BrawlQuest

The BrawlQuest Discord

Hello everyone!

We're pleased to announce that we've set up a new official BrawlQuest Discord server. Gone are the days of relying on the PebsieTTV one!

Join us here!

Early Access 1.1.5

A new update is now available for BrawlQuest. We've really focused in on crashes and other performance issues that were preventing people from being able to play the game as intended. There's still work to do but hopefully this'll greatly improve your experience if you've been having trouble.

[GENERAL]
- Greatly improved rubber banding
- Reworked world creation to use multiple canvasses rather than 1 big canvas. This will allow the game to be played on older GPUs where before it would crash
- Fixed various client crashes (thank you for all the feedback and patience!)
- Improved paths to more consistently offer a speed boost

[UI]
- Fixed a graphical glitch that was showing the quest panel header when you didn't have any quests
- Items are now cleared from crafting when closed

[SERVER]
- Fixed various server crashes
- Fixed an issue that only caused mobs to regain aggro when on full health (this is what was causing bosses to regain their health when their first target died)

1.1.4 Crash Fix

A crash that was affecting some users on 1.1.4 has now been fixed an update has been pushed live. This is for the "attempt to index global 'v' (a nil value)" error.

Early Access 1.1.4

A new version of the game is now live with the following changes:

[GENERAL]
- Double drops from Luck spells now affect all player loot equally (previously it was calculated per player so some players would get double drops and some wouldn't) (feedback: Roccandil)
- The lower limit on earning XP from mobs is now 1 (previously 3: this will mean that more mobs give you XP than before)
- Enemies that won't give you XP now highlight gray when aggro'd to you
- You can no longer be affected by more than 1 INT spell at a time (the highest value radius spell is used)
- You're now "tagged" for loot and XP if you're marked as being in combat with an enemy (this means that spells and support roles now earn XP and loot without having to melee hit the target)
- You now restore 10% HP per second when out of combat (rather than +10 HP per second)
- Fixed an issue that prevented the Frost Cloud Mount from drawing (feedback: Klekotnik)

[UI]
- Added tooltips to settings options
- Added item amounts to the hotbar (this will be reworked with the API soon to ensure that consumed items aren't on the hotbar)
- Re-added players online text in the top right
- Fixed the chat box backing
- You can now toggle chat by clicking on the chatbox

[SERVER]
- Improved security
- Greatly reduced teleportation sensitivity (this should help with the rubber banding issue some users are experiencing)
- Resource nodes are no longer caught in chain aggro (feedback: Roccandil)
- Fixed an issue that prevented players from dying within 24m of a headstone
- Fixed an issue which was causing idle player updates to spam console logs
- Fixed a server crash caused by idle players
- Fixed an issue where Luck drop percentage worked inverse (IE 1% had a higher chance of double drops than 100%) (feedback: Klekotnik)
- Fixed an issue that was causing people on slower connections to not be able to launch the game (thank you Rilansis!)

Early Access is here!

What a long, strange trip it's been.

I started BrawlQuest in 2017 in my first year of University. It went through so many different iterations, rewrites and design changes that people would constantly be asking me "When is BrawlQuest releasing?" as a bit of an inside joke.

Well, bizarrely and excitingly here it is. 4 years on. Finally. BrawlQuest: Early Access. An MMORPG created by a team of 2.

Right now, there's a lot of stuff you can do in the game:

  • Level from 1 - 25
  • Earn gear / loot
  • Harvest resources and craft items
  • Find rare mounts including BOATS
  • Fight against bosses
  • Completely quests for kind-hearted (although sometimes murderous) NPCs
  • Explore a pretty large world

This is just the start. We'll be aiming to add in new content weekly and major features as fast as we can design and implement them. There's still some work to be done on the world and many more quests to be added, but we're extremely excited to dig into feedback both positive and negative.

We hope that you'll be joining us on this journey and experience BrawlQuest as it grows. Thank you!

Tom

NOTICE: End of Support for 1.0.6

Hello everyone!

As we're prepping for Beta 1.1 - our biggest update yet - we need to start the transition on the live server. As a result the current Beta - 1.0.6 - will not be playable until the new update is live. Once the game launches we'll set up an appropriate dev server to make this transition smoother in the future.

Look out for Beta 1.1 heading live later today.
