Bombshell

Kyrron

Home and birthplace of the Kyrr and its various factions, Kyrron was a once-bountiful world packed with resources and life, not unlike Earth. That was until the Great Catastrophe knocked the planet into the orbit of a dying sun.

Often referred to as “the scorching from the stars,” the event warped the Kyrr’s flourishing homeworld into a place of unimaginable chaos and hostility.

The Kyrr turned to augmentation to survive and grew to believe that the universe seeks their demise. In response to this perceived threat, they developed portal technology and used it to pillage neighboring worlds to restore their dying planet - and to take back what was taken from them: resources.

Masticon Scout

A precursor to Heskel’s modification of the Kyrr, the Masticon Scout is a staple of his mercenary attack force. Their non-specialized nature makes them the perfect reconnaissance unit as they scout a hostile environment and easily replaced if lost.

Agile and quick, the Masticon Scout is equipped with a standard plasma cannon - the perfect weapon for mass deployment. Combined with light armor, they can be deployed en masse with few resources, making them well-suited for an overpowering first-wave assault.

Bowling Bombs

The Bowling Bombs is Shelly's explosive of choice. Naturally it can be augmented to suit your particular play style.

H.D.A. - Self-directing bomblets with an alpha-wave detector system.
Hivebomb - Bomblets with multiple delayed-fuze systems.
Pin-Bomb - Allows the primary Bowling Bomb to spawn an additional Bowling Bomb on detonation, and again on the following detonation.

Bombshell Reactions

Bombshell Press and Fan Reactions

Welcome to the Bombshell Steam community hub. During 2015 3D Realms and Interceptor have attended several shows such as PAX East, PAX Prime, Quakecon, GDC and E3 showing off Bombshell for the very first time.

Bombshell is the first new 3D Realms IP in almost a decade, and Interceptor Entertainment's second game (Rise of the Triad was their first release).

Below you'll find quotes from previews, covering Bombshell:

Playstation Life

"... consistent, detailed, and driven... Bombshell has both a promise of story and a promise of interaction that could come together into something with a real violent thrust, not unlike the lean, aggressive beauty of Mad Max: Fury Road"

"It’s a frantic back-and-forth in the PAX Prime demo, but its chaotic style is consistent, detailed, and driven."

"With a good enemy variety, weapon choices, weapon upgrades, and maybe some higher difficulty levels, Bombshell could stick with anyone looking for fast-paced challenges that feel malleable and skill-dependent."

PC Gamer

"... I came away with the sense that there’s potential in Bombshell. I like the idea of a sci-fi Diablo, and as an isometric shooter, Bombshell is fast, challenging, and seems to have plenty of options to fit different play styles. I also appreciate that 3D Realms eschews Bomshell’s roots and Shelly Harrison stands as a character on her own rather than entirely being a repurposed Duke Nukem."

Lazy Game Reviews

"It was satisfying as crap to shoot aliens in a 3D Realms game again."

The B-Team

"Put it all together and this is one hell of an old school isometric shooter."

"I continue to be impressed with how 3D Realms has mixed the old with the new as of late, clearly demonstrating that it not only doesn’t want to hide from the publisher’s strong past but rather embrace and bring it back in vogue."

"After all, this is the team responsible for the impressive 2013 Rise of the Triad, which was a remake of sorts that improved on a classic so much I went from despising the franchise to a fan. With that pedigree on board there’s no reason to believe that developer Interceptor and 3D Realms may be onto something with this new franchise."

Nvidia

"If you like isometric shooters, twin-stick shooters, or over the top action, you'll probably be down for Bombshell, an upcoming action game that combines all three for a riotous time. On PC, Bombshell's receiving some special TLC in the form of NVIDIA GameWorks effects, which will further enhance the spectacle of Interceptor Entertainment's shooter."

Geek Tryant

"Bombshell ups the ante of awesomeness with its presentation of Shelly, our aforementioned protagonist. While a female main character is no longer unique in gaming, it’s still rare enough to get a mention. Harrison even takes a step further from many of the offerings featuring female main characters. She’s the focus of the game without doubling as a mechanism for fan service delivery or being defeminized. She gets to be feminine and badass at the same time, taking a break from the weakening trope that female characters in games can only be an obstacle or sex object."

Hardcore Gamer

"Bombshell is a Return to Classic 3D Realms"

"3D Realms has made great use of the Unreal 3 engine in creating the look and feel of the game."

"Bombshell is a heroine that is about being hard-core. There is hardly any cleavage is on display. No special attention is given to the fact that she is female. It was decided early on that she was to be awesome first and then female second."

"This game is all about the cathartic fun of destroying the alien foe, something that can be done quite well."

Cinemablend

"I'm eager to see more of Bombshell for sure, and Shelly herself. She's a real badass, and from what I've seen so far, the game looks like an awesome, raucous adventure. I'd love to get my hands on it soon for some impressions, but don't worry. As soon as I'm able to try it I'll get back to you with my thoughts."
