Full Release Patch V 1.13.45


  • Added an option that allows players to adjust the amount of enemies in the game.

  • To access this option and reduce the number of enemies in the game, press escape while playing, click on options and change "Enemy Count" from "High" to "Low".

  • Official Server # 1 is now running with reduced enemies and compatibility for static lighting.

  • If you are hosting a sever and would like to reduce the number of enemies, you will need to connect to the server from the same IP address the server is hosted on.


Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback since Axion left Early Access! I am glad to have been made aware of changes that need to be made and to have been able to provide the patches to make these changes!

Full Release Patch V. 1.13.41

This patch adds the option to play the game with fully baked static lighting.

To enable this feature: In the launcher, click on "video-settings", then click on "lighting" and choose "static".

To get the highest frame rate possible on a low end PC, use the "lowest" video preset and choose static lighting. With this setup, a PC with a dual core APU and 4gb ram (below the minimum specs for the game) was running the game at an average of 30 fps.

In multiplayer games, the server also has to be set to static lighting.

Note: This variable is not saved and will need to be selected upon starting the game.

Thanks everyone for the great launch day! A lot of time was spent in game and I ended up putting together a patch to address the issues that were found. Thanks again to everyone who tried the game today! I will continue to play the game alongside the community and if turns out another patch is needed, I will be working on it.

Changelog:

Related to frame rates and stuttering:


  • Fixed: Stuttering was caused by loot and AI respawning as players entered an unoccupied area. AI now respawn every 5 minutes regardless of occupancy. Loot now respawns once per day / night cycle just after sunset. This allowed for the complete removal of the streaming volumes and therefore the associated stuttering.

  • Fixed: Since the change to relying on LODs and draw distance for terrain and buildings rather than level streaming, the maximum draw distance has a greater effect on frame rates (depending on your hardware). Changes were made to the graphics quality presets to reflect this.

Miscellaneous:

  • Fixed: On some machines, spamming of the volume control allowed the value to extend beyond it's functional range.

  • Fixed: Some grass not applied to the terrain correctly in the south west part of the map.

  • Changed: Textures for walls, flooring and ceilings in houses.

Out of Early Access!

Axion is officialy out of Early Access! Thanks to everyone who participated in EA! This was a vital part of the development process and helped to improve the game a great deal before the full release. There may still be some patches released in the future if some things slipped through the cracks, but the game is ready and the official servers are up and running! Thanks again everyone! Hope to see you in game!

Official Update # 13

Official Update # 13 is the result of serveral patches. Current version is 1.13.37.


    <*>Removed all level streaming associated with buildings and terrain. Terrain now uses LOD's exclusively and the distance at which buildings are visible is based on the maximum draw distance scale.

    As a result:

    <*>Server stability is fixed 100%.

    <*>Dedicated server no longer runs in the background for single player games as it is no longer necessary to do so.

    <*>All loot and all enemies respawn when there are no players around because the streaming volumes are now used exclusively for spawning loot and AI.

    Also fixed:

    Frostburg package retreival mission (from the mercenaries) could not be completed.
