Patch Notes August 7th
Hi Painters, Thank you for your continued feedback as we strive to make Arto the best game it can be!
What’s new? • The intro cutscene is now skippable • Added a slew of new camera angles to conversations with various NPCs • Synthwave posters have new flavor text • Nanga dragon quest has new objectives and is fixed • Saved data now displays the date when you last played
What’s fixed? • Camera will no longer zoom in and out when screen shake is disabled. This should hopefully make Arto more accessible • Ava music bug is fixed • Various map icons are more precise and map-related bugs are fixed • Weapons properly fade when Liv is behind objects • Elephume animations fixed • Synthwave oeuvre texture fixed • “Fulfilling a prophecy” missing objectives fixed
What’s changed? • The checkpoint menu no longer requires a second interaction with a canvas. We realized that some players miss out on upgrades altogether, or until they accidentally interact with a canvas. Hopefully, now buying upgrades will be more intuitive • Interact button can be used to skip conversations As always, we hope these fixes and changes make your Arto experience more enjoyable and we hope to hear more from you!
Patch notes May 11
Hi Painters,
Thank you for your continued support of Arto and your ongoing feedback. This patch is significantly larger than the last one and we hope your gameplay experience improves significantly!
What’s new?
• New map icons to make quest navigation easier • A new keybinding to access the map from the game, without having to go into the menu
What’s fixed?
• Overall performance improvements and optimization- Arto runs more smoothly across the board! • Anax’s final solution quest no longer displays the incorrect number of spray paint cans collected • The Bachis fight will now spawn an ouvre and the player won’t get trapped in the arena after defeating him • Bachis will no longer leave a laser attack indicator after being interrupted during the attack • Various audio fixes • Back to main menu will no longer cause sound to stop • Hime will no longer clip through the floor during a fight
What’s changed?
• BBK minigame redesign- you’ll find you’ll have better control of the pad, fixed a bug that could softlock the game by having the ball move perfectly vertically or horizontally, added vfx • Increased dialogue font size • Several environmental changes to make navigation easier and prevent Liv from getting caught up on the environment when running • Increased tutorial message and bark time • Getting on the first boat and activating it has been made more intuitive and easier • Changed the hitboxes of Kynis and the flies he spawns. Now all of them can be damaged with any weapon
As always, we hope these fixes and changes make your Arto experience more enjoyable and we hope to hear more from you!
Patch Notes May 4th
Hi Painters,
Thank you for playing Arto and giving us your feedback. We’ve definitely heard you and have some bigger changes and improvements coming up in the near future. In the meantime we addressed some common complaints:
What’s new?
• Added full controller support for interactables, including dialogue choices and menus. • Added a tutorial message about boss’ health bars, making players more aware of those hidden objects in boss arenas. • Added GOG achievements.
What’s changed?
• Modified the map tutorial message to let you know that you can zoom in and out on the map. • Fade out dialogue messages when entering menus to avoid obscuring them. • Added a buy button to the upgrades screen to make navigation easier. • Improved camera angles during conversations with side quest NPCs, making the conversations feel more dynamic and engaging.
What’s fixed?
• Fixed a common bug in which Liv would get stuck on something in the ground forcing you to dash, such as the gates in the Dark Realm, or the elevator entrance in Lichtenstone’s domain. • Fixed several walls in Outrun city that made it possible to clip out of bounds. • Fixed the BBK quest reward, which was previously disproportionately high compared to other quests. • Sfx and audio improvements to enhance the overall immersion and atmosphere of the game.
We hope these changes and fixes make your Arto experience more enjoyable! Let us know if you have any further feedback or suggestions.

Release Date & Publisher announcement
Welcome, artists!
We have lots of very exciting news!
First of all, we are proud to announce that Arto is now being published by Freedom Games. For those of you who may not know, a game publisher can take care of a lot of the business and marketing side of releasing a game. That includes managing our store pages, marketing and advertising the game, helping showcase the game at both digital and live events, PR, and a lot more. Really it lets us totally focus on working to make the game the best it can be, and provides us with the resources to do so.
You may also be concerned about horror stories of publishers ruining the vision of a game or forcing arbitrary restrictions on the dev team. For Freedom, that can’t be further from the reality we have experienced with them. Freedom has been a great partner to us, only enhancing and supporting our vision. We were very careful when considering whether to go with a publisher or not, and selected Freedom because they are committed to our vision of the game, and only want to see it reach its full potential as we see it. We maintain complete creative and development freedom, and Freedom (heh) wouldn’t have it any other way!
Our second piece of news is: Arto will be releasing on May 1st on Steam! 🥳
Thank you all for your support so far! We wouldn’t have made it this far without it. And if this is your first time finding us, welcome!
