The new update is here!

Hello fellow Outlaws,

First of all, thanks to all of you who've been following our adventure. Thank you for your constant support, we owe you the success of the game and we're not forgetting it any time soon!

As we mentionned in the Early Access release announcement, we took a bit more time for ourselves after the release and are now coming back to you with our first update which mainly focuses on adding items to your arsenal (see below for more info).

--------------------
As a reminder, if you want to know more about our program regarding updates, we talked about the topic on the following announcement: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1968730/view/3358016661230844498
--------------------

We didn't just work on adding items, however, but also focused on balancing some items that felt underwhelming. Bumpty, our dedicated dev also dedicated quite a bit of time on optimizing the game. It's not perfect yet but I believe we are moving in the right direction.

We also bring you a little surprise with a brand new menu, the previous one had become outdated. I hope you enjoy.

Finally, as there is no game release without bug and error fixes, we fixed as many issues as possible and we appreciate your efforts to always keep us up to date with any issues that may have escaped us.

One last thing, given the changes in items and balance, the ladder is reset with every update! Time to grind the score!

That's all for today, I'll leave you with the details of the update and we'll see you again on September 22!

Enjoy!

Bounty of One: Early Access release!

This is it fellow outlaws! The Early Access is out! We are super excited for you to discover it!

First of all, I’d like to thank everyone that has been extra supportive of us! When we set out to create Bounty of One 4 and half months ago, it was only the two of us (Bumpty and I, Kobal) and some of our friends that we could take feedback from. Now, many people react on the steam community and there are a few hundreds of you on our discord server not only to give feedback but also suggestions and to share your love for our game. It has been stressful at times but it was fun and awesome ALL the time! We can’t thank you enough for your enthusiasm! This is your game as much as ours and we want to keep it that way. If you’re not on the discord yet, feel free to join! Let’s make a great game together:

Secondly, let me talk about how we imagine the upcoming weeks and our organization regardings updates from now on. We would like to work on a rhythm of one update every 2 weeks. During each two weeks, we will keep updating a beta branch of the game, if you’re curious, you can therefore check out the upcoming changes there. About 2 to 3 days before the 2 weeks deadline, no additional feature will be added to the beta branch and on the day of the update, the beta branch will merge into the main branch. However, if something does not seem to work in our eyes, we will take it upon ourselves to push it to the next update. We would rather give quality over quantity. Ideally (and I say ideally as it might change depending on waaaaaay to many things), we would like to have a 6 weeks cycle with the first 2 weeks update focusing on new objects, the second update on a new character and the last one on a new boss. All the while, we would be working on fixes, balancing and quality of life improvement of course! This planning may change over time but we will always be transparent about the changes. Overall, remember this cycle rule and know that we could decide to make an update sooner or later depending on the game’s needs.

This brings me to my next point: Our plans for the first cycle of 6 weeks. Well, ironically, we expect it to be longer than 6 weeks (see, transparency :) ), probably more like eight to nine. The first reason for that is that after 4 and a half months of intense work, we’d like to take it slow for the first 2 week update, it will take 3 weeks instead. Especially since launch always comes with its set of setbacks. The second reason is simply that the next boss we would like to work on is, you guessed it…

The Undertaker!

The Undertaker has been set up to be the strongest and final boss of the game and we want him to be perfect both visually and gameplay wise. He will also mark the finalization of what a run is supposed to be in Bounty of One, the 3 boss to win cycle we’ve talked a lot about before. This in turn will most likely require a new set of enemies to encounter. Henceforth, the longer it takes to get there.

Work in progress character design

Thirdly, in this last week, we’ve worked on fixing as many bugs as possible and on one special surprise feature for you all! We spared no expense... You will find him in the game soon enough, he is what we would call a “pepite d’or” (golden nugget) in french.

Finally, hereafter you’ll find the changes we made in this version, enjoy!

D-1 before Early Access release! Let's talk about the antagonists.

Hello fellow outlaws,

Only one more day until we release the Early Access version of Bounty of One! Today, we will talk a little bit about our favorite antagonists: Rex,Cupcake and Brutus and Crazy Denzel!

Rex, Cupcake and Brutus:
“The Undertaker has many many flaws and very few qualities. However, he possesses one redeeming trait that could be classified as human-like: his love for his dog. Never had the Undertaker been so close to being called decent than when his cerberus was alive. Nevertheless, Rex, Cupcake and Brutus eventually grew old and their fidelity was suddenly halted. Broken hearted, the Undertaker lost all remaining sympathetic traits. As he couldn’t let go of his most trustworthy companion, he resorted to using forbidden magic to bring his friend back. This endeavor left them both in an ethereal skeleton state that forced the Undertaker to remain hidden most of the time and act solely from the shadows!”

Crazy Denzel
“Like all his kind, Denzel is almost blind. This peculiarity prevented the mole-men from working as bounty hunters, sheriffs or hitmen for the longest time. However, the invention of dynamites allowed them to quickly assert themselves in those fields. When it comes to explosives, Denzel is the only one to be considered a master. He is known for creating many techniques such as the nunchuk-boom and his famous catch phrase : “Hey,as long as it works!”. Slowly, Denzel made a name for himself and often escaped the then sheriff of Greenhill, Nigel. Eventually, he ended up working for the Undertaker. He went up the ranks in the organization and managed to become the Undertaker’s right hand when he took part in the ambush on his old nemesis, Nigel. Since then, thanks to his boss’ numerous relations, he has been made the sheriff of Greenhill and reigns on the small city through fear.”

That is it for today, see you all tomorrow for the Early Access release!

Enjoy!

D-3 before Early Access release! Let's talk about the characters.

Hey there fellow outlaws!

Two days before Early Access release, we hope that you're as excited as we are! How about you wait with us next to the fire.

Today, no lore unfortunately, we just wanted to share our latest trailer for the EA release. Hope you'll like it!

Enjoy!

D-3 before Early Access release! Let's talk about the characters.

Hello fellow outlaws,

It’s D-3 till Early Access release, it is now time to introduce Ollin.

“Not much is known about the mysterious childlike spirit that is Ollin. Most people think that he is the result of deliriums from the thirsty travelers who claim to have been saved by the entity. Indeed, if we are to believe the crazed travelers, Ollin seems to roam the desert and appears only to help lost souls but more importantly, he possesses a legendary weapon long thought to be lost : The Mighty Mezcal Staff! This peculiar fact led to a common rumor among the people who believe in his existence that Ollin would be the reincarnation of Mezcal.
A notable person who believes in the existence of Ollin is the Undertaker. Indeed, in his search for power he has long been trying to locate the staff in order to improve his own might. To retrieve the weapon, the undertaker has put a price on Ollin’s head and actively searches for the spirit.
Ollin, full of his signature innocence, actually quite enjoys the chase. Never has a game of “Tag,you’re it” been this fun!”

In the game, Ollin is the mage archetype of the bunch. To unlock him you will have to lower your cooldown to 50% or lower. He comes with the Mighty Mezcal Staff, an object with a powerful ability that not only allows him to shoot a huge projectile that bursts into multiple darts upon contact but also improves his overall cooldown reduction. The only cost of this weapon is a hefty malus of minus 40% to attack speed.

Ollin is great with anything that has cooldown, taking objects that synergise with that will get stronger and stronger. For the same reason, taking Cooldown reduction upgrades increases his efficiency even further. The usual damage upgrades will work wonders on him as well.

D-4 before Early Access release! Let's talk about the characters.

Hey fellow outlaws,

It’s D-4 before the EA release so let’s continue our streak of presentation. Let’s continue with our oldest member yet: Nigel!

“For his entire life, Nigel has followed the path of justice. Often he would come to the aid of anyone who needed it. During his younger years, he was acclaimed as a hero of the people and would often receive rewards for his courage. Those rewards, he would of course share them with those in need.
After years of adventures, Nigel settled in a small town called Greenhill and quickly became its loveable sheriff. All seemed well but soon whispers and rumors were heard in the valley, dark tales of a man who wanted to take power over the kingdom. Nigel could not let this slide and decided to use the wisdom he had gained over the years to investigate.
He eventually confronted the man responsible for these schemes : The undertaker! Unfortunately, Nigel was set up and was left for dead in the desert. He was however saved from the brink of death by natives elves who lived in a nearby hidden village. While he recovered there, he learnt how to use the weapon he now wields : the Sheriffken!
Back at full health,he now roams the desert in order to bring true justice to the kingdom.”

Nigel is the tactician archetype of the game, he is often the first character you will unlock and requires a bit more skill to use especially in early game. However he comes with its signature weapon, the Sheriffken, that gives him 5 pierce and boomerang like projectiles as well a malus of minus 40% attack speed. He can overcome that malus during the run and become quite the killing machine though.

Ideally, you should aim for Area of Effect size upgrades as it will also impact the range of its weapon. Other than that, you could go in any direction with him, indeed his tendency for Area of Effect upgrades make him suitable for dash builds and AoE builds and his innate pierce amount make him good with crit builds. Go crazy!

That’s it for today! See you tomorrow to introduce the last member of the cast (for now)!
