The update is now live for both the full game and the 1 level demo. Here is what has changed:
- Modified backgrounds to take less processing power at the cost of more RAM. *
- Modified menus so all controllers work rather than just the first controller.
* For slower CPUs this will improve performance when a screen is full of bullets. My slower 2.1 gHz PC (edit 2.4 gHz) would go from 60 fps to 30 when the screen had 200+ bullets during boss battles and specific levels. Now it slowly drops down to 50 fps.
* The new background system should generate a wider variety of things. So the few levels that use the same background elements can feel a bit different than they used to. Some backgrounds are even randomly tilted to different angles.
Version 1.3 Various Fixes
There is a new version of the demo out. Here are the fixes for version 1.3:
- Fixed crash when a whirlpool sucks in bits that fly off damaged enemies.
- Fixed bubbles turning into squares.
- Fixed instructions so they work on the demo.
- Modified bosses to explode with more stars.
- Added the missing characters from the Turkish alphabet.
The next update (1.4) will include a bunch of performance enhancements. The backgrounds will change to require less processing power so the game should run better when the screen is full of bullets.
Version 1.1 & 1.2 The Easier Update
- Fixed Leaderboard issue that prevented the top 10 on the leaderboards from showing.
- Added single screen mode that prevents the screen from panning left and right. This should make it a lot easier and it feels different to play.
- Added minor explosions before larger enemies blow up.
- Added a small numeric indicator for how many stars you have. 500 stars drops a weapon upgrade.
- Added a visual compatibility mode for the rare chance that someone sees the fractured triangle glitch caused by hardware processing.
- Modified the star patterns for larger enemies so when they explode into what looks more like fireworks.
- Modified smoke effect to make it more subtle.
- Modified German translation to have a single word changed
- Modified difficulties to shoot less bullets. Several of the lesser vessels fired one or three, now the only fire one at a time.
- Modified cracker cannon to explode at the top of the screen rather than the original mechanism where the player would detonate the projectile.
- Modified enemies to have less health.
- Modified debris to disappear if the frame rate begins to drop because of it.
- Removed the screen shot statement.
VERSION 1.2
- Fixed a crash with one of the bosses making the new mini explosion.
- Removed sparks when enemies get shot. Debris still falls off.
Testing Update #13: Steam Cloud Syncronization
To spice up a dull update, I'll say that combine with Steam Clouds and the lucky number 13 these are thunderous Steam clouds unleashing bad luck upon all those who are under it! Test it now... IF YOU DARE! *cough* oh here's the update:
- Added Steam Cloud support.
- Modified the level selection to unlock levels as you get to them. Testers can still play any level.
- Fixed a bomb bug.
- Removed bullet sounds as they were just everywhere, always.
- Removed Russian language support from the store until the game is translated.
Steam integration is now 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Does anyone have any ideas on what else to add or improve on?
For the testers, here is the 12th update that includes a lot of stuff:
- Steam badges have been approved... the cards are flowing!
- Added Steam leaderboards. **
- Added different particle effects when an enemy gets shot and explodes. *+
- Added skins for purchase in the scrapyard.
- Added S tokens to purchase skins. ***
- Added 10 skins, each with their own hit box.
- Added Steam card descriptions.
- Added an extra achievement for completing a level with a skin.
- Improved the start game load time by a few seconds during the 89 - 91% range.
- Modified the Scrapyard format to show vessel images first, then text. It makes everything align better.
- Fixed slow movement for keyboard users.
- Fixed Steam screenshots.
- Fixed the timer from continuing after a level has ended.
- Modified the each level of forever abyss and daily challenge to include a wave from a previous and the next level for the sake of diversity.
- Modified the sound effect volume to be less pronounced.
- Replaced the impact sound effect with something more pleasant.
- Removed old unused bosses from the boss rush.
** There are dozens of leaderboards, two for each level that consist of highest score and lowest time. There are leaderboards for each campaign as well including the daily campaign and each of its levels. Your local high scores have a robust amount of details that the leaderboards fail to have. I have only started to make the visual representation of the leaderboards in game. Now with the tough stuff out of the way, improving the look should go quick.
*+ The particle effects go away from the projectile and when an enemy explodes the particles too go away from the projectile. This is to keep the screen relatively clean in a game that's just full of stuff.
*** To get a S token, fill a new meter to 25 points. Completing a level will give you the same number of points as the level. Beating the first level will give you a single point, while completing level 3 will give you 3 points and so on. This will allow you to get a S token for completing a campaign of seven levels. Otherwise, you can finish the first level twenty-five times for what has to be around 2 hours.

D18.11 Testing Update
The D18.11 update is out for the testers and there are two major things with such a minor update:
- Added a slow speed movement control. **
- Added a skin system by pressing down when you select a vessel. ***
- Modified the level names in the language files.
- Modified location of language to be at the top of the settings. *+
- Modified language to change instantly in the menu rather than on save.
- Modified the loading screen at the start of the game to have no flicker and be far more efficient.
- Added Turkish language support with its special set of characters.
- Added names for all vessels and renamed a few.
- Added new unique achievement icons 44 out of 54.
- Fixed a slew of startup crashes on my much older PC.
- Fixed the text size when you would go into a game, then go into the control configuration.
DETAILS:
To keep the bullet points down to a short list up top, here are the details:
** Using this new control function will move you one third the speed. I have included it because keyboard users are at a severe disadvantage without an analog stick for sensitive movement. For the testers, this will reset any of your saved presets. Sorry about that. As always, all keys and buttons can be rebound.
*** While there are 20+ playable vessels, the skins replace the vessel (and hit box). This may take a while to flesh out, test and balance, but there are 3 weeks until the game comes out. Some skins are used for just one vessel, while others can replace any vessel.
*+ If a player were to select an incorrect language on their first time playing, it could be a pain to find their language so far into the settings menu.
