Out Now! Borderlands 3 Season Pass 2, Ultimate Edition, and more!
It's a big day for Borderlands 3, with the launch of Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition, Season Pass 2, Designer's Cut, Multiverse Final Form cosmetics, and more!
If you're not up to speed on all the new Borderlands 3 editions or the exciting additions in Season Pass 2, here's a quick refresher on each. For more details, check out our comprehensive Borderlands 3 Next-Gen FAQ.
Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition
Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition delivers the quintessential Borderlands 3 experience. It grants you access to all released Borderlands 3 content as of November 10, 2020, including the award-winning base game, four campaign add-ons via Season Pass 1, Designer's Cut (out now) and Director's Cut (coming Spring 2021) DLC in Season Pass 2, and multiple bonus cosmetic packs—including the new Multiverse Final Form cosmetics.

Season Pass 2 and Designer's Cut
Enhance your copy of Borderlands 3 with Season Pass 2, which includes both the all-new Designer's Cut and upcoming Director's Cut add-ons for a new year of mayhem! Experience new modes and missions, create deadly new builds, rock fresh styles with the Multiverse Final Form cosmetics, and more! Season Pass 2 requires Borderlands 3 to play and can either be purchased separately or as part of Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition.
Season Pass 2's first half, Designer's Cut, is available now, featuring a new skill tree for each Vault Hunter and Arms Race—an all new roguelike challenge where you and your friends drop in with nothing and have to battle to find and extract loot. Designer’s Cut can be purchased separately or as part of Season Pass 2.
Then in Spring 2021, get ready for the Director's Cut, a gameplay focused add-on that includes additional missions, end-game content, and behind-the-scenes extras!
Multiverse Final Form cosmetics
The Multiverse Final Form cosmetics imagine what our heroes would've looked like if they never became Vault Hunters! Each eye-catching pack contains a Vault Hunter Body with a new Head to match. These cosmetics can be mixed and matched with other Body and Heads as desired and can also be paired with skins.
All four Multiverse Final Form cosmetic packs will be granted to owners of the original Season Pass or Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe Edition, as well as owners of Season Pass 2 or Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition.
For a closer look at the Multiverse Final Form cosmetics, including their alt-history lore and how snazzy they look when paired with existing skins, check out our Multiverse Final Forms article.
The Borderlands 3 Twitch ECHOcast Extension offers some mayhem-tastic ways for viewers to interact with Borderlands 3 streamers and adds brand-new functionality in support of Arms Race. When streamers are playing Arms Race, the existing Moxxtail Event, Badass Viewer Event, and Pinata Event all work the same way, but the Rare Chest Event is replaced by the new Extractor Breach Event. When the streamer successfully extracts precious gear during a run through the Stormblind Complex, the Extractor Breach Event gives viewers a chance to score a copy of that gear for their in-game bank! In addition, the ECHOcast Extension now displays critical Arms Race information, including player location, respawner points, extraction locations, and the movement of the encroaching Murdercane.
We're also pushing Mayhem Mode to 11! This update lets you experience Mayhem 10 difficulty and loot without any of the Mayhem Modifiers, with slightly lower drop rates as a tradeoff for the mildly reduced challenge.
Borderlands 3 Patch and Hotfixes: November 9, 2020
Today we will release an update for Borderlands 3, which will be live on all platforms by 12:00 PM PST. This update adds support for the new add-on Designer's Cut, including Arms Race and a fourth skill tree for the Vault Hunters, Mayhem 11, adjustments to character balance, and other reported concerns. Today, the ECHOcast also received an update to support the Designer's Cut!
New Content
- Added a fourth Skill Tree for each Vault Hunter - Added Arms Race - Added Multiverse Final Form Cosmetics to those that own the Season Pass
Dev Note: Mayhem 11 is a copy of Mayhem 10 without any active modifiers. In this Mayhem level, the quality and amount of rewards from world drops are cut in half. Mayhem 10 gear does drop in Mayhem 11, so there is no need to re-farm any gear at this level. You can choose to gear up your characters quickly using Mayhem 10 or use Mayhem 11 to gear up more slowly with no modifiers.
Dev Note: As part of updating Anointments to support the new trees, we've also changed them to not activate on missed activations. The Siren can no longer "Fakegrasp" to activate Anointments, and the Beastmaster can no longer Gamma Burst while looking at the sky to trigger Anointments. We are monitoring how these changes affect these characters and their builds and are looking to adjust as necessary in the future. Our goal is to make sure that no Vault Hunter has an unfair advantage related to Anointments activating.
Dev Note: We've added a new series of Action Skill Damage Anointments for all skill trees. Now all Vault Hunter Action Skills have Anointments to buff their damage.

With the changes below, we hope to improve the matchmaking times for all types of content. As a reminder, you can always access Matchmaking via the Social menu.
Characters
Zane, the Operative
With today's patch, we have made several changes to Zane's Skill Trees and Class Mods. Our goals with these changes are to increase the Skill Tree build diversity as well as remove the reliance on one Class Mod for builds. While making these changes, we determined that certain skills should be moved on their respective skill trees to a different position.
For these skill changes to apply properly, Zane players will need to save/quit their characters once to have their trees updated to these new layouts. Skill points that were in the four swapped skills will be refunded when they load their characters the second time. If a player does not have enough points invested to unlock a high-tier skill they have previously applied points to, they will need to re-apply the refunded skill points before using those high-tier skills.
Skill Tree Changes
Hitman Tree
Death Follows Close is an incredibly strong passive skill, much stronger than the effects of the capstone Seein' Red. This feels backward, so we have swapped the position of these two skills to better represent their value relative to each other. Please remember the changes require you to save/quit your character once to function properly.
Under Cover Tree
Like the Hitman Tree, the mid-tier passive and capstone skills of this tree had an inverted value relative to their position. This change also allows players to get more value out of their shields and Barrier via Distributed Denial being much lower in the tree. Please remember the changes require you to save/quit your character once to function properly.
Double Agent Tree
Given the percent chance of Duct Tape Mod proccing, it could spell disaster for Zane in close quarters combat. Now players don't have to worry about accidentally downing themselves when a grenade is launched.
Class Mods
Infiltrator
Seein' Dead
This Class Mod has been over-performing, so we have removed some of the power from the mod. To counter this change, the Seein' Red passive skill within Zane's Hitman Skill Tree has been given a buff, effectively giving all players access to additional damage without the requirement of using this Class Mod.
Amara, the Siren
Certain types of damage were unintentionally being passed to other enemies caught in the Siren's Phasegrasp. This change prevents those interactions, but no other changes have been made to this skill. A previous hotfix did not address all the issues discovered and this solution is a more robust, permanent solution.
FL4K, the Beastmaster
ECHOcast Update
- Player location - Respawn locations - Extractor locations - Boss area - Death circle size, location, and time between states
This new ECHOcast event will allow viewers an opportunity to win streamer items in a setting that makes sense for Arms Race! In Arms Race, players must extract dropped gear to keep it to use outside of the game mode. This event gives viewers the chance to win items the streamer extracts from the game mode during play and after defeating the final boss.
Hotfixes
These changes will be live on all platforms by 12:00 PM PT. To apply hotfixes, wait at the main menu until you see a sign that reads, "Hotfixes Applied!" If you are experiencing any issues or want to provide feedback, please submit a ticket to support.2k.com.

Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition, Arms Race gameplay, and more revealed!
The Borderlands Show hosts Greg Miller, Fran Mirabella, and Mitsu really had their work cut out for them on the latest episode. After recapping a lot of recent exciting Borderlands 3 news, they unveiled the upcoming Ultimate Edition, got a first look at the Multiverse Final Form cosmetics, and showed off new Arms Race gameplay that's coming to Borderlands 3 on November 10 as part of the Designer's Cut add-on.
[previewyoutube="4OVD9S2IakQ;full"]
The latest episode of The Borderlands Show is jam-packed with exciting Borderlands 3 news, including the announcement of the Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition and the first look at Arms Race, which launches November 10 as part of Season Pass 2.
Arms Race is included in the new Designer’s Cut add-on, the new DLC that's available in Season Pass 2 or as a standalone purchase starting November 10, and offers a fast-paced, roguelike experience. In this challenging new mode, you’re stripped of all your gear and dropped into a new zone where you’ll have to get loot or die trying. Gearbox Software's Creative Director Graeme Timmins joined the gang to offer some developer insights as well.
[previewyoutube="X5hY0vtlp1o;full"]
Arms Race is hosted by two fan-favorite former Vault Hunters turned ECHOcast commentators: Axton and Salvador! These Borderlands 2 bros host the galaxy's premier reality murder show and you're their next all-star contestant. The action takes place throughout the Stormblind Complex: an expansive, decommissioned DAHL military base set on a wintry island in a previously hidden corner of Pandora.
The Stormblind Complex likely got its name for some extremely fatal weather called the Murdercane (short for 'murder hurricane') that perpetually ravages the base. As soon as you drop onto the island, you're racing against the clock to grab as much gear as you can and get it to extraction points before you get obliterated by the encroaching storm's icy devastation.
To ensure everyone's on equal footing, all skill trees are disabled in Arms Race, meaning no Action Skills or passive abilities. The focus here is on gunplay, rewarding your ability to blast attackers while avoiding the Murdercane. You can resurrect any fallen co-op allies at designated respawn points, but if everyone in your party falls, your Arms Race run is over and any loot you failed to extract is gone forever.
You've likely been ignoring white and blue rarity weapons for ages now, but in Arms Race, they could very well make the difference between a failed run and glorious triumph. If you’re lucky enough to find a Legendary, your chances of survival will certainly improve, but victory is never guaranteed.
If you hope to get the very best Legendary loot that only drops in Arms Race, you'll need to gear up and face off against Heavyweight Harker, the final boss of the Stormblind Complex. Arms Race will push your run-and-gun skills to their limits, and though you may die repeatedly, successfully completing a run will make you the stuff of ECHOcast legend.
Season Pass 2 is included with Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition, which delivers the quintessential Borderlands 3 experience. Ultimate Edition grants you access to all Borderlands 3 content released as of November 10, 2020, including the award-winning base game, six content add-ons, and multiple bonus cosmetic packs.
That includes a new set of four Multiverse Final Form cosmetic packs, one for each Vault Hunter. These incredible outfits add a new character body model and matching head for each Vault Hunter, giving you new ways to look fresh while causing trouble. The Multiverse Final Forms imagine how each character might've turned out in an alternate universe where they never became a Vault Hunter. For all you fashionistas, you'll be happy to know that these cosmetics can be mixed and matched with other Body and Heads as desired, and can also be paired with skins.
As a thank you to everyone who has maximized their mayhem thus far, the Multiverse Final Form cosmetic packs will also be granted to existing owners of Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe Edition and the original Season Pass, as well as the Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition and Season Pass 2.
Game Designer Tommy Westerman also shed some light on the new playstyles made possible by the new skill trees for Amara the Siren, FL4K the Beastmaster, Moze the Gunner, and Zane the Operative in the Designer's Cut. If you missed the recent in-depth reveals, check out the paired-up breakdowns in our Amara/FL4K and Moze/Zane articles, complete with developer commentary from Tommy and Graeme.

Reap new rewards in Bloody Harvest Returns!
Bust ghosts and claim new rewards in this free seasonal event for Borderlands 3!
[previewyoutube="ksIDuQbuod8;full"]
It's that spooky time of year again, when vengeful ghosts possess corporeal beings across the galaxy and rakk-o'-lanterns terrorize the skies.
Yes, Bloody Harvest has returned!
This free limited-time event runs in Borderlands 3 until November 5. Get revenge on the fearsome Captain Haunt and his macabre minions in the pursuit of brand-new rewards.
To take part in this optional event, seek out Maurice aboard Sanctuary III. Your friendly Saurian shipmate will give you a mission to collect Hecktoplasm from the ghosts that spawn when you kill haunted enemies. These possessed punching bags bear a telltale green glow and can be found throughout the galaxy. And while you only need the base game of Borderlands 3 to participate, ghostly foes can also be found in DLC locations like The Handsome Jackpot, Xylourgos, Gehenna, and even Krieg's Mind (DLC add-ons available for purchase separately). Killing haunted enemies spawns fearsome specters, which you’ll have to kill to collect that precious, precious Hecktoplasm.
Get enough ghost goo for Maurice and he'll open a portal to Heck, the blood-curdling abode of Captain Haunt! There you’ll find challenges to complete to unlock new Bloody Harvest items. You can view these challenges any time via a special tab in your ECHO Device. You’ll also notice that Maurice is getting less demanding in his advancing age and has made a few returning challenges less grindy (thanks, Maurice).
Loot you collect in Heck scales to your level and may include powerful “Terror” anointments that turn would-be debuffs into boons. As a fittingly festive reward, you can unlock a host of cosmetics by completing challenges, including a weapon trinket, ECHO Device skin, a shared Vault Hunter skin, and—for the most dedicated demolishers of Heck—a coveted weapon skin.
As with our other seasonal events, you have the option to opt in or out of Bloody Harvest Returns via the Main Menu. But if you want to show off some supernatural spoils to your fellow Vault Hunters, you'd do well to take part in the mayhem before it ends November 5!
Borderlands 3 Hotfixes: October 8, 2020
Today, Bloody Harvest returns to Borderlands 3, and with it comes weapon balance changes and adjustments to Zane the Operative! These changes will be live on all platforms by 12:00 PM PT. To apply hotfixes, wait at the main menu until you see a sign that says, “Hotfixes Applied!” If you are experiencing any issues or want to provide feedback, please submit a ticket to support.2k.com.
With the return of Bloody Harvest comes haunted enemies and Terror, a frightening status effect that will leave Vault Hunters a little shaken up! Haunted enemies can inflict the Terror debuff, which will affect your aim and partially cloud your vision—but could leave you with a boost of power when paired with the Anointments that will only be available during the event! The landscape of Borderlands 3 has changed since last year, and with that, the Terror anointments are also receiving some balance changes today.
Players who don’t want to see haunted enemies are able to turn off the Bloody Harvest event in the Main Menu.

Changes to Zane, the Operative
Today we're releasing several changes to Zane's passive skills and class mods. After buffing weapons, we started looking at how class mods were impacting the build diversity of the Vault Hunters. After investigating community feedback, we developed these changes to make more class mods viable for Zane in the end game. Most of the passive skill buffs changed today are used by class mods that had been underperforming. Additional changes to Zane are already planned, with some coming in future hotfixes and patches.
Skill Changes
Cold Bore
This skill only provides extra damage on the first bullet of a weapon swap. This bonus happens infrequently by nature, so we have massively buffed the damage. With this change, we are interested to see new builds centered around small magazine sizes, sniper rifles, and more.
Duct Tape Mod
We found that the value of this passive skill was limited by the cooldown between each grenade, so we've cut that in half. Players will need to be conscious of the cooldown time and type of grenade mod they equipped to get maximum value out of this passive skill.
Like a Ghost
The stacking bonus only occurs each time one of Zane’s action skills is activated. This is infrequent in the late game, as players generally extend their action skill duration time. We’ve made this change with that play style in mind.
Trick of the Light
The damage from this skill depends on the number of enemies targeting Zane and Zane’s clone and can occasionally be unpredictable. To better account for this inconsistency we've buffed the damage bonus.
Best Served Cold
Frutility Belt
To help encourage players to consider builds that remove elemental damage, we’ve buffed the damage mitigation to be stronger here.
Class Mod Changes
Anti-Freeze
Conductor
The damage bonus for this class mod is dependent on the amount of action skill duration time you have left. Like Trick of the Light, this damage can feel inconsistent. We have increased the damage bonus to provide more reliable damage.
Executor
Players suggested that the stat bonuses provided as a kill skill weren't strong enough to feel the value. We've buffed each significantly.
Techspert
The intent of this class mod is to provide a way to keep Zane's drone active nearly indefinitely, but at just 5% chance to refill the cooldown and duration, it wasn't consistent enough. We've increased the likelihood of this behavior occurring.
Borderlands 3 Hotfixes: September 17, 2020
Today in Borderlands 3, we addressed a reported exploit and comment on the frequency of future changes to the game. These changes will be live on all platforms by 12:00 PM PST. To apply hotfixes, wait at the main menu until you see a sign that says, “Hotfixes Applied!” If you are experiencing any issues or want to provide feedback, please submit a ticket to support.2k.com.
After this week, we will be changing the cadence in which we put out new hotfixes. Moving forward, the hotfix schedule will mirror when we put out updates, with exceptions for any emergency adjustments that we feel are necessary to the integrity of the game. The team is working hard on future updates and new content, which we are excited to share with you soon™.
New Skill Trees and More Revealed at PAX Online!
Catch up on all the Borderlands 3 news from the Gearbox PAX Digital Showcase!
[previewyoutube="s5cfuzdPFsE;full"]
After a year full of glorious, mayhem-riddled memories, Borderlands 3 still has plenty of chaotic content on the way. During the Gearbox PAX Digital Showcase, you got a first look at what's in store for Borderlands 3, including new features and an entirely new Skill Tree for FL4K as part of upcoming premium content.
Gearbox Software Creative Director Graeme Timmins shared the news that another paid DLC is coming later this year, bringing an additional Skill Tree for each Vault Hunter and more to those who purchase it. We got a first look at FL4K the Beastmaster's new Trapper Skill Tree, which features the powerful Gravity Snare Action Skill and a lovable line of Hyperion Loaderbots as a new pet type. Putting skill points into the Trapper Skill Tree will greatly increase shields and survivability for both FL4K and their pet, while the Gravity Snare Action Skill grants FL4K an effective means of crowd control. When thrown, the Gravity Snare will periodically toss nearby enemies into the air and slam them into the ground, interrupting their attack animations in the process and making it easier to isolate and eliminate your targets.
As for the robotic additions to FL4K's pet posse, the Hyperion Loaderbot comes in three varieties. There’s the ranged ION Loader, which fires slow-moving projectiles that can be shot to create powerful shock novas; the melee BUL Loader, which charges enemies and knocks them into the air with its shield (or just roundhouse kicks them); and the WAR Loader, which packs an incendiary shotgun, can toss grenades, and unleashes homing missiles on command.
That's just a taste of what's in store for Borderlands 3, and we'll have plenty more to share with you soon. Until then, thanks for tuning in!
Out Now! Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck
The fourth campaign add-on for Borderlands 3 is available now! This release coincides with a free level cap increase that raises the maximum Vault Hunter level to 65.
Thanks to some absurdly advanced technology devised by scientist Patricia Tannis, Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck—the fourth campaign add-on for Borderlands 3—takes place entirely in the titular meat maestro's messed-up consciousness. Tannis is convinced that this unimaginably unsettling environment holds the key to a mythical place that she's dubbed "Vaulthalla" so, starting right now, she needs you to seek it out in Krieg's mindscape.
What's New in Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck:
Regardless of whether you own Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck or any of the other Borderlands 3 campaign add-ons, today's free level cap increase means that your Vault Hunter can unlock five additional skill points on their way to the new maximum level of 65. If you'd like to explore interactive versions of the Vault Hunters' skill trees and figure out how you're going to use five more skill points to improve your current build, head on over to the pages dedicated to Amara the Siren, FL4K the Beastmaster, Moze the Gunner, and Zane the Operative.
In order to reach Krieg's Mind with an existing Vault Hunter, you'll need access to Sanctuary III, the starship you get by completing Episode 5 of Borderlands 3's main story missions. When you're ready to put your life in Tannis' hands and beam down into Krieg's noggin, look for a Psycho mask—highlighted with a yellow exclamation mark—in her lab aboard Sanctuary III.
Alternatively, if you don’t have access to Sanctuary III yet or want to explore Krieg's Mind as a new character, you can create a new Vault Hunter and have them bypass the opening acts of the Borderlands 3 story so you can head there right away. Once the campaign add-on is installed, select Play on the main menu, followed by New Game; you'll then get to choose which storyline you want to jump into.
Whether Tannis is right about Vaulthalla remains to be seen, but even in the Borderlands, opportunities to explore the psyche of a rampaging murder machine don't come along too often. Blow your mind with a visit to Krieg's today!
Borderlands 3 Patch and Hotfixes: September 10, 2020
