Physical Release!

Hey Fans,

Stegosoft and DANGEN have been working for the past year to get a physical edition of Ara Fell and Rise of the Third Power made, and we can finally announce that we've done it!



I know a lot of folks have been asking where they can find a soundtrack for these two games, and I'm happy to share that we've secured the rights to have Ara Fell's soundtrack included in the collector's edition. In total, there's about ~30 songs on the CD!

There's some other cool stuff in the collector's box, too. Here's the full contents:

  • Ara Fell soundtrack CD
  • A double-sided cloth map of Lita's hand-drawn map of Ara Fell
  • An enamel pin of half the Rise party ferrying in Lilly's boat

Plus the game box looks pretty amazing - I personally cant wait to have it on my shelf.

Thanks to everyone that encouraged us to make this happen. I think I'm looking forward to getting a copy of this as much as you are!

The World of Ara Fell - Elves, Humans and Vampires

Welcome to The World of Ara Fell! In this series, we will be taking a closer look at Ara Fell's lore and culture. In this first entry, we focus on the three types of characters in the game.

-Elves-

The elves were the first of the Goddess' children. It is said they had helped see Ara Fell lifted into the sky, and were blessed with magic and long lives for their service.

The elves lived in peace and prosperity, and their kingdom spanned all the islands of Ara Fell. One day, vampires appeared; the spawn of the fallen, dead gods.

Elves were masters of sunlight magic, while vampires mastered the shadows. They challenged the elves, hoping to capture and destroy the sacred Sunstone; the source of Ara Fell's power.

The elves had lived in peace for so long that they were unprepared to fight, and the vampires defeated them. To protect the sunstone, they sealed it away in darkness.

They then changed themselves to stone, hoping that one day, someone would break this Stone Curse and revive them, so that they in turn might unseal the Sunstone.


-Humans-

Humans are a young race that lived in small tribes when the elves ruled Ara Fell. The war between elves and vampires rocked the world, and most of them died.

After the elves turned themselves to stone, mankind began to build kingdoms and villages of their own, while the vampires lurked in the shadows.

Unlike the elves, who were peaceful and unprepared for war, the world of men vowed to never be caught unaware, or ever become too weak to fight.


-Vampires-

Little is known of vampires. They are shadow beings that employ the use of black magic. They are deathly allergic to sunlight, and must consume raw, fresh blood in order to survive.

It appears as though they can subsist partially by the blood of animals, but still, they hunt and attack humans regularly.

Vampirism is a disease that is spread by their bites. The victim of a bite will either be killed
by the disease or turn into a vampire themselves if not immediately treated.

Application of blessed water and herbal remedies are believed to help stop the infection. In rare occasions, people have recovered from vampire bites.

A MILLION BUG FIXES!

Hey all, we've released the first major patch on Steam! Thank you all for reporting the bugs you found, and for being patient over the last couple weeks while we've been working on fixing them.

Given that this is our first patch, we're going to wait and see how it does for a day before we start the process to push it to other platforms.
Here's the full list of changes:

WORLD

-Fixed light and shadow layers - map lighting should be waaay more enjoyable now
-Fixed misc. impassable tiles
-Fixed misc. missing tiles
-Fixed misc. map teleporters resulting in a stuck spot
-Stepping on the teleporter at the end of the Arei obstacle course now teleports you instead of needing to press OK
-Fixed issue with Adrian disappearing in the Hunting Range
-The screen now properly resets to its original position after screen shakes complete
-Fixed battle music in Holy Land after teleporting there
-Fixed battle music in East Dian's Gulley
-Fixed battle music after fighting the star witch
-Fixed old man NPC quest conditions in Temple Orlian
-Fixed vendor nun in Orlian Temple basement after completing ghost busters quest
-Fixed a stuck spot in the outdoor area of the Cave of Life
-The apple toss mini-game will get slightly easier if you fail it multiple times
-Fixed player double sprite after the Ziam battle
-Fixed the Talani vendor icon in Eldrinor
-Fixed Lita and Adrian overlap on bridge outside of Aloria
-Fixed potential event command weirdness in the intro

QUESTS

-Fixed issue with turning in bounties without ever receiving the quest
-Fixed issue where the Bunny Girl Bandit quest would never complete. **For anyone with this issue, talk to the bounty collector in Aloria to have it get completed**
-The apothecary no longer steals all of your wasp wings

UI

-Added the ability to change the highlight color via the settings menu. This won't properly take effect on the title screen.. just ignore that please!
-When pixel perfect mode is off and the screen is wider than 16:9, the game will now fill the entire height of the screen and will set the width to whatever the corresponding value should be in order to be 16:9. If this causes anyone to see seams, you can turn pixel perfect mode back on!

COMBAT

-Added a new "Fast Battle Animations" option in the video settings that doubles the speed of attack and skill animations in battle
-The player icons now appear above the ult bar instead of below it
-The ult bar now charges at the end of the round instead of the beginning (this includes when combat ends!)
-The anticipation enchantment works now
-The "Might of the Abyss" achievement can now be unlocked when the difficulty is set to story mode (but the story mode ability won't unlock it!)
-The game will no longer hang on a black screen occasionally after combat ends
-Fixed the text position of skills being used by fire sprites in the Holy Land

SKILLS

-Lita's Holy Strength augmentation for the Elven Focus skill now properly adds to physical damage as well as magical
-The AoE version of Lita's charged shot no longer occasionally skips over enemies

MISC

-Added the game version number to the title screen
-Updated some dialogue text
-Vendors now reset when they're supposed to

LEGACY SUPPORT

-Fixed the issues surrounding the game failing to inform users about how to launch the legacy version of the game when old save files are detected
PS4-specific
-Added the ability to toggle "Pixel Perfect" mode on/off, which will add black borders around the game when it can't perfectly fit the screen, in order to prevent pixel stretching
-Added a few minimal video settings
Switch-specific
-Added the ability to toggle "Pixel Perfect" mode on/off, which will add black borders around the game when it can't perfectly fit the screen, in order to prevent pixel stretching

Xbox-specific

-Pixel perfect is now disabled by default, to have the game fill the screen
-Added instructions to the first-time-user screen, removed all of the settings options except for Language, and added a note about being able to configure the controls in the Settings menu
-Touchscreen controls are now visible by default
-Pressing a button on a gamepad no longer makes the touchscreen buttons appear
-The game now supports both landscape left and landscape right screen orientation

Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition now available!

Greetings Ara Fell fans! We are pleased to announce that Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition is now live on Steam!

The new Enhanced Edition features a slew of upgrades, including a revamped battle system, new character classes and skills, new side quests, an overhauled UI, upgraded crafting system, new enchanting system, enhanced aspect ratios, new difficulty modes, an autosave feature, Twitch integration, and more!

Users who previously owned Ara Fell will receive the update automatically! New customers can now purchase the Enhanced Edition for $14.99.

Whether you're a veteran Ara Fell fan or playing for the first time, now is a great time to dive into the world of Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition!

Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition open beta has begun!

Hey everyone! For those of you who don't know, for the last year or so, we've been working on the "enhanced edition" of Ara Fell, which constitutes a massive update that we intend to make free to anyone who already owns a copy of the game! Before we can go live, we've needed to do some testing, and it's finally ready for open beta!

To Download:



  1. In your Steam game library, right-click Ara Fell, go to Properties, click the Beta tab
  2. Enter the password: afeebetarawr
  3. Press 'check code'
  4. From the drop down list, select "opt into beta"


To Play:


In your game library, launch Ara Fell, and when prompted to pick which "Ara Fell" to run, choose the second of the two options. If you pick the wrong one it'll give you an error message.

Submitting Bugs:


While playing, hit F5 to bring up the bug submission window. You don't need to fill out both the title and the description, just throw as much text as you think is necessary to let us know about the issue. When you hit submit, it'll upload a screenshot (of the game, not your PC), your most recent autosave, a fresh save, your notes, and it'll tag it with your Steam display name. Thanks!

Testing Tools:



  • Press 'T' to toggle collision on/off. Be aware, while collision is off you'll be unable to trigger events, so you'll need to turn it back on in order to zone or interact with objects
  • Use + and - to change the game's play speed, up to 10x. Be aware that while the game is running at a faster rate, some input buttons may be triggered more than once with a single press.

Known Issues:



  • The only supported language is English
  • Some gamepads might not be mapped yet - let us know if you encounter a broken gamepad, please! (And to map it, go to settings -> devices -> map gamepad)
  • Twitch mode isn't finished yet, if you use it, you're entering into untested territory. But to use it, put your Twitch channel in the textbox that appears when you toggle it on. It'll connect when you close the settings menu. You should see community voting polls appear when you're outside town - out in the world or in dungeons
  • Steam achievements aren't enabled yet
  • There are some UI issues in battle when running at a 4:3 aspect ratio (we recommend making your game window 16:9 or 16:10! It auto-resizes as you resize the window when you aren't playing fullscreen)
  • If you have multiple of the same gamepad connected, they may not work


FAQ



  • Can I use my existing Ara Fell save with AFEE? Nope! The game is so different that there isn't a way to carry saves over.
  • Will I lose my Ara Fell saves if I download the beta? Nope! Steam will replace your existing Ara Fell files with the AFEE ones, but it'll leave your save files in place. When you switch back over to the non-beta version, your saves will still be there.
  • This is lots of fun, how can I support the devs and the community? Just tell us if you're enjoying the game! The feedback really helps to motivate us.
  • I found a bug that broke the game - how soon will it be fixed? Usually within 24 hours. We release a new patch as-needed every day or two.
  • I read there was a new patch but my client didn't download anything? If a patch is released while Steam is running, you may need to restart Steam to tell it to immediately check for updates.

Rise of the Third Power kickstarter is now live!

Rise of the Third Power officially announced!

Hey everyone!

Stegosoft Games is excited to officially announce our next foray into the RPG world with Rise of the Third Power!



Fans of Ara Fell will feel right at home in this adventure set during the Age of Sail in the world of Rin, inspired by the political setting in Europe during the 1930s.



In this game, players have to employ tactics by swapping party members between 3 battle lines, with the friendly combatants active at any given time.



We'll also be including a robust leveling and crafting system, as well as an equipment system that relies on persistent upgrades rather than constantly swapping out equipment.

We expect Rise of the Third Power to clock in around 35 hours (about double Ara Fell's play time), while keeping the major gameplay elements intact.

Lastly, we'll be kickstarting this project on March 20th, so be on the lookout for that! Take a moment to wishlist this game on our store page and you'll be notified when it's released!
