturated, they start the crumble the tunnels nearby and reducing the max room the colony has
  • After a water flood form a rainfall goes away, for each mushroom chamber you have a bunch of mushrooms will be created
  • New Ui buttons for the selection of ants. You can now select each ant class and each ant type. They are placed in group of 5 buttons each of one color Brown-red-yellow-green-blue
  • When the player clicks on an icon it opens a small menu where you can select +5 +15 +1/2 + 2/3 all. A text shows what are you selecting also ex: Selecting Yellow Diggers
  • Egg UI has also been changed. it has migrated next to the spawning buttons. It's not finish, but it's better than previous circle buttons
  • SHIFT key now deselects ants or cancels actions such as putting a chamber
  • Level 16 has been added. There are 4 grasshoppers that duplicate and you got 30min to kill all the grass hoppers on the map. The map really gets swarmed and the player needs to kill the 4 boss and all the spawned baby grasshoppers
  • You can now see how many slots a new chamber would have
  • Chamber visual system has been reversed. If a chamber has 3 spots, circles will appear when they are used


Fixed Bugs



  • If the player changes the speed during the game, the countdowns like npc spawning, ants losing food, etc will change accordingly and not only when they start back again
  • Activated NPC bosses will stay near their starting zone and not walk all over the map
  • I think i solved the issue where repletes would not get fed
  • Tunnels won't collapse anymore over a set time. Only mushrooms will create collapsing dirt blocks
  • Physiogastry value will not stay blocked at 0 anymore. I completely did a new equation with no possible zeros. Maybe it goes up too fast now. To be tested
  • Ant counts numbers have been reduce to fit more the circles
  • Fixed a bug where a replete would die while an ant would be on its way to feed it. The ant carrying the food would get stuck with food in its mouth and stop moving
  • Fixed a few rock collider issues that would break the pathfinding. If the player would have had the entrance under a rock the rocks will be destroyed
  • The player can no longer set patrollers while underground
  • Flood water won't go as high as before and it will start from down go up and go back down again
  • Grasshoppers of tier 3 a way bigger and more resistant
  • Level texts have been changed to explain to deselect with Shift key
  • Added the shift key in the small indicator at the lower part of the screen
  • As always, typos!!!


To Do



  1. Finish Level 16
  2. Add the Control key with scrolling of mouse or + - to increment or reduce the number of ants selected. Ex: if you have 3 workers, 4 diggers and 1 soldier, if you scroll up + hold control you would have 4,5,2 respectively
  3. Add Level 17 with the tutorial of mushroom chambers

FIXED STUFF



  • Physiogastry countdown was getting stuck at 0. It's a good math equation, but it has a flaw...getting stuck if it came to be zero.
  • Some times all the ants would freeze. The pathfinding grid was being separated into two grids and so upside and downworld would not be connected anymore. I played with a few values to prevent this from happening.
  • Soundtrack would be still be audible even if UI slider was set to zero
  • Changed a few text in campaign intros
  • Early levels tell the player to also activate feeding on nursers
  • Quest Ladder system fixed in sandbox more.
  • Beetle Speed was to high
  • Tuning of the task system for the ants
  • Tuning of the patrol system



WORK IN PROGRESS



  • Build Level 16 and forward
  • Work on new level objectives and not repeat previous levels

NEW STUFF


<*>The states of the working tasks the player assignes to each class are saved. Both for the sandbox and the campaign mode. I personally enjoy the feeling it give to the campaign mode since it follows the player from one level to the other.
<*>Water pond status are saved.
<*>There's a new button to set the patrollers on the left side of the screen. It activate the UI for all the patrol zones and after 4 seconds if no patrol unit was set, they all close down.
<*>The game now saves how many Soldiers or Super Soldiers you have assigned to each patrol zone.
<*>Some optimization with the saving and loading, specially about the dirt block inside and outside the colony
<*>New day and night system in the sandbox mode


FIXED STUFF



  • Missing executable in the previous launch
  • Winning condition of level 15. There was an issue with the level being completed at launch since there was no Ai ants on the map...BYE
  • The outside area dedicated to the dirt mount around the entrance is wider and there's a section that will always stay relatively low to not break the pathfinding grid
  • You can now highlight all the new queens with the center low UI buttons
  • The patrol UI for setting patrollers is smaller
  • Some of the text where fixed to support the new task saving
  • Early level actions have been adjusted to help the player understand



WORK IN PROGRESS



  • Working on the map of level of level 15, I just wasn't happy with the end result.
  • Bug with unlocking the blue/green ants
  • The NPC spawner system is being tuned more and more. It's slowly reaching a enjoyable gameplay with out having too many or too few NPCs on the map

I have been away for some time and this is a preview of the upcoming patch
The patch will go live on the 3 of august

There will be a master reset, If you don't want the new features and keep your game progress you can simply not update the game.

NEW STUFF


<*>The underground colony can be dug on many levels. This new feature has a lot of impact in the game play and it required a lot of changes regarding the code, the path finding and the saving of the players data. it’s looks really good, but on the down side a full reset of the game is required sorry.
<*>New achievements for unlocking the Colors of ants you can produce
<*>Red ants and yellow ants each have one stat boosted. Respectively attack and speed. Blue spec has more health and stores more food. Green ant have a minor boost on all stats
<*>The nuptial flight is the action that unlocks the ant Colors. 5 - 15 - 30 - 50.
<*>Patrol zones can have soldiers and/or super soldiers assigned. In the situation that you have 3 Soldiers and you assigned 3 Soldiers to a singe patrol zone, if you chose to assign a soldier to an other patrol zone, automatically a soldier is removed from the first patrol zone and added to the new chosen zone.
<*>Units won't try to get the same food part, dirt block or egg
<*>New alert button appear when you are under attack. Clicking it will teleport you to the area
<*>Physiogastey System for the egg spawning. This was requested from enough players to be implemented in the game. In nature, a queen cannot simply put eggs all the time, she basically build reserves of «eggs» that she will later spawn. So far, the queen will slowly build a physiogastry level and will give player an X number of ants she can spawn. If you have more than 0 as the physiogastry level, you can click on the spawn unit icons. The new egg will be added in a queue and after some time, the egg will be spawn.

FIXED STUFF



  • The outside mount created from the player digging was breaking the interior from the exterior. It should be fixed. To be confirmed.
  • The queen mouth position was always a stop behind in her last position
  • Hungry units were not taking food in some situations
  • The NPC spawning system has been changed again!!
  • The water levels have been adjusted to new possible digging height
  • The raining events are more random and spaced appart
  • Colliders of food zones have been adjusted to no block the hovering events of the mouse
  • There is a number of not dug dirt block that blocks the player from digging more. This values has been augmented allowing the player to dig more
  • When the player digs, less dirt blocks are created
  • You can once again rotate the camera with the arrows and the right mouse
  • Switching views will close down the digging assistant, unless your at level 2 in the campaign
  • There was a small background music even if you settled to the volume to zero.
  • The center button for selection shows the total number of ants you control


WORK IN PROGRESS



  • A lot of Ai work has been done. Some ants where standing still after a few events.
  • Ai enemy colony gameplay
  • The animator will be ready to work mid of August and the new skin will be added in during the month
  • The animator will also work on the physiogastry of the Queen

Game reset - August 10

In 3 weeks from now, around the 10 of August, there will be a big patch an a reset will be required. Sorry for the inconvenience, but believe me it's going to be worth it.

WHY?!

Layered Digging

because I am adding a new feature that will allow you to dig on multiple layers inside your colony. You will be able to dig way further down, add new chambers on top of other chambers, there will be a new temperature system that will affect the growth of eggs, the water levels will not go all the way up, etc..

I would love to give you the update faster, but my PC is out or reach.

NEW STUFF



  • Super soldiers are now faster than workers, but slower than Soldiers.
  • I’m almost ashamed of this one... when a unit dies, the space it was using is “reopen”
  • New calculations for the amount of dirt created when the player digs. It correlates to the ammount of tunnels you have
  • First draft of the NPC spawner system. The difficulty has been lower. The amount of ants that would boost the level of NPCs is higher. The time between spawning is more random.


FIXED STUFF



  • The dirt blocks on the ground won’t prevent the user from pointing the ground to add a new nursing or replete chamber.
  • Replet ants that have been moved, will walk towards a new replete chamber. It also works if you leave a replete outside of the colony. If no chambers are free, they will still go inside the colony
  • As usual, a few typos
