The end of April seems wonderful! The spring is finally here, birds are chirping, and everything is green. We have something green for you as well. Not wickedly green, though. Don't come looking for Elfaba, please.
April's update brings...
...one new plant and three new stones! Riccia Fluitans is often used as a carpet plant. It looks like moss, grows like moss, but it's not one. Your new rocks are something almost straight-out-of-a-fairytale. Mountain Rock will give you a piece of summer vacation, and both Lion Rocks will make you want to go ROOOAAAAR.
About animations
I would like to address the subject you've been asking about. And we totally understand that you want to see better animations in the game. We want them too. That's why we have a new person on the team who keeps working on improving them. I've seen the first videos, and trust me, they look great! You're gonna be happy with the improvements. After this is delivered, we will be working on adding new animations and fish behavior to the game. Hopefully, with time, we will be able to connect them with a new system of healthy relationships between both fish of different species and fishes of the same species.

Aquarium Designer DLC: Sea Life is coming!
Dear Designers,
As we're swimming right into spring (though in Poland, it's hard to talk about spring when we have snow laying on the streets - yes, Mother Nature pulled a prank on us on April Fools' Day and "let it snow" all of a sudden), we've decided to share something new with you. Something that many of you have been asking for since the game launched. And we're finally ready to say that it's happening. To be more exact...
Aquarium Designer DLC: Sea Life is coming to you in the Summer of 2022!
Aquarium Designers, it's time for you to show everyone what else you can create! Complete new quests and read new interesting facts on fish and the marine environment. Meet saltwater species of fish and plants, and introduce corals, seashells, and sea salt to your aquariums. Design a new beautiful home for clownfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, wrasses, and more.
Create a beautiful underwater kingdom and watch it thrive!
Remember that we're open to your suggestions for new fish and plants. We would also love to get any constructive feedback if you would wish to share it with us. You can write it down in a special thread in the Steam Discussions.
That being said, let us assure you that the DLC doesn't mean an end of free updates. Absolutely not! We're working hard on them and preparing some wonderful new content for you to see in the upcoming months.
Just keep swimming, our dear Designers! Sea Life DLC will take to the sea this Summer!
Best regards, Aquarium Designer team
SimFest is here!
Hi Designers,
Today we're just popping up here to let you know that Sim Fest: Hobby Edition has started. Although Aquarium Designer isn't discounted there, you can enjoy our developers playing the game on a stream.
Oh, and get ready for something special! We'll reveal it in the upcoming weeks! Meanwhile, you can try and guess what it is in the comments!
Just keep swimming,
Team Aquarium Designer
March update: a new heater and some upgrades
Dear Designers,
Thank you for your feedback on the new functionality of planting plants on rocks, etc.! We're hoping you'll be satisfied with all the next ones as well.
A new heater and...
As March is coming to an end, we have another update for you. This time it's a bit smaller, but, once again, we're listening to your wishes. We've added one new heater and upgraded two plants - Anubias and Dwarf Baby Tears - so that you could plant them on rocks, roots, and decorations. This will add even more creativity to your designs and hopefully, you'll have more fun as well.
We smell something fishtastic coming!
I can also tell you that we have a big announcement coming up soon! We all hope you'll like the news as we cannot wait to reveal this to you!
For now, though, remember to join our Discord if you want to talk with other enthusiasts.
Fixes and improvements
We've also improved some elements of the game:
you can now turn plants while planting them on rock, roots, and decorations,
"favorite" category should save your favorite items after turning the game off and on,
any translation errors reported by you are fixed (hopefully!),
fixed "All fish with intermediate care level" requirement,
fixed Blue Ram Cichlid care level information,
Stay safe, stay healthy, and keep an eye on Aquarium Designer as we've only just begun this amazing adventure that is its development. We still have a lot in plans!
May your Easter be merry and joyful!
Best regards, Aquarium Designer team
February update: plants on stones and roots and a new fish
Dear Designers,
Today we wish you a happy World Aquarium Day! And we have something special for you due to this occasion: a functionality that you've been asking for, new plants, and a new fish! Sounds great, right?
Okefenokee Pygmy Sunfish
In January, we've asked you to choose a fish that will appear in the February update. You've voted for Okefenokee Pygmy Sunfish! This tiny little beauty is available for you in today's update!
Plants on stones, roots, and decorations
Since Aquarium Designer launched, you've been asking us to enable planting various plants on stones, roots, and decorations. Well, we've made that happen! Along with the functionality, there are two new plants: Java Fern and Java Moss. We hope that this set will allow you to add a completely new look to your aquariums!
A quick survey once again!
We have one more survey for you. As you've been asking us for saltwater fish A LOT, we would like to answer a few questions. You can find the form here!
Our beloved Designers, thank you once again for believing in Aquarium Designer and supporting us since the day it launched! You're an amazing community, and we couldn't wish for anything more!
Just keep swimming,
Aquarium Designer team
January update to start a 2022 with a splash
Hi Designers,
It's finally here - the new update! I know, it's been only a month since we've released the Christmas one. However, we couldn't wait to share this one with you for some time now. Why? Well, we have something that you have wished for since the game launched in October 2021. And this is...
Rotating objects in every possible direction
Go on and explore your creativity even more with this new functionality that will allow you to rotate stones, decorations (almost all of them to avoid breaking the law of physics), and roots in any direction you want to. Bring your creations to a whole new level!
But that's not all! We've also prepared some QoL upgrades and fixes like:
Further optimization of the game
Support for French keyboards
Endler's Guppy model is now correctly portrayed
Prizes of covers are now more accurate
Fishes and plants names are now more correct in orthography aspects
Monthly Updates
Since Aquarium Designer launched, we've been preparing at least one update per month. Usually, it was mostly fixing any bugs. From this day on, we've decided to give you a bit of new free content each month. One day it will be new functionality, and the other you'll get a new quest or a new fish, plant, decor, etc. You name it. We're incredibly happy to have such a dedicated community as ours, and we want to fulfill your (and ours as well) dreams :) That's why...
Fan Favorite vote
For the February update, we want to add one new fish to the game. However this time, the choice is fully yours! Your voices in this survey decide about the species that's gonna appear in our game :) We need time to prepare the right model and information on the fish, so the voting will last for only 5 days. Hopefully, we will get as many votes as possible :)
So that's it for January! Of course, the Christmas mode will disappear for now but you can expect it back in the game next December :)
Keep on swimming and let us know, how do you like this new functionality, Aquarium Designer team
Major Update #1: Signed, Sealed, Delivered - it's yours!
Dear Designers,
The last two months were full of hard work and tons of research. We've asked you plenty of times about what you would like to see in our game and how we can improve your experience with it. Once again, your feedback gave us lots of ideas and caused every discussion about the game's development to be rich in new decisions. We want to thank you for that and for believing in us! Every note and advice helps us make Aquarium Designer the game - or a designing tool - that you've always wanted to have (even if you didn't know about that).
Major Update #1
In November, we have promised to deliver you some free content. Well, catch the first batch as our Christmas gift for you! Let us be your AquaSanta!
What's in the new update?

five new plants
five new decorations
a new functionality: floating plants!
a new cover with a light

four new gravels

a Christmas mode (available only for a short amount of time!)
a possibility of turning off the background (and creating your aquarium in a blank dark space)
a Vacation mode (available in free play if you need a break from taking care of your aquaria every day and don't want to lose your fish and plants)
All of these come with many bug fixes & our continuous work on the achievements, so they work properly. You will also find many new decorations' descriptions and other new texts in the game.
Winter Sale
Aquarium Designer is available on Steam's Winter Sale with a 20% discount right now! Buy it now... or regret it forever :)
More work! We're trying to make proper research for the next update and various DLCs. As usual, we're open to your suggestions! For now, I can only tell you that we're looking into the saltwater environment and some new functionalities like planting plants on rocks, roots, and decorations. If you wanna share your advice on that topic, let us know!
May your Christmas be jolly and full of warmth and good wishes! What we would like to get for Christmas? Well, more positive reviews of our game! Nothing surprising, right? We hope that thanks to your feedback and our hard work we will be able to improve the experience of many players. Keep your fins crossed for that, please! And remember to leave a review on Steam, if you like our game and want to recommend it to other players! It would be the best Christmas gift we can imagine :)
Stay safe and ho-ho-ho, Aquarium Designer team
Steam Awards 2021: Sit Back and Relax
Dear Designer,
We have one more task for you. You see, we have that little game called Aquarium Designer... You've probably heard of it. Maybe you might have even played it and created an aquarium or two. There are some designers that come back to it every day. Really! Isn't that fishtastic?
Steam Awards 2021: Sit Back and Relax!
Anyway, Steam Awards 2021 are on and you can nominate your favorite game of the year. We're participating in the run for the Sit Back and Relax Award (the last one on the list). It would be great if you could nominate us for it as well!
Oh, and congrats on your latest design! You know, the one you did for us! We love it with all our hearts!
