End of Season 1

Hi all, just a quick word to say that Season 1 will end on October 31st at 11:59PM GMT. The rewards will be in place at that time too, as well as some other stuff.

Update 0.19

Hi guys, first of two updates this week.

- NEW: Achievements. Will be adding some more of these, so let me know what you like, what you don't like and so on!
- NEW: Escape zone will now no longer be usable until you've stolen some money. Red = no escape, green = escape possible.
- NEW: Goalposts.
- FIXED: Some sound issues.
- FIXED: Hitboxes were still broken on the wandering guards, this is now fixed.
- FIXED: Some other things here and there.

Enjoy!

Update 0.18

Hi guys, here's the update for this week as planned. It should be live in 5 minutes or so.

This update sees the return of the weapons store, so be sure to check that out! As usual, more bugs fixed too.

- ADDED: Weapons store.
- FIXED: Clipping on some walls in Apartments map.
- FIXED: Guards should no longer clip through certain doors.
- FIXED: Cheaters will no longer show on the leaderboard or the target list, and any raids they attempt will have no effect on their target. These measures will continue to be improved upon as needed.
- FIXED: Some lighting stuff on the player model.

Next week will see a new feature and (finally) some achievements. There's still time to get some ideas in for these so feel free to share!

Have a nice weekend.

0.17 Hotfix

Hi all, quick update today to fix the shooting/seeing through walls problem on the Apartments map.

I've also had to spend a lot of time this week on dealing with cheaters and working on better detection, time which I'd much rather be using on adding new stuff. Hopefully this will be better now!

Hoping to get another update out tomorrow bringing back the weapons shop with a new feature or two!

Update 0.17 - Season 1

Hi guys, big update this time! Several new things added, several things to discuss, and several things to consider!

Let's start with the big one.

Season 1

Break_In will now be played out over seasons, each lasting one month. Everyone who participates during these seasons will unlock something cosmetic for the following season, with the top 50 players (the most wanted) taking something a little bit more special and exclusive. It goes without saying that the number 1 player will also get something special! I haven't yet decided on what form these rewards might take, but it will definitely be something cosmetic. Perhaps something for your safehouse, a flashy getaway car, even weapon skins? I'm very open to ideas on this, and what you'd like to see!

You can access the Most Wanted list from the main menu. It's probably a good place to find a big score too!

A side note, everyone's map has been reset to the Junkyard, and their money defaulted to $50,000. In the interest of fairness, of course :)

Return of Apartments

I was never quite happy with how the Apartments map turned out before, but it's now back in and fully converted to the grid system, featuring a massive 139 spaces to place defenses. There are also a couple of new types of defense exclusive to this map, the laser grid and the lockdown door. These defenses can be placed in any corridor space, with the lasers triggering the alarm on player contact, and the lockdown door slamming down when the alarm sounds for 60 seconds, closing your invader's escape route.

Other fixes

As always, more bugs fixed.

- Hitboxes now accurate for backup.
- Garage door on Junkyard should now open and close for AI.
- AI can no longer see through certain vault doors.
- Fixed a camera placement on Hideout.
- Removed muzzle flash from the silenced pistol.
- Fixed alarmed windows button, you can now purchase these.
- Some other small issues.

The update should be live in 5-10 minutes all being well, I hope you guys enjoy it. Have a great weekend!

Update 0.16

Hi guys, as promised here's the update for tonight with the Hideout map revamped and running on the grid system.

I also fixed an issue where two vaults were spawning on every map, the correct location should show in both the grid menu and the map itself.

In addition, the hitboxes on guards have been adjusted and should now be a lot more reliable when shooting.

And a few other fixes here and there!

Enjoy!

Update 0.15

Hi guys!

Update 0.15 is almost live and will kick off a week of content for Break_In culminating in an announcement on Friday evening! A quick run through of the features.

Grid

The way you place defenses on your safehouse is now customisable, you can pick what you want to put in which space. This should add a lot to the game going forward!

Note that as of tonight only Junkyard is using the grid, with the Hideout and Apartment maps to follow this week. Forest will be withdrawn for a while until I can improve it and give it some substance.

AI

The AI has been completely rewritten and are now a lot smarter. They'll no longer rush you on arrival, instead searching the place to find you and call to their allies for help. They'll also try and flank you in combat, and advance on you from cover.

UI

The first steps have been taken towards a better UI, though this is only a first iteration with a lot more to come.

Lastly, sorry for the delay. It's been far too long but things are back on track at long last. Thank you to those of you who stuck with the game, and I hope this update improves your experience as dramatically as I think it will!

Craig

A little update.

Hi guys, a few things to say!

Firstly, I'm very sorry for the delay and radio silence. I've been dealing with a lot of things, but I haven't forgotten about this, so don't worry!

I haven't given up on this at all, I've just had a bunch of technical problems and distractions that forced me to rewrite certain parts, and it's taking way longer than I would've liked. I'm still here! I still have you guys on my friends list, despite what one or two may say!

Going forward, I'd like to make it up to those of you who stuck around by giving you something special and limited ingame, and I'd like some ideas as to what you'd like and so on. As for the next update, I've found that giving dates is useless when you'll often run into something you didn't anticipate, but the aim is for sometime next month.

I hope you're all doing well!

Update 0.07a

Hi everyone!

Update about to go live. Featured this time:

- Electronic panel hacking. Don't want to wait around for 2 minutes each time on a door countdown? Try finding the override panel (they can be in different places in each map) and breaking the little puzzle and all doors will come open instantly! Be careful though, you get a limited amount of moves, and failing will trigger an alarm. Once you move one piece you are committed, and backing out at this stage will also trigger an alarm.

Wouldn't want it to be too easy would we? :)

- Safe cracking. No more hit and running on people with money printers. If you have a money printer now, your cash will be kept in a safe which will require cracking. There's a detailed explanation when you try it in game and I hope you'll enjoy it!

- A new piece of music for the most recent map. Oz works his magic again.

- A few fixes around the place, a lot still to make though. Wanted to get this out there as I know a few of you found the waiting around a bit dull, so hopefully this livens things up :)

Achievements to follow next week, and a new map or two for next month.

Have a great weekend, I'll be in the group chat for a little while if anyone has questions or anything.

Thanks!

Craig

A slight setback

Hi everyone! I'm sure a few of you are wondering why there's been no update for the last few weeks, so I thought I'd let you know where we're at.

I've moved country in the last few days, and I won't bore you wtih the details but it's a move I wasn't expecting to make, so this has naturally set me back a little bit. But rest assured I'm back to work on Monday and should have everything back on track by next Friday.

The trading cards will face a slight delay further, due to a change in plan of the artwork provider (again, this relates to the whole moving thing!)

Achievements still on track however, and those along with the new safecracking/hacking mechanics should (if all goes to plan with the catching up) be in-game by the end of next week.

Sorry for the delay, know that I'm still here, and this is still my priority :)

Any queries or anything, feel free to add me/leave a comment.

Cheers!

Craig
