Blaston: Free-To-Play Patch is now live!

Hello everyone! Today we have released a patch for Blaston to address some issues introduced in version 2.0 of the game.

These mainly focus on critical issues found where players were unable to see their equipped avatar skins in the Ozo Lounge as well as text not being displayed properly for players playing Blaston in Italian & Traditional Chinese.

In version 2.0 we had hoped to add more localization options for players, but unfortunately we ran into issues when adding Italian and Traditional Chinese to the game. For the time being these options will become unavailable, and we hope to be able to add them into the game in a future update.

Bug Fixes

  • Avatar skins are now properly displayed when entering the Ozo Lounge.
  • Updated and fixed several text errors in weapon and attachment descriptions.
  • Disabled broken unsupported languages: Italian & Traditional Chinese.

For players on standalone Quest 1, unfortunately it seems like the game is having trouble running the game with all the new content added in. We’re currently investigating this issue to see what we can do to solve the problem.

If you’re running the game on Quest 1, we recommend you restart the headset, and avoid entering the Ozo Lounge for now. You should still be able to play duels normally while we investigate this further. For Quest 1 players on Steam, you should still be able to play the game as per usual.

The Blaston: Free To Play Update is now LIVE!

Blaston is now a Free-To-Play game! Welcome to the Free-To-Play Update, we have a lot of things that we included in the game which brings the version number to 2.0! We hope you’re as excited as we are about what’s ahead for the game. Read the highlights below, or check out the patch notes list further down for a quicker overview.

Blaston is now Free-To-Play!

On Steam and Meta Quest, Blaston is now a free to play title. This means that you no longer need to purchase the game to get in on the action. Let your friends know and start playing today!

Golden Gratitude Reward

We’re incredibly thankful for everyone that has supported Blaston so far, it’s you who have allowed us to get to this point and have kept the game alive. As a thank you for believing in us, and purchasing the game before it went free to play - you will all recieve the Golden Gratitude Reward. This includes the Golden Gratitude skin for Clamos & the Viper Ellipse, as well as a x1 Wall of Blasts (1160 Blasts) for free! Explore the new store and pick out something special with your new chunk of change. This skin pack will first be available for our veteran supporters, and will be available at a later point in the store for everyone else.

Blaston is coming to Pico!

Blaston is not only going free to play on Steam and Meta Quest, as the game will be available on Pico 3 & 4 devices starting early 2023. We’re currently finishing up the final pieces, but soon you’ll all be able to join the action from 3 VR platforms!

New Legendary Skin Set: Dynasty

The Dynasty Bots guard VIPs within the Premium version of the Paracosm. Made for high impact and high performance to take any and all threats down. You can now find the Dynasty skin for both the Octo Agent, and the Wildcat.

New Legendary Podium: Bliss

Show your true allegiance to the game with this newly animated podium which sports the “NEVER. STAY. STILL.” slogan!

New Avatar & Weapon Skins:

Aside from the legendary skins, we have a ton of skins for both avatars and weapons. You’ll be able to find them in the newly remodeled store in the main menu. Enjoy!

New Attachments: Majestic, Supermajestic, Majestic Nade, Avalanche Nade, Swarm, Tundra, Nova Nade, Lance Rapide

We’ve added 3 attachments each for 8 more weapons in this update including all of the enercage weapons, but also the special weapons Swarm & Tundra as well as the Nova Nade and Lance Rapide. We’re hoping to bring back enercages into the mix and reintroduce the area denial tools for you to use.

New Movement System:

We’ve completely reworked the movement system (Inverse Kinematics) for the avatars in the game to be more realistic and follow your natural body movements. For advanced users of Blaston this means that you’ll now have to move as you would in real life to dodge and avoid incoming projectiles. Our main reasonings for this huge change is to continue to promote movement in the game, lessen any confusion as to why you got hit and also avoid having players doing unnatural movements that could lead to injuries. This will take some time for veteran players to get used to, but we hope you look forward to using the new system.

New Features in the Blaston Spectator:

The free to use Blaston Spectator has now been updated to 2.0 with a few new additions to optimize use for continued tournament use. We’ve tweaked the in-game UI, added localization to the client, a camera speed option along with a freecam mode. To fully capture some cinematic shots you can now also toggle the UI in-game with the “U” button.
