Battle Dome

New Update: Demo, Jetpack, free M/KB link

I made a demo so people who don't own the game can try it. In the demo, you can only play on the map "Control". You can play with people who own the game.

In this update, I also included a new map called "Grand Control". It is a different, bigger version on the map "Control", which is how I originally intended it. In this map, you can pick up a jetpack. I wanted to see how a regular, non- antigravity map would play when there are jetpacks involved. Since this isn't an antigravity level like the other jetpack level, the jetpacks will only boost you up for a few seconds before it needs to be recharged.

The new jetpack is currently activated by pressing on the right trackpad, with a fuel gauge floating in front of your right gun.

Also, here is a link to the FREE M/KB version of Battle Dome. Give it to your lame non-VR friends. After the next update, they will have to download the new updated one, though.

New Update!

I was hoping to get a new level out with this update, but I didn't have time to finish it since I had to rewrite so much code for this update. Next week!

For this update: (i had a small update a few days ago as well, I'll list those changes here as well)

- Significantly increased bullet speed.

- Made it so you can play any game mode with most maps.

- Redid the map/game mode selection system. You now choose a map after you pick your game mode, and there are pictures and names for each map.

- The laser pistol now acts like a regular laser weapon, with a 5 round mag and a holographic sight.

- Fixed many bugs, did some level tweaks, and optimized weapon firing code.

Let me know if there are any bugs, I'll be on tonight testing.

New Update!

Hey, everyone. Sorry this update took a while, there have been a few technical difficulties along the way. Also, there were a few things I wanted to put in for this update, but I ran out of time and I want to get this out today.

- Duel wield one handed weapons!

- New gun: Semi-auto sniper rifle.

- New TDM map. This one is a little different. Instead of all weapons being available in spawn, they are dispersed around the map. I'd like to eventually open this (and all) maps up to be able to be played with any game mode. I'll add that in a future update.

- You can now play with mouse / keyboard. I made this because I've always wanted to play my game with my friends and family, none of whom have a VR headset. Maybe some of you feel the same way as me, and now you can play with your non-VR friends. Press the SPACE bar to activate M/KB mode.

- You can now pick up guns with any hand (the empty hand model still needs to be flipped for the right hand, sorry lefties). Use the application button on the left controller to pickup with that hand just as you would do with your right.

- I redid the physics/clipping system. The anti-clip system is now much smoother when you walk into a wall. A little more work needs to be done for trackpad, though. Also, there is now gravity and fall damage (instead of just teleporting down when you walk off a ledge).

- Trackpad movement can now be used in KotH 2 (Anti-grav map).

- Trackpad movement speed has increased.

- Bullet speed has increased.

- Instead of color maps being split by teleport distance limit, they are now all grouped together, and you can select whether you want limited/unlimited teleport distance as an option.

- Reload is now the grip buttons

- There is now a maximum distance when you want to select something (so you can no longer change your guns all the way across the map). Your selector beam will change from red to green when you are close enough).

- Fixed a few bugs, including the broken sword/spear bug.

New Update! Bots!

Today's update includes:

- Bots! They are very basic for now, but they get the job done. I'll keep upgrading them over time. As of now, they are in TDM and CTF 2 (jetpack map).

- TDM has been upped to 5 v 5.

- You now have a health bar on your wrist screen (left wrist). Killing an opponent now restores 10 health.

- Increased bullet speed a little for regular bullets (not plasma).

I didn't get to test the bots much since it is tough to get others to go on the beta branch to test with me when I need it (though some of you did, and I'm very thankful!), so there may be tons of bugs. Let me know if anything weird happens.

New Update! Plasma Weapons

Hi, everybody!

Today's update includes:

- Plasma weapons - A new class of weapons. They fire based on heat rather than ammo. Also, their bullets are slower moving, slightly less recoil, and more powerful than their regular bullet firing counterparts when hitting the body (headshot damage is still the same).

- New gun - Plasma Rifle

- New gun - Plasma SMG

- The Sonic Resonator now has a laser sight that will estimate the bullets trajectory. This is a little iffy at the moment because for some reason certain surfaces are bouncing the bullet kinda weird. I'll have to try to make this more consistent. Also, you can turn it off by clicking the trackpad.

- Regular bullets now fly much faster (about 60-70% faster depending on the bullet).

- Trackpad locomotion is now available in TDM.

- Trackpad locomotion has been tweaked to be faster.

- Tweaked TDM map and Jetpack map.

New Update!

Hellooooo everybody!

Today's update includes:

- Redid the recoil system! So many of you have complained, so i rewrote the recoil. It no longer keeps going up and up. The gun is now still fixed into the correct angle, and bullets will spread in an upwards cone the longer you fire your weapon.

- New Weapon - Sonic Resonator. This is an experimental gun, it might suck, it might not. You tell me. Basically, the bullets bounce off of walls, gaining power with each bounce (breaks on the 4th bounce).

- New Weapon - Laser Spear. While I was at Dev Days, I ran into a Battle Dome veteran /u/puzzabug. We were hanging out, and we ran into a few of the guys from Stress Level Zero (Hover Junkers). Puzzabug (i hope) jokingly suggested that they add spears to Hover Junkers. The idea cracked me up, and I figured, why not add it to BD and so we can do some jetpack jousting!

- Jetpack smoke trail and noise for the new jetpack map

- The jetpack map is now anti-grav, so you can teleport to any surface. Turn the roof into the floor. Go nuts.

- Bug fixes and tweaks.

New Update! Experimental mode

Hey, everybody!

So I've been working hard to get a beta version of this next map out before I head to Seattle for the week. This new map is CTF, but with a little twist. If you look on your left wrist, you now have the option to enable your jetpack! When you land by teleporting, or die, the jetpack will toggle back off again and you can walk around as per usual.

This map is very new, and there is still a lot that needs to be done with the jetpack and the level. I had to program the anti-clip to work with the jetpack, and it still needs a lot of tweaking, so try not to abuse any bugs until I can polish it up a bit.

Also, I didn't get a chance to add a jetpack sound, I'm really running out of time and I need to pack. I just wanted to get the beta version out so you can all try it and tell me what you think.

Also, I will probably increase the speed of the bullets. The large size of this map really accents the current slow bullet speed.

New Update!

Hey, everybody.

So I've been working non stop because I really want to get a few updates done before I go to Seattle for a week (Steam Dev Days). Since I've been trying to get these updates done so fast, there may be a few bugs, so let me know if you find any.

- New Heist level! Get the space cash and get out, though you will have to escape through a space bar to get back to your spawn.

This new level has ramps, which I had to program my trackpad loco to work with. Since I just programmed that today, it is still a little janky and will need to tweaks.

Also, the level will probably need some tweaks and optimizing as well.

Hopefully I'll be able to push out one more update (which should be an interesting one) before I leave for Seattle on Sunday.

New Update!

Hey, everybody.

Sorry that this update is a little later than I told you. While I was doing it, I decided to rewrite a lot of my code. Battle Dome is my first game in Unity, and the way I wrote a lot of the code was really dumb and did not scale well, so I finally decided to just rewrite it rather than add to the mess.

So this update is for the people who loved the old maps and the unlimited teleport distance. I re-added the old maps (called "retro"). When you play these old maps, you have unlimited teleport distance.

These maps include:

- DtC map 1
- DtC map 2
- KotH map 1

Also, the regular DtC map 2 has been shortened to work better with the teleport limit.

There may be some bugs since I rewrote so much code, so let me know.

New small update

Hey, everybody.

I've spent all week doing daily bug fixes and tweaks for the new mode, as well as hunting for one very stubborn bug (I finally found and fixed it). Since all of my update have been pretty boring this week, I wanted to make sure you got something interesting at least. So I put it a new gun. Its a burst fire assault rifle, with a silencer and reflex sight.

Have fun! Hopefully I'll have something more substantial for you next week.
