Today we're bringing you a small hotfix with a bunch of new sounds, some bug fixes and more! There were still quite a few old sounds from back in the good ol' days. Update 1.6.5.5: Tiki sets, new level based unlocks, conquest improvements & more
Hi there me lads!
We've been very busy lately with some long term stuff which is why it's been a bit quiet last few weeks. But we've also been working on a new update which we're releasing today!
Today's update includes a complete new Tiki inspired set, ancient crowns, new ancient tattoos, new facial hair types, new earrings and more!
We've also added some awesome new level based unlockables on the progression timeline, like a grim reaper bow figure, a monocle, a dagger in the mouth and more!
So far we've added 5 unlockable cosmetics to the first few levels and 1 towards the end of the progression timeline. This is only the first of many to come though, as we will add more and more with each new update! Upcoming items include unique peg legs, hats, hooks, face items and more!
Aside from new cosmetics we've also reworked conquest a bit by reducing the amount of active flags from 3 to 1 to create a bit more conflict and shift the focus more on combat instead of running around the map capturing flags. We're still very much tweaking the conquest gamemode so keep in mind that changes like these are still experimental. We've also fixed some exploits and improved ship respawning so it's no longer possible to spawnkill new ships. Aside from that the ticket depletion is now also based on server player amount and crew size.
We've also vastly improved the tutorial with many more visual cues, cleaner tooltips, new animations and more in-between steps to make the tutorial experience as easy to follow as possible.
And that's not all! We've now also enabled the Steam Community items! Trading cards, badges, backgrounds and emoticons can now be collected!
Patch Notes:
Conquest improvements:
Now only one flag is active at once instead of 3 which depletes 3 times as fast
Destroyed ships now respawn on spawn point furthest away from other ships
Ticket depletion of ships now based on players on ship's crew
Kill ticket depletion now based on amount of players on the server
Conquest pre-game timer reduced to 60s
Gameplay improvements:
Players are now kicked out of cannons, swivel cannons, steering wheel, sails and other "vehicles" when the ship is destroyed
Sharpness filter:
Added a sharpness filter slider to the video options menu
Tutorial improvements:
Added more visual cues and made the tutorial much easier to follow
Reworked pop up animation and visuals
Added some extra in between steps to improve overall experience
Progression additions:
6 level based unlocks added to timeline (more will follow in coming updates): - level 3: dagger in mouth - level 9: double braided beard - level 15: wheat straw in mouth - level 21: coconut bra - level 27: golden monocle - level 171: grim reaper bow figure
Bug fixes:
Fixed incorrect resource amount after respawning in conquest
Fixed some bugs with the tutorial level
Fixed a bug that caused brightness not to apply correctly

Update 1.6.4.4: Storm Setting, More Conquest Maps and news about Full Launch
Ahoy Mateys!
Time for another update! But before that we’ve got something to talk about...
Many of you might have already gotten your hard earned pirate gold ready to buy Blazing Sails for yourself or a friend upon full release later this month. In the meantime we’ve been hard at work fixing the last bugs and improving the game even more to get it all set up. However, reflecting on the game as a team, we realised we don't think we're done with Early Access. The reason we released in EA from the very beginning has been to receive player feedback and get Blazing Sails to a place we're uniformly proud of - and we don't think we're there yet.
That being said, we don’t want to leave you pirates in the dark. Therefore we’ve decided to already release the Storm Setting and Extra Conquest Maps in this free update!
We’d also like to take this opportunity to ask for a bit of feedback from you all! What do you think about the current state of the game? What can we add for a successful full launch? And why? We’d love to find out what you think of all this. Therefore we have created this handy form
Thanks in advance for the valuable feedback pirates! On a sidenote, we're working on some major plans we'll be able to reveal soon™! Hope you’re excited.
First of all: A recent fix to the game incorrectly flagged part of our game as containing malicious content on some systems. We removed the tool causing this issue and were able to add the fix without it. None of your personal files or system were in danger. Our sincere apologies for any problems this might have caused.
We've also heard your feedback about our recently added progression system! Therefore we have now also added a generous amount of points based on your actual playtime. This way we want to increase the leveling speed for both experienced and new players. Even more additions coming very soon!
In the meantime we're also hard at work making more additions and improvements tot the Conquest Mode! We've decided to temporarily disable the mode for now while we fix some issues and add new additions.
Patch notes:
Gameplay improvements:
Can no longer farm XP when sails are fully damaged
Can no longer reload while climbing ladder
Improved player / ship collision which should make it much harder to penetrate the hull
Can no longer interact with objects inside of the ship hull while swimming
Can no longer repair damage from atop the deck
End game ghost ship should no longer spawn inside cliffs or islands anymore
Party UI additions:
Party member info box now shows party member's level in main menu parties
Progression improvements:
You now get 17 XP (score) every 10 seconds while playing (only during match, not pre-game)
Visual improvements:
Underwater effects now include blue colorisation
Bug fixes:
Fixed "Leave party" and "Kick" buttons being swapped in party UI
