Hi all, sorry this last update is taking so long to deliver, there has been a delay in getting the final music and sfx for some of the weapons. We hope to have these delivered soon! This last update is a big one which I hope addresses the feedback you have given so far.

Bears Can’t Drift!? 2.95: Audio update, GDC and EGX Rezzed

This is going to be (fingers crossed) the last update before the final release of Bears Can’t Drift!? There is still a little bit of work to go but I’m confident I can get all the work done before the end of spring.

Bears Can’t Drift!? is getting really close to being finished! Only a few sfx/music tracks and a bit more polish left! I have a nice long list of fixes and improvements for you to test out. Let me know what you think in the forums :D

BCD!?: 2.8, 32bit build and Hub UI!

32Bit version added


There is now a 32bit version of the game. The minimum requirements will stay at 64bit and the game will load 64bit by default. I recommend using caution when buying this game for a 32bit machine and make sure you are happy with frame rate etc.. before passing the returns policy deadline :) The game does require a moderately high spec machine to run so always check the recommended specs on the product page before buying.

Special Thanks mini game


I wanted to make something more interesting and fun than the usual list of names at the end of the game. While this has been a solo project for the vast majority of developement, many people offered critique, advise and help bringing it together. The 'Special Thanks' mini game is completable but is missing a UI element which is coming in the next update. Good luck finding it and thanks to everyone in the game.

BCD!?: 2.5 New maps and more!

All maps released


You can now play all 12 maps in Bears Can't Drift!? Major work still needs to be done to the tracks. The ruin hub (red zone) tracks are all made to blockout stage at the moment so the next few updates will be to improve visual fidelity to match the forest (green zone) tracks. You should notice yellow hammers at the entrance to some portals to let you know which tracks are still under construction. 4 tracks have been added to the ruins hub (Red zone)and 1 track added to Arctic hub (Blue zone).

Paws menu Graphics options


Paws menu has new artwork added (animations still to come). The add player icons now represent the difficulty mode to let you know which diff mode you are in. Difficulty modes should be added in the next update, at the moment its still locked to Medium. You can now access the graphics control panel by pressing LB(L1) or RB(R1) in the Paws menu. It is currently locked to mouse input only, you can control all the effects that were in the previous build. Fullscreen, Vsync, quality and resolution, art assets are still being developed for this.

Achievements


3 achievements are currently obtainable, Activate Easy, Medium and Hard. More achievements will be added and implemented in the coming weeks, post any suggestions for achievemnts on the forums.
Achievements

Hats


Cosmetic hats have been added to Bears Can't Drift!? Lock icons can be found throughout the hub worlds which will turn into hats when you unlock them. Hats are hidden throughout the 12 tracks and game modes. In order to unlock them you must find the hat and come in first place. Currently you can unlock two hats, more will be added over the next few weeks!


New playable character


Robobear is a new playable character that can be unlocked. Like with previous new characters, press select while in the hub world and move left and right to change character.

Adding Achievements

Hi all,

I am going to be adding achievments to the game over the next couple of days! you won't be able to unlock them yet but you should be able to check them out in the achievements section :) The next update is going to be a big one and I can't wait for you to all play it :)

BCD!?: 2.4 Minor updates

Hey everyone! got some small updates and changes for you. It mainly effects the hub world. Let me know what you think :)

BCD!?: 2.3 Weapon changes, new arctic track and character!

Removing some weapon combinations.


I have done a lot of experimenting with the weapon combo system and have come to the conclusion that it is too complicated. After getting a lot of feedback I found people really struggled to remember all of the different combinations. Because of this I am lowering the weapon combinations to same item only (from 14 total to 8 total). If you pick up two of the same item, it changes to a super power item. After play testing this I found people picked up the game much more easily, were able to be more tactical and remember the combinations. I hate removing content, but I genuinely feel that it makes the game better, if you have any feedback on this please let me know in the forum. I will change the description page to match the changes made.

Improvements have been made to the second tier weapons so they all work as intended. Some more work is still to come for the visual side. Animations for the mushroom drop and chicken attack still need work as well as more particle effects and SFX for all weapons.

New Player Character


I have added the polar bear to the roster of playable characters! You can change your character any time in the hub world by pressing select on your gamepad and then moving left/right with the analogue stick to switch between characters!

New Arctic Track


A new arctic track has been added to the game! Check it out in the arctic hub world.

Second tier drift


If you hold the drift for long enough you now get a second tier hit of speed. You get much more speed but a lot less control.

Minor Changes



  • Added clover to forest world
  • Foliage interaction in the forest world
  • Mushroom drop throws you into the air
  • Some bears have crowns in the hub world when they shouldn’t
