Chapter 5 Announcement

Welcome back to another update on Boat Warfare's development!

I've already announced Chapter 5 on my twitter and wanted to spread the news here too! (if you want the latest in development updates follow me over there)

We've reached the culmination of the story, and I can't wait for you all to experience it! I am hoping with the current trajectory that Chapter 5 should be out around July/August (will have a more definitive date as we near release). There will be plenty of new challenges to tackle in chapter 5 as you traverse through new locations and fight new enemies. You can look forward to experiencing what lies in wait on the moon!

Update 0.28.3 (Post Chapter 4 Fixes Update)

Back again for another bug fix update! But we aren't just fixing bugs this time, I'm happy to introduce checkpoints and health drops from enemies as well! I heard some feedback that having to replay the whole level every time you die is a bit harsh so hopefully this change should make things Just a little less Crazy! You will also see the occasional health drop from enemies which heal you 10%, this should help you feel less forced to fight from a distance and take the fight right to the enemies! You may have also seen the achievements but weren't sure how to get them, they have finally been added and will be retroactively unlocked if you have completed the requirements!

Now on to the change list!

New stuff:
- Optimized enemy script to significantly improve performance
- Optimizations in player controller
- added functionality to retroactively unlock chapters you have beaten on other devices (sadly your collectables and best times will not be carried over)
- added health pickups that can occasionally drop from enemies
- added steam achievement support (some will be retroactively unlocked on sign in)
- added checkpoints to almost all levels for all chapters
- added missile boat to Arcade mode

Fixes:
- fixed issue where incorrect time was being displayed for chapter 4s speed run time
- fixed some issues with particle systems on a couple enemies
- fixed issue where last level of chapter 4 wasn't being unlocked after completion
- fixed some geometry in Ch3 Lvl1
- fixed game crash in Ch3 Lvl2 and lvl5
- fixed issue where songs were not correctly stopping
- fixed an issue on Ch3 lvl1 where the second rescue boat was getting stuck at the start of its path
- fixed issues in arcade mode preventing playing
- fixed several null reference pointer issues
- fixed an issue where missiles were not correctly locking onto targets
- fixed an issue where protect waypoints stayed active in ch3 lvl1
- fixed music being too quiet in ch3 lvl2 & 3
- added correct destroyed object to pilot and radio guys boat in Ch4 Lvl2
- removed a couple turrets near the first base in ch4 lvl4
- changes to fix floating geometry and pathing in the arcade map 2
- combined start logos for faster start time
- changed all boats customizations to share the same hit box as the standard boat

Boat Warfare Chapter 4 Released!

Chapter 4 Is finally here! The story continues and issues are addressed, let hop into the patch notes!

New Stuff:
- added new chapter to the story including:
- 5 new levels
- new enemies
- new cutscenes
- new boss battles
- and more!
- implemented speedrun mode for Chapter 4
- added 5 new collectables to find

Fixes:
- fixed UI issue not correctly displaying missile charge percentage
- fixed a few scripts that were having edge case errors
- fixed boat trail not being constant
- fixed some miscellaneous script edge case errors
- fixed issue where getting hit by a missile would instantly kill the player
- fixed missing hitbox on drone
- fixed missing hit box to allied helis
- optimized enemies to be more performant
- optimized player controller
- optimized several other particle effects
- optimized waypoints
- reworked bullet casings to be more performant
- backend changes to the music system to prevent issues with songs not playing

Additional Changes:
- updated weak vent model
- added script to randomize the text on shipping containers
- improved AI collision detection
- changed name of chapter 3 boat in customization
- reduced the drones health
- changed UI for objectives that only had 1 target

Update on Chapter 4

Hey everyone!

Last update I mentioned that Chapter 4 would be releasing in June or July, however life has been busy, so development has ended up being slowed. I want Chapter 4 to be released in the best state, so I am moving the release date to sometime in September. As we get closer to release, I will give a definitive date, but I can confirm that the chapter is already playable all the way through, and I am mainly working on polishing and making things more balanced!

Chapter 4 Announcement

I don't want to give away too much at the moment, but I will share a bit about what you should expect and when you'll get it. To start off my current plan is to release Chapter 4 around June/July (I will have a more definitive date as we get closer to release). Additionally with the additions of the railgun in Chapter 2 and the Missile launcher in Chapter 3, the boats arsenal is pretty full so there won't be any new weapon additions this time. HOWEVER, there are some exciting twists that you'll get to experience throughout the chapter which will definitely make up for that!

Update 0.26.6 (Post Chapter 3 Fixes Update Again)

Back again with a few more fixes this should round out the outstanding issues that were present, so the bugs are no more!! Additionally, keep an eye out for Saturday, might have something interesting to see!

- fixed hitbox on bridge in Ch1 lvl1
- fixed a few issues in Ch3 lvl2
- fixed issue where chapter 1 levels were still locked even if chapter 2 was complete

- made some adjustments to the broken wall prefab
- added retroactive unlocks for chapters to fix issue previously that didn't unlock chapter 3
- increased the health of the civilian rescue boat
- increased the hitbox size of the hit points on the small melters in chapter 2

Update 0.26.4 (Post Chapter 3 Fixes Update)

Nothings perfect right? There were various things that needed to be addressed following the prior update. The following changes fix a bunch of issues that were caused from that update and some issues that came up during testing. See below for the changes!

- added info text to Ch3 level 1 to inform play how to use new weapon
- added some foliage to Ch1 lvl 4
- added some geometry to ch1 lvl 1
- added some geometry to Ch2 lvl 3
- added missing collision to dock in ch2 lvl 3

- fixed an issue causing waypoints to not be on their target
- fixed issues causing waypoints to not correctly display in Chapters 1 & 2
- fixed new mechanic info text to be removed by correct button/key press
- fixed issue with player cam not being removed on death
- fixed some enemy pathing in Chapter 2
- fixed issue where Ch2 lvl 3 could not be completed
- fixed issue where you could not see the ch3 boat in customization screen
- fixed issue where player could shoot their own missile as it launches
- fixed various script errors that were coming up on edge cases
- fixed some issues where audio would not play, or incorrect audio was playing
- fixed music not starting sometimes for level 1 & 2 in Chapter 1

- removed the wake from the wood raft
- removed unnecessary waypoint on Ch2 lvl 1
- increased the speed of the rescue boats in Chapter 3
- optimized some particles in Chapter 1
- adjusted the death object rotation amounts on several objects

Boat Warfare Chapter 3 Released!

It's here at last! Chapter 3 brings the long-awaited continuation of the story and many more improvements. Before we jump into the patch notes I just want to thank you all for checking out and continuing to play my game it means the world to me!

New stuff:
- added new chapter to the story including:
- 5 new levels

- implemented speedrun mode for Chapter 3
- new cosmetics to find

Fixes:
- fixed arena map 3's display picture to match level
- fixed missing geometry in Chapter 1 Level 1
- fixed an issue causing mines/missiles to explode due to triggers
- fixed an issue causing boss cruiser to not rotate on death correctly
- fixed hit boxes on enemy jets and helicopters
- fixed camera moving when game was paused
- fixed LOD issues causing objects to pop in at strange distances
- reduced light reflection amount on water of shield in Ch 1: Lvl 1
- corrected the name of one of the enemies

Additional Changes:
- added missing texture to glass textures
- added a decal to a wall destroyable to make it more visible
- new visuals for the railgun bullet trail
- updated some old objects to use new models
- updated models on allied cruiser to match Chapter 3
- improved enemy detection for non-player allies
- changed player and other small boat splash trails
- changed transparency of patrol boat boss to match other trails
- reduced helicopter health slightly
- optimized many scripts to improve performance
- optimized the trees for better performance
- optimized many particles
- adjusted the camera height for better visibility
- adjusted the camera collision to be less intense
- adjusted the size of the hitbox on the drone
- increased the size of several enemy hitboxes
- increased the size of the bullet trails for cannons to differentiate from regular turrets
- slightly increased the size of the missiles hitbox to make them easier to hit
- changed the textures for the ally helicopter to better differentiate them

Known issues:
- unable to view Ch3 boat in customization screen
- Ch1 & 2 have some waypoint and audio issues

Phew that was a lot! With all the changes coming with Chapter 3 the update might even rival the Everything has changed update! There are a few issues I'm working out and should have an update for soon! (probably within the next couple days, turns out even I can't avoid day 1 patches). I'm glad you're all sticking with me, here's to more Boat Warfare this year!

Chapter 3 release date and trailer

It's been a long time coming but the wait is almost over for Chapter 3!

On January 15th the update will be released and even better FOR FREE!!!
