This is a small patch with improvements to general performance of the game as well as one crash fix.
Changelog
Improved level loading times. Depending on your machine, you may see even multiple seconds shaved off of all loading screen times.
Improved performance (FPS) across the whole game. However, if your FPS never dipped below 60 in the past, you won't see a difference, because the game is capped to 60 FPS anyway.
Fixed time slowing down when FPS falls below 60. Now the world is simulated using a dynamic time scale, which means that the game will behave mostly the same even if the framerate falls below 60.
Fixed a crash that would rarely happen when killing a worm type enemy.

Anniversary update 1.9.0!
Hello everyone, and happy birthday to Ants Took My Eyeball!
Today marks the first anniversary of Ants Took My Eyeball, woohoo!
Thank you to all of you for playing the game, spreading the word and supporting us. We made this game because we love roguelike games, and we're happy to see that all of you roguelike fans out there have been enjoying it so far.
During this one year, we've made quite a lot of improvements and added new content. Mid-run saving, a new miniboss, new elite types, music cassette collection, many quality of life improvements, and more than 80 new items.
And that’s not all. We are currently working on a bigger update that will add much more variety to the main gameplay, as well as more difficult end game content for those who are looking for that extra challenge.
To celebrate the anniversary, we wanted to release one more smaller content update before the big one. It contains 11 new items, many of which are birthday related!

Patch notes v1.8.1
Hello everyone!
In this update we bring various miscellaneous fixes and improvements, as well as some updates to the final boss fights.
Ever since launch we’ve been a bit unsatisfied with the final bosses, as we weren’t able to spend as much time on them as we wanted to. We finally took the time and gave them the polish they needed. They should now be more challenging and less chaotic, and hopefully generally more enjoyable.
We also took the time to go through the list of bugs and small improvement ideas that has accumulated over time.
Here’s the full list of changes:
Updated the final bosses
Reduced clutter and chaos.
Adjusted balance.
Added a lot of sound effects.
Improved lighting.
Made Mato more challenging
Doubled the health.
Made the speed boost more dangerous.
Slightly adjusted the level layout.
Fixes and other improvements
Changed the electric elite projectiles to be smaller and last for a shorter time and slowly move towards the target.
Changed the poison elite’s poison cloud to last for a shorter time.
Changed the explosive elite corpse to explode slightly faster.
Changed the ice elite slow effect to last a bit longer.
Added more platforms to soul arenas.
Fixed some typos.
Fixed Ritual Dagger not working on cable plugs.
Improved aim assists for weapons that shoot projectiles in an arc.
Fixed explosive weapons not critting properly.
Fixed Orbital Spinner keeping on spinning even when the game is paused.
Fixed a bug where a gadget item wouldn't be thrown if the gadget activation button was tapped very quickly.
Fixed pathfinding issues where Mato would either get stuck in place or move back into itself.
Fixed Mato being able to move through walls while Burning or Blazing.
Updated Phantom Barrel’s description to match its behavior more accurately, as it only works with direct projectile hits.
Fixed minor issues with the Hideout Renovations UI.
Fixed Helmet Worm sometimes not deflecting projectiles with its helmet as it’s supposed to.
Fixed a rare crash that would happen when a Hard Beetle was killed.
Fixed player being able to prevent Fly Twins from getting to their weapons at the beginning of the fight.
Fixed projectile deflection fields sometimes not deflecting projectiles.
Fixed homing projectiles sometimes homing towards unintuitive and inaccessible targets.
Fixed carried items jumping around and looking all silly sometimes.

We are back with another content update, this time focusing on adding more weapons, and especially those of the Fine quality.

This small patch brings a fix to a crash and a couple of bug fixes.

We’ve added a bunch of new items, mostly gadgets, and made gadgets more powerful in general. We’ve also reworked the throwing system, so that throwing your melee weapon is now a much more effective strategy. In addition to this, there’s some other improvements, such as reduced gem costs for Hideout Renovations, some item balancing and new voices for players 2-4.

Gadget points now require more kills to get than they used to, but most gadgets use fewer gadget points when activated.

Improved normal pot graphics to better reflect whether they contain gold or not.
Fix game getting unpaused if the player’s controller gets disconnected while the pause menu is open.
Pause the game automatically if all players’ controllers are disconnected.

Patch v1.6.3 - New enemy elite types
Hey all! It's time for a small update.
Almost any regular enemy may spawn as an elite, which is a more challenging version of the enemy. So far we've had three elite types: fire, ice and poison elemental. In this patch we've added six new elite types:
Acid elemental: Drops acid when hit.
Electric elemental: Creates a ball of lightning after taking enough damage.
Gold elemental: Slow but strong and drops lots of gold when killed.
Imu Mygga cultist: Heals itself if it hasn't been damaged for a moment.
Saint Rekoil cultist: Explodes when killed.
Aave Sirkka cultist: Respawns nearby dead bodies as ghosts.

In addition to these new elite types, as always, we've fixed miscellaneous small bugs and crashes.
