Mercenary Wingmen now available - v0.5.1
Greetings, Spacefarers!
Today we're releasing a new update for Between the Stars!
These are the main features you'll find:
New Mercenary Captains
Now you can hire mercenary captains at Republic space stations. Equip the ideal weapons and systems for their ships and their bonuses, and assign them on your ship so they follow you as a wingman.
New Secondary Storylines
This new update adds nine new secondary contracts and events. In these new stories you will be able to explore a haunted ship, get revenge on the Silveheads gang or even hunt down Sado Salik.
Abilities on Enemy Ships
Now NPC’s can use the same abilities as the player. Prepare to receive impacts from nukes, go through minefields and defeat enemies with more defensive capabilities available to them.
Backup System
We are detecting cases in which the save game becomes corrupted due to lockups, lack of memory or external programs like antivirus. In order to avoid losing data we have implemented a new system that will automatically restore the save file if it detects that it is corrupt. We will continue to work to avoid these types of errors.
You can take a look at the complete change log below:
Change Log Version 0.5.1
A new subordinate system is active. You can now hire captains and equip their ships to fight alongside you.
The reward for prisoners has been increased to 600 credits.
Enemies can now use skills.
Two quantum cores are given for each scrapped weapon now.
There is now a small chance that quantum cores will appear when looting ships.
You can now hold tab and press numbers to activate and deactivate groups of weapons without going through the weapon wheel.
A backup system has been added to the save system to avoid game corruption. If a save file becomes corrupted or lost, starting the game again will use the backup to restore the game.
The space of items in the inventory has been increased.
Fixed a bug in event #196 that prevented a crew member from being lost.
Fixed the trigger condition of a Zane event (# 364) that caused it to appear before it was met.
We've fixed a softlock in the mission Round of Questions (# 241).
A bug has been fixed that made it impossible to scroll with the mouse wheel when the cursor was over an item.
Many spelling errors have been fixed, many of them related to the gender of the characters.
v0.5.0.3
We've added an option to adjust the engine brightness.
Now the tooltips indicate if an item is researchable.
We've fixed a major bug that caused enemy ships to not warp in when the weapon wheel was opened in the moment of the warp.
We fixed a softlock in the mission "Finish them all" (#283) that happened when the player destroyed all the ships before they warped out.
A bug in the event (#161) that caused it to be triggered after playing the mission Enemies at the Gates (#160).
Our input system solution has been updated to the latest version.
Isolated Games Grows
Hello everyone,
We would like to announce that, starting today, Isolated Games will also be in charge of developing Travellers Rest, currently available on Early Access on Steam, Gog and Humble. For months we have been in contact with the development team behind Travellers Rest and, for private reasons, Louquo has decided to retire from the game’s production and grant us complete control of the project.
Although we know this has not been an easy decision, we can guarantee that the game has been left in good hands. Isolated Games will be in charge of finishing the project, incorporating a wealth of new content and functions that the community has been asking for.
Although we are a small studio, and while we are very much looking forward to continuing the project that is Travellers Rest, we will continue working on Between the Star’s workflow in exactly the same manner. In order to do that, we have doubled our staff, maintaining two teams to work in parallel so that Between the Stars won’t be affected in the least.
As a special thanks to all our players, we’d like to offer a discount for Travellers Rest to anyone who has acquired Between the Stars. Thank you so much for your support!
We fixed a soft lock in the mission "Finish them all" (#284) that happened after loading a saved game.
We added a function to stop all engines. To use it press mouse wheel or backspace.
We fixed a few missing translations in the game configuration menu.
Some translations have been fixed.
v0.5.0.1
We fixed a soft lock in the mission "Finish them all" (#283).
We fixed a soft lock in the mission "Sol Invictus" (#299).

Chapter V Public Beta Update
Greetings, Spacefarers!
We bring you great news! Chapter V is now available on the beta branch, and we plan to release it on the default branch in around two weeks!
What's new?
Chapter V continues the main storyline and adds:
More than 30 new main missions.
Two new ships.
New wingmen.
More than 900 new voice clips.
As many of you know we planned to have had Chapter V be the end of the main storyline, but finally we have decided to extend the story a little more so that it won't be finished until the next update of the main story missions, which will possibly coincide with the launch of version 1.0.
How can I play the beta?
First of all keep in mind that the beta version could have bugs and errors and it could damage your saved game, so first of all make a backup of your save data. To do so, go to C:/Users/YOUR USER/AppData/LocalLow/Isolated Games/Between the Stars and save the file SaveFile.es3 to have a backup.
In order to join the Beta, all you have to do is right click on Between the Stars in your library. Click Properties, Betas and opt into the beta we have there, it’s that simple!
Send us your bug reports
Please, remember to use the bug report system in-game by hitting the B key. It will give us a lot of information in order to fix any issue you find!
