The holiday sales have kicked off on Steam, and we have added Artifact Adventure to the festive activities!
The horribly toxic Swamp King has risen once again! Gather your party and set out on an open world, retro-styled, RPG adventure. Powerful mystical artifacts are scattered about the world, each able to grant you new powers. Which will you choose? What is your destiny?
By the way, they aren’t as individualized as artifacts, but the various weapons available domestically have their own individual characteristics as well.
I’ll tell you about them here.
First off are “Fine Blades”.
These include knives, rapiers, etc.
Some fine blades have short blades, which are good for combo attacks.
Each individual attack incurs low damage, but the number of rapid attacks possible is higher than other weapons.
If you’re gonna use a fine blade, then it’s imperative to use an artifact that’ll let you take full advantage of multiple attacks together with it.
Next up is “Long Blades”.
This includes longswords, flamberges, etc.
Long blades are really versatile.
Attack power, blade length, combo attack ability, all the bases are covered with these.
They’re so versatile that you can use them well with pretty much any artifact.
Next, “Heavy Blades”.
This includes weapons such as spears and halberds.
Their biggest characteristic is their attack range.
This also means that when backed into a corner, you’re kinda screwed.
This characteristic is both a blessing and a curse.
You’ll quickly realize that these have the widest attack range.
So you’ll need to think of ways to use them in which you won’t get backed into a corner.
For this, you’d do well to take advantage of artifacts that can disperse enemies, or those which can allow you to move quickly, those which provide auras, etc., and cover up your weak points.
Last is “Broadaxes”.
This includes axes and hatchets.
Broadaxes are good for single-attack power and for dealing death blows.
They have the highest attack power.
However, in order to use this power properly, unlike other weapons, they must be wielded vertically.
This means that the attack range isn’t so wide, but it’s good for knocking enemies out of the air.
For broadaxes, you only need to think about how to best utilize their attack power.
Combo attacks, death blows, the better you’re able to use them, the more power you’ll be able to wield.
Take these facts into consideration when choosing weapons, and think about how you want to do battle, what sort of artifacts you possess, and what they can do for you when choosing a weapon.
Let's move on to battle using artifacts.
Artifacts must be pre-equipped, and "Active Artifacts" can be activated using the "M", "," and "." keys.
Except for certain items, "Passive Artifacts" provide permanent effects.
No two artifacts are exactly alike, and it would be impossible to explain the effects of all of them.
So here we'll just explain about equippable artifacts.
First off is artifacts for attacking.
The hordes of fiends appearing in the dungeons are, to a certain extent, fixed.
As long as you don't touch a whirlpool, they're generally similar.
As for the fiends composing these hordes, if they're mostly on the ground, then select a ground-based artifact.
If they're mostly in the air, then select an air-based artifact.
If you find there are some fiends you don't like or which are hard to approach in the horde, then you can select wide-range attack artifacts, or artifacts that will allow you to attack a fiend from a distance.
Not only based on fiend hordes, if you personally prefer close-range combat, then select an artifact good for close-range combat, or an artifact that gives you an "aura".
Auras have elements of both active artifacts and passive artifacts.
With auras, on top of gaining skill boosts, making them active will make those
skills improve even further for a set amount of time.
These artifacts providing auras will prove useful in protecting yourself.
Activate auras at the right time to easily avoid danger.
There are also fiend-weaking artifacts, artifacts activated after fulfilling certain conditions, artifacts which summon a powerful force, artifacts which take full advantage of tools...
Yeah, there really are all sorts of artifacts in the game world.
Select them based on your enemies, or on yourself.
Which artifact you use is up to you.
Start off by finding the artifacts you like.
Use the A nd D keys to move left and right,
and head toward a fiend to attack with a weapon.
Use the Space key to jump.
It comes in useful when hitting an airborne fiend
and for evading attacks.
I'll let you in on one more fighting technique.
You need to face toward an enemy to attack them,
but by standing still and letting your weapon do the talking,
you can "parry" a fiend's attack.
However parrying is pretty much useless
against powerful or quick attacks.
It's tricky to get the hang of it,
but if you can become able to pull off a parry during a heated battle,
you can come out on top and avoid needless injuries.
Pay close attention to fiends' movements and status
and decide whether to attack, parry, or evade.
The power of decision during battle is your invisible backup.
Brush up on these skills and you'll be on equal footing with even the fiercest fiends.
The dungeons are lined with spider's nests, impeding progress and generally causing trouble.
Investigating them incites battle, and winning that battle will open the path forward, but you can’t simply battle through every single spider's nest, lest you, you know... die.
Therefore, there is a time-tested solution for those especially troublesome spider's nests: annihilating them with the awesomeness that is FIRE.
Press the “E” key to use kindling and do away with spider's nests.
This will enable you to avoid battle and maintain your safety
However, you’ll need to be especially vigilant around yet another threat: giant spider's nests.
Giant spider's nests create powerful fiends.
Not only will you be forced to engage in battle with fiends more powerful than those from normal spider's nests, you’ll also need to use two pieces of kindling in order to eliminate the web itself.
Decide whether to do away with spider's nests through battle or kindling consumption in accordance with your current physical condition and in consideration of what lies ahead, and you should be able to press on through your adventure.
Also, if you’re injured in battle, you can press the “Q” key to use a potion to heal your wounds and prepare yourself for battles to come.
# Threats in the Field
In the field, some dangers roam about in the open, while others are hidden in the shadows.
Come into direct contact with the fiends roaming the field and you’ll be forced into battle as they attack you.
If you’d prefer not to fight, you need to be extremely careful.
Next are the dangers hiding in the shadows.
Coming close to one of the sinister whirlpools in the field will cause them to manifest.
Inside these whirlpools lie large numbers of fiends, who will put up even more terrible a fight than those openly roaming the field.
Avoiding these altogether would obviously be the wisest choice, however, collecting the Abyss Shards which can be won upon defeating a whirlpool in battle will allow you to harness the power of the Abyss Shards and enter the Library in which the book detailing the genesis of this world lies in wait.
If you seek knowledge of the world and its origins, then by all means, try your hand against the whirlpools.
