Unfortunately we are still in pre-alpha as we still have some features we want to implement. With this update we have been concentrating on combat abilities and getting most skills up to 1000 point.We have added around 200 new abilities, some passive and others active in this update. Each skill weather its a combat skill like swordsmanship or a crafting skill like mining will have at least one combat/stat ability which will make every skill important. As we are still busy fixing up some skills/abilities we expect to be doing one more wipe in the near future when we add the final set of abilities. We also looked at a better view distance so players can engage more fluently in range combat as well as change camera view position as per requests from feedback. We will be doing another update soon which will bring in more quests and creatures as well as the final version of teh abilities for all other skills still missing abilities. We hope to see you in game enjoying Arcfall.
**Bugs Fixed:**
- Increased Frame rate and reduced frame rate drops when moving around in the world. Now you will only get a slight drop when new mobs spawn in the first time.
- Fixed the PvP-PvE button to display proper changing between the two.
- Fixed it so that character names wont show up above the minimap.

**Balancing:**
- Increased Archery attack distance from 15 max to 30 max so archers are more effective now before they get attacked.
- Increased view distance for better range combat.
New Archery Skill Tree
Our next post is covering the new Archery Skill Tree. With Archery we wanted to bring in a balance between movement effects and damage. Combining both the Slow Shot ability which slows a target down with the Swift Feet ability which increases your movement speed a archer will become a formidable opponent. With this there is two damage ability's. One called Bullseye does some major damage but has a short casting time so be sure you use it at the right time.
In all abilities where it states base damage, that's the starting amount of damage used in the combat calculation. From there it will determine the targets resist and also add some other stats including your skill level to determine the final amount of damage dealt to a target.
The next Skill we will be covering is Magery which will be the final skill for combat changes coming in the next major update.
New Swordsmanship Skill Tree
As we are slowly building up to our next major update we wanted to take some time and explain the new abilities and changes to combat that's coming. The first of these is the Swordsmanship Skill. As you all might know with Arcfall what you use determines what skill gains you will have. Using a sword for instance allows you to gain skill points in Swordsmanship. All parent combat skills will have 4 base combat abilities and 5 Secondary Skill abilities. When you gain in skill level it will unlock a new tier for that ability or if its a Secondary Skill ability, allow you to learn said skill.
With Swordsmanship you have both damage abilities as well as effect abilities like slowing a target down which is more useful in PvP than PvE. We aimed to balance both PvP and PvE play styles with abilities. Learning a secondary skill like Fire Stance for instance will add a new Skill tree to your Skill list opening up additional abilities listed under Fire stance, using those abilities will then in turn allow you to gain skill points in that skill tree making a players combat style very unique dependent on what abilities and skill trees he unlocks.
As you have a limited amount of total Skill points you will need to choose wisely what type of character you want to build. With this insight on how the new abilities will work we look forward to seeing you in game making unique builds to suit your play style. This system will be implemented in our transition update from pre-alpha to Alpha coming soon. In the following weeks we will be revealing the other combat Skill trees so stay tuned.
Release Pre-Alpha V1.2
This is just a small patch to test our fixes we implemented to try and fix the frame rate spikes you got when playing. We have reduced them to very small ones now and then and wanted to get this patch out to do further testing with it. We hope it improves game play and performance.
Release Pre-Alpha V1.1
As we continue working on the next big update we are planning we released a smaller update just to add a few new things into the mix. Unfortunately the new maps and more quests did not make it into this release but they are very close to be added in. We also wanted to say thank you to all the people who continue to support Arcfall.
**Bugs Fixed:**
- Marsh Trees can now be harvested in the swamp Biom.
- Swamp Crocodiles can now be attacked and killed for loot.
- Tab Targeting works again
**New:**
- New merchants added to Mudlock Swamp town.
- New head items like Miners Hat which added extra stats and light has been added as drops from mobs( Rock Elemental drops Miners Hat recipe - Rare drop)
- New Mana, Health and Strength potions added with different qualities.
**Balancing:**
- Changed made to Rock Elemental to drop better loot and coin.
- Changes made to the Forest Giant drops and coin drop.
Release Patch Pre-Alpha V1.0
This patch is more focused on balance than anything else where we have overall-ed the mob loot and also added more coin to help players get to owning a house faster.
**New:**
- New bioms/areas added
- New mobs added including dragons
- new town added
- New weapons and head armor added.
**Balancing:**
- Selling prices changed and increased on a wide range of items.
- All mobs should now drop coin with higher tier mobs dropping more coin so its easier now to make money.
- All loot is now more balanced with higher tier items dropping from higher tier mobs
Pach moving into Alpha
We where planning to release today's patch will all the new systems and map in place but am having some problems with doing such a big release at once. Thus we have decided to do a few small releases after each other over the next week . Today's one will have many of the things in place with updated graphics. We will also have a bunch of new abilities and skills. PvP is included and stealing. As we roll out the other patches in the next week it will bring us to our Alpha stage. We will not be doing any wipes after today's wipe unless a major problem happens which we do not foresee happening. Thank you for your patience and hope to see you in game. Today's update will be released in 2 hours from now.
Pre-Alpha to Alpha
As you know its been a few weeks since our last patch. We where planning to have a patch out today with PvP system in place but have decided to move it another two week. The reason for this change comes down to this. As we have been working hard we are very close to moving out of pre-alpha phase to Alpha. When we originally decided to do the PvP release we announced that it would require a full wipe as its a major system, but because we have been moving so fast we are able to move out of pre-alpha earlier than expected and will have all the major systems in place including taming, stealing, mounts to name a few and some of these others also requires a wipe so it will be pointless doing a full wipe today and then another in two weeks. Thus the change to move the release of the next patch to 25 August.
What you can expect in the 25 August patch release:
- PvP system: How the PvP system will work is its based on a players Karma Points. When you have less than -500 points you will be on auto PvP and wont be able to turn it of, above -500 points you have a option to turn PvP off or on. If you loot any players body you will automatically have PvP turned on. There is a 30 min cool down to turn PvP off if you are allowed to. Doing things like stealing, killing players or bad rep quests will reduce your karma. Doing things like helping players, killing certain mobs and good rep quests will increase your Karma.
- Taming and mounts system: You will have a taming skill which you can increase by capturing animals. A example is if you find a bear's den you can capture a bear cub and tame it on your land in a taming pen which will yield a bear mount.
- Animal Farming: there will be many farm animals available to raise on your farm. For instance if you find chicken eggs it will allow you to place down a hatchery and grow chickens from it.
- Factions: we are adding factions in which will allw you to gain reputation with certain factions opening up new trading among other stuff if you gain a high enough standing with them.
- Guilds: You will be able to form guilds.
- Castle plots and building. We are adding new castle plots as well a a full set of building units for castles. There will also be 15 different house styles to place down.
- Full world map: the first continent completely done which is 10 times the size of the current map area and includes a desert biom and a swamp biom.
- Swimming and ocean creatures: With the new map you will be able to go anywhere in the map including swimming in the ocean which will have its own resource nodes and sea creatures.
- New abilities added to all combat so that all will have a min of 10 abilities each. Insuring that the damage dealt by each ability for each skill will be balanced to make them all worth the while to use.
- Full new loot system with new drops for current mobs and new mobs.
- With the new map there will be around 30 new mob types add, most can be tamed and become mounts.
- 100 new recipes for crafting.
- Allot more items like armor and weapons.
- Fast traveling through portals across the world.
- Player owned vendors.
Our aim with pre-alpha was to get all the major features in place and also the final world map complete. As we said above we are very close to that so will be able to do the transition from pre-alpha to Alpha in the next patch. We hope you understand why we have decided to move it another 2 weeks as we don't see doing any other wipes after this one until we reach Beta or maybe not even then. Arcfall Patch Pre-Alpha v0.8
This is Pre-Alpha V0.8 . In this version we wanted to fix a bunch of bugs so content increase is very limited. We where planing to implement the first Bosses but unfortunately ran into a major bug with it just before we where going to do this update so they will be in next update in two weeks.
Bugs Fixed:
- Chat box scrolls to the bottom now when a new message is received.
- Tab targeting will now only target enemies, you use the click on portrait to select group members.
- All other places where rich text can be used is removed.
- When deleting a claim and you press cancel it wont still be delete the claim anymore.
- When you click the pickup button on a house it will as conformation now if you still want to pick it up.
- Placing a item in your claim and mousing over bag to select another item wont place the first item down but switch it.
- Certain Mobs use to run stop in animation when they run to you, that is fixed now so they run smoother.
- Item Requirements added to tooltips.
- Tax deeds will now add the correct amount of time when added to a plot.
- You will now only be allowed to add one tax deed at a time and have to wait till that deeds time has run out before you can add another one. The remaining time before the deed slot is open again will be half of the deeds time so you can slowly build up time on a plot and is displayed at the bottom of the deed.
- Items used that's in the action bar will display the right amount now and be removed when you don't have any more in your bag.
- You wont be able to equip a weapon anymore if it has no more durability.
- Durability will now also be displayed in tooltip in a number format.
- Weapon base damage amount will now be displayed in tooltip along with what type of damage it does.
New:
- Have a craft all button now to craft multiple items at a time instead of clicking craft every time.
Balancing:
- Changed pricing on Deeds and house blueprints.
Arcfall Patch Pre-Alpha v0.7
With this update we added our first new feature in, fishing. As its one of the harder things to add in and also because we had to add allot more items in to work with fishing this is one of our biggest updates so far.
Bugs Fixed:
- Chat box does not allow color changing text or size changing any more.
- Founders horses has a casting time now.
- After selling/deleting claim permissions will now be removed.
- Animation transition when running while picking up resource faster now and smooth.
- Cant send money or items through mail as what you are planning to trade at the same time.
- When deleting a claim permissions are deleted as well.
- Cant use abilities commands through chat window if you are not allowed to.
New:
- Stone Porch house added.
- Fishing system added
- New resource drops added: Bones, Poisonous Blood
- New Recipes added:6 furniture recipes, 1 weapon recipe, 8 crafting recipes, 3 cooking recipe.
- Iron and Bronze Elemental added
