In a couple weeks I'll post an update on Warlordocracy, a pixel and tile-based RPG that will gradually turn into an RTS when you recruit enough homies. Right now I'm making sure the notepad scripting language is working for max modability, then I'm gonna get to work on the map editor. After that... ahhhh... story.
Meanwhile, here are some articles I wrote when I got sick of coding:
I just put the SteamWUT program in the free Extras DLC. It should help you upload mods to the Steam Workshop. Heeeell yeah, thank you to Quadrajet. There's a test story on the Workshop right now. He's also making a new legit story with new characters and it looks amazing.
Official 3-Year Anniversary
It is the official 3-year anniversary of the release of Brigand: Oaxaca. No more bugs. Please, Satan, for the love of all that is unholy, no more bugs.
But seriously, if there are any more bugs, let me know.
Thank you to Steam people for reporting all the shit I never would have had time to find on my own. Right now I'm working on the notepad scripting language for my next project, then I gotta make the world editor. Then also I have to try and get another day job and get laid. So it will be a while before the next update. But you are all my babies, and I love you all.
Version 7.0
SOURCE CODE: -If skills 7 to 13 have no names, second skill window is disabled (for modding). -Compass image can now be customized in story folder resources. -Updated notes in Launcher.
STORY FILES: (requires starting a new game) -Fixed a problem with a Python 44 near Freeway 175 that held 8 bullets (should be 6).
Also listen to this audio book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRIdWyDptak
Version 6.9B
God damn, I hope these are the last script bugs in Panama.
SCRIPTS: -(PANAMA) Fixed a couple of script bugs with Yalo. -(PANAMA) Fixed a bug where the Flying Squirrel would appear in two places in chapters 4+5.
ALSO:
It's gonna be at least 3 months until my next Warlordocracy Demo. Right now I'm putting in the TXT scripting to make it modable (the first demo was all hard-coded). I was thinking about not doing scripts this time and giving out the source code for modders instead, but fuck that.
Here's a link to the first demo if you wanna try it out. It's maybe almost fun?

Version 6.9
This patch replaces all the sound effects with the same format, hopefully more compatible with people using Linux or some other weird shit. It also fixes a couple problems with naming the player character. And some other stuff. I'm hoping people can get this running like a vodka smoothie over a Linux nerd's tits.
SOURCE CODE: -Fixed bug with player's name from last update. -Included left/right mouse inversion option for some Linux players. -Fixed bug in which script booleans wouldn't work in the script if they weren't all lower case.
SCRIPTS: -Player is now forbidden from naming himself after main characters (to prevent script bugs). -Increased shock damage when player is swimming in the ocean during a lightning storm. -(PANAMA) Disabled compass at start of Panama story.
RESOURCES: -Replaced every file in the DEFAULT sounds folder with a uniform format for Linux compatibility. -Replaced some texture files for Linux compatibility.
Linux/Proton Update Soon
I only ever got Brigand to run on Linux for about 5 minutes with WINE before crashing, and I can't remember the error message. But apparently people are playing it pretty smoothly now on Proton, which makes me happy. The main problem seems to be the sound files.
I hate dealing with audio and video, but I should at least make sure all the sound effects are in the same format. If someone out there has Proton and wants to download this RAR file and replace all the sound files to make sure it works, I'll post a new patch in a day or so with some other updates as well. The new sounds are twice the size, but it's worth it for compatibility.
Warlordocracy will be the next project from Laughing Coyote Software. It's a real-time RPG that lets you pause and give orders to your party. Currently, it's just a single random map, a couple quests, and some baddies sprinkled around. No special abilities yet, but the inventory, combat, and dialogue are at least functioning. It should also be pretty challenging and work on Linux.
Get the demo here: https://blancaster45.itch.io/warlordocracy-demo
It's going to have a completely original soundtrack by Daniel Estay. And it will eventually be completely cross-platform.
Version 6.8B
There is new voice acting for Cherub in the Panama DLC. It was pretty obvious it was recorded on a cell phone. I also fixed a problem with the BSL scripting. The if statements required all lower case, now it doesn't matter.
I should have a playable demo for my next project in a couple weeks.
Brigand Mod Site
Two people here are making some new stories for Brigand, and I'm looking for a good site. I just got Brigand approved on Nexus, but it seems kind of complicated. https://www.nexusmods.com/brigandoaxaca
Maybe ModDB? But what I'm looking for is something that's just simple as fuck. Upload, download, no other worries. Like that NWN database back in the day.
Unfortunately, Steam Workshop only works if you implement it into the game code, and I cannot.
