Anvil Saga

Update Anvil Saga now to play the second chapter!

Greetings to all the gifted blacksmiths!

The second story chapter for Anvil Saga is out – launch Steam to download it. Get ready to forge horseshoes for peasants, armor for knights, and custom orders for some very special customers.

The update will continue the story from day 21 to 40. You'll find out more about the Church, the Witches, and why Baron fears for his safety.

We've added bulk faction orders to the story and sandbox modes. These will allow you to earn more money or greatly improve your relationships with factions by earning reputation points.

In addition, we've added a range of new special customers!

IMPORTANT: old saves are not compatible with the new version of Anvil Saga. We recommend you start a new game.

Thank you to all of the players who helped us test the update and look for any insidious bugs. The Baron is proud of each and every one of you.

Download the game and share your impressions in the Steam Discussions or on our Discord.

25% off Anvil Saga and Chapter 2 update date!

Greetings to all the gifted blacksmiths!

We have some fantastic news for you! The next chapter in Arthur's story will be released on March 1. Get ready to meet brand new characters and interact with the ones you already love (or hate).

And to celebrate the new update, you'll be able to buy Anvil Saga for a 25% discount from February 15 to February 22. If you're still undecided, check out the game's trailer:

The tension between the Witches and the Church is increasing, and despite his best attempts to stay neutral, Arthur will be dragged into their squabbles. During the second chapter of the story, you'll have to choose a side – each will affect the forge in different ways.

The war between England and France rages on, and Arthur is caught between them. The Baron will need to fortify his castle – swords alone won't protect him. Will Arthur help the Baron or turn him away? The choice is yours.

Finally, you'll have a chance to improve your relationships with the various factions, or earn more money with the new 'bulk order' mechanics. The merchant Antonio will approach you from time to time with large orders for you to choose from. These will reward Arthur with reputation points or money for a job well done.

We hope you enjoy the update. Be sure to share your impressions of the game with us here or on Discord.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and shared kind words about Anvil Saga. They give us the strength to forge ahead and craft the best game possible.

Regards,
Anvil Saga Team

Try out Arthur's new adventure while it's in beta!

Greetings to all the gifted blacksmiths!

We're pleased to announce that the long-awaited continuation of the Anvil Saga is right around the corner. You'll help Arthur try to balance love, life, and forging new orders for customers.

After the first blacksmithing competition at the fair, did you walk away as a winner or a loser? It's almost time for the next competition and you'll be able to either hold your title as the best blacksmith in the region, or plot revenge against your arch-rival, Jean Jacques.

We've also added a bulk order mechanic. You can now fulfill a large order for one of the factions to raise your reputation and make some coin. It's a great way to improve your business!

Meet the Anvil Saga team!

Greetings to all the gifted blacksmiths!

New Year's Eve is upon us! While you're getting ready to celebrate with your family and friends, we decided to introduce you to the Anvil Saga team. In this post, we'll share what each one of us handles on the project, why we love Anvil Saga, and what inspires us to forge a game about being a blacksmith.

Timur, the author and programmer at Anvil Saga.

I've always liked games and wanted to create one of my own. I started to get interested in gaming at the age of 13 – it all started with learning Game Maker. After about a year, I switched to Unity and a year after that, my first project, Life is Hard, was available on Steam.

I've been developing almost every day since then, and it's safe to say that it's my hobby and favorite thing to do – it's not a job. Also, I've always loved history, and Anvil Saga, as a game in a historical setting, is perfect for me.

I love watching other people play Anvil Saga. Seeing tens of thousands of people play your project is an indescribable feeling. Since I'm the only programmer on the team, there were – and still are – quite a few challenges. But I see the project getting better and better each month, and that inspires me to work more.

I wish all players more awesome games and more spare time to play them.

Evgeny, creative alias Pixel_Poem, pixel art artist and animator.

I've been working on Arthur's adventures for about two years now, and I'm responsible for all the visuals in the game. Before Anvil Saga, I spent several years working on Police Stories and created some very discreet projects for myself.

I love pixel art, classic 2D or 3D doesn't really appeal to me. The process of drawing and animation is like working with a mosaic, the most important thing is to arrange the squares in the right order, add a little chaos, and the output ends up being a cool picture or animation. To work with all this, I am inspired by my beloved wife Katerina.

Anvil Saga is my craziest project – in a good way. It's hard to find such fun, tons of references, and humor wrapped up in the harsh everyday life of a young blacksmith. It's because of this craziness that I am grateful for the game and our team. A special thanks to our producer, Daniil, because without him, this fun would be out of control.

And to you, dear players, I want to wish you a happy New Year. And most importantly – good pixel games. ;)

Peter, the narrative designer of Anvil Saga.

Anvil Saga was my first gameplay project, for which I am very grateful! I enjoy creating and designing characters and events, and really hope they bring you enjoyable emotions. Blacksmith Arthur and his friends (as well as enemies) are already like family, and I'm always excited to create new quests.

My work is inspired by cool games, of which there are more every year. I believe the gaming industry has an incredible future, and I'm excited to be a small part of it.

To all the players of Anvil Saga, I wish you a great New Year! May the customers pay the blacksmith generously in 2023, may there always be enough materials, and may the French finally make peace with the English! Happy holidays to all!

Daniil, a producer on the HeroCraft PC side and a game designer.

I started my journey in game design as a marketer, but I quickly realized that I was more interested in the development process itself, so I first moved into project management, and then into production.

What I love most about my work is to see how ideas are implemented into real content and mechanics, and how they form a cohesive game. I don't like routines. What inspires me to work is the path from the beginning to the final result. I love comparing the early versions to the final. I can't help but be motivated by the way projects change from prototype to final game.

Anvil Saga is like my adopted child. The lovely visual style, witty dialogues, and gameplay that allows you to catch a wave while relaxing – at the same time, it requires concentration and decision-making. When I worked on Anvil Saga, I wanted to make the game to please me as a player first, not as a producer. I hope that it pleases you as well.

My wish for all players is that their forges grow and develop, and their provinces experience not a hundred years of war, but rather a thousand years of prosperity.

Our team is small but very friendly and hardworking. We love Anvil Saga and strive to make the game as original and exciting as possible, so that you will love it even more.

Stay in touch with us here and on Discord. We love the Anvil Saga community and always read your thoughts and suggestions about the game.

Anvil Saga Team

Christmas Update Hotfix

Greetings to all the gifted blacksmiths!

We fixed the saves. Hooray. Now after loading the old saves, the furniture, décor and employees of the smithy will remain in place.

Hurry up and update your game.

Regards,
Anvil Saga Team.

Santa and blizzards? Find out what's going on in Anvil Saga.

Greetings to all the gifted blacksmiths!

We are grateful to all the wonderful players who participated in testing the update while it was still in beta. Today we're sharing a brand new festive Anvil Saga update with all of Arthur's fans.

We've added events for new modifiers: Beaujolais Day, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Christmas, Eclipse, and Blizzard. You'll need to help Santa delight the village kids for Christmas and surprise the youth with original hearts for Valentine's Day.

There is a change to the reputation of witches and priests. It will now change to -5 when they meet in the queue.

The characters will now react a little differently when they're hungry. If a character has less than 30% satiation left, they will immediately eat the food after cooking it, instead of putting a bowl on the table.

Fixed bugs in the new update:

  • Fixed stuck customers waiting in line – We're sorry that you have to put up with undignified customer behavior from update to update. The thing is, this bug is caused by different reasons, so these are more like variations of the same bug.
  • Fixed disappearing items from complex orders.
  • Fixed a bug where if Arthur read a book, no other smith could read it.
  • Fixed the carpenter's sign that would not appear at the entrance when the forge was upgraded.
  • Fixed a bug where the game didn't consider the wooden crafting workbench put in the room, and the red exclamation point on the room kept lighting up.
  • Fixed infinitely sellable vault for ore.
  • Fixed a bug in which some interface elements became unclickable.

IMPORTANT: old saves are not compatible with the new version of Anvil Saga. We recommend you start a new game. If you want to complete the previous game, download the updated build in beta. To get there, select "Properties", then "Betas" and select the available version: Legacy build 0.14.2 for older saves.

We hope this update of Anvil Saga will bring you a lot of fun and many hours of enjoyable gaming over the holiday season!

Give us your feedback here or on Discord. We always welcome new ideas for the game.

Regards,
Anvil Saga Team
