Added many new foods

Chocolate bars, Energy bars, Ramen, Cereal, Frozen Pizza, Orange Juice, Whiskey, Chips, and more foods have been added in this update. With new foods come new interactions: Chocolate bars and Energy bars must be opened before being eaten; Ramen must be opened, drenched with almond water, and cooked in the microwave before it can be eaten; Cereal and Chips must be opened before eating and they have a large quantity inside; And lastly, frozen pizza must be taken out of the box and cooked before it can be enjoyed. Whiskey and Orange Juice re-use old interactions.

Added stoves and microwaves

Practically anywhere there's a residential microwave or stove in-game, it's been replaced by an useable version. If you find one that hasn't been replaced, let me know on the discord or in the steam forums. The microwave is rather simple: open the door, put in your food, close the door, and turn it on. The oven is more complex: you can either grab the center dial to turn on the stovetop, or open the door and turn on on the oven part itself. This is the only way to cook the pizza. Oddly enough, you can put the microwavable ramen in there, it just takes much longer to cook.

Added level 296

Where should all of these new foods go? Level 296 is the answer. Written by our playtester Master Gamer and published to his wiki, it's a large grocery store with several different departments. The lights turn off after a while although no entities spawn since the level is Class 0. There are some special rooms like a maze of freezers, a room with a very high ceiling, and a loooong hallway full of aisles. There are many shopping carts throughout the level that you can push around and shop with.

Balanced shotgun shells

Many changes have been made to shotguns that overall buff them. Here's a list of changes:

- Buckshot spread patterns for the 870 and Double Barrel shotguns have been standardized
- Buckshot does more damage
- Buckshot does even more damage up close, with a strong falloff. Although, it's possible to kill things from far away with it if you have a long enough barrel
- Barrel length of the 870s and Double Barrels effects spread. The sawn-off variants are very hard to use at over 15 yards or so
- Recoil has been altered on the double barrels to feel better, but it still isn't finished
- Slugs do less damage
- Buckshot and slugs now do extra headshot damage. If you're far out, aiming at the head is the best option

The M4, Gatekeeper (and variants), and other shotguns haven't been migrated over to use the new spread patterns for buckshot yet, but the damage changes still take effect.

Made Mac-11 logic more realistic

Open bolt weapons are not capable of retaining a round in the chamber typically after the mag is dropped. This is now reflected as well as making it easier to operate slightly.

Streamlined Skin-stealer Death

Skin-stealers flop over instantly instead of playing an animation and they also have a new death sound. This makes obliterating skin-stealers with the sawn-off shotgun VERY satisfying. More blood effects coming soon.

KNOWN BUGS: Cereal, chips, chocolate bars, energy bars, and cassette players can cause physics issues when put in the backpack. Most times, it should be OK though.

Made the backpack 30% larger

For all runs, but especially hard mode, it's important to carry a lot of items if you want to survive for a long time in the backrooms. So, the backpack is now 30% bigger after receiving a couple of user requests for this. The hand positioners relative to the screwdriver hitbox have been updated, if you have any issues with the screwdriver hitbox, let us know.

Added a Bucket of Chicken record to the record store

Into A New WRLD is now available in the record store. Thanks Bucket Of Chicken!

Added Shake Light

Simply shaking this light lights it up. Although, it uses the same battery system as the other flashlight. It can be bought at Chaz'z Gunz 'N' Suppliez on level 4. Requested by Cameraman on our discord server.

Added several survival features to hard mode

Covid-19 cases have been going down in the frontrooms, but apparently, a new disease has been rising in the backrooms! In Hard Mode, you can now get sick by eating raw meat or eating with bloody hands. Sickness makes you cough and take more damage, as well as have longer screen effects when damaged. You can disinfect yourself with a bottle of pills, found in tan crates. There is currently a known bug where pill jars can become empty when transferred between levels. Speaking of bloody hands, you can now get bloody hands by getting damaged in hard mode. Bloody hands can be washed off by pouring any liquid on your hands.

Made it so that you can rob the level 33 ATMs

ATM robberies were never as simple! Just simply grab a crowbar (conveniently placed on the opposite table) and bash the ATM to smithereens (it awards 100BB) - Suggested by NotASDF on our discord

Added a thirst meter

This is a massive change. Thirst, hunger, health, and sanity are all separate stats now. This makes food items very valuable and balancing operations will be carried out in the future to attempt to make the stats engaging and a constant threat.

Added ammo saving to several more weapons

Not a perfect feature (still has some bugs), however ammo now persists across levels. If you use a couple of shots from a Mac-11 to take out a window in level 22, go to 23, go to 20, and somehow find yourself back in 22 (like I did on a stream testing), you will still have the same amount of ammo in your mac-11 as when you left off shooting. This applies to all magazine-fed weapons right now, however it will be applied to shotguns and grenade launchers later.

Made windows not do damage to you in No Entities mode or No Sanity mode
Removed the hub entrance from the ragerooms
Fixed some collision issues with the MP7

Completely reworked the record player

The record player has been in-game for a long time now, however it's never really had any use until now. Do you have a hole burning in your wallet? Then these are for you! Added LunaNightZ records on level 11

LunaNightZ records is new in level 11, providing you with access to five crates worth of goodies. 12 inch singles and full LPs are sold. The store also sells cassettes, boomboxes, and tape players.

Reworked Cassettes and tape players

Tape players now have the same UI as the record player when a tape is inserted. In addition, you can now eject cassettes from the player realistically. There are 9 new cassettes available, including a creepy cassette you can find in the depth of the backrooms. Cassettes now live in cases as well. The boombox's cassette player now is functional and acts like the tape player.

Revamped level0dark, level1dark

Level 0 dark got some navmesh changes but is mostly the same. Level 1 dark however, got some graphical updates and updated exits. If you're new, a "dark" level is an alternate version of a level that is darker, redder, and has more entities. "Dark" levels are a separate concept from "dimly lit" levels.

Added Dark Level Crystals

Dark Level Crystals are a new crafting material that can only be found in dark levels. They can be used to craft ultimate almond water.

Due to the mid-week hotfix, not much else was done this week in the realm of changes. But hey, there are still a couple of new things to check out:

Added a new recipe for smiler repellent

As per the original wiki article, Smiler Repellent now has a crafting recipe in the liquid brewer. Add almond water and cashew water into the bowl and press the red button to brew. This also gives a use to cashew water.

Overhauled Semi-auto Pistols

I originally made an improved pistol script for a gun I will be unveiling at Christmastime. However, I liked how it felt and wanted the 1911 and m9 to feel similar. So, this new script was applied to them as well. It streamlines the animations, fixes an issue with magazines not being in the guns at spawn, and also improves magazine collision. The 1911 magazine now only holds 7 rounds.

Hotfix 3.61.1

Added VasoSkin Skin Ointment

This new item comes in a small jar that you can use to befriend skin-stealers with. However, squirt some in your hand and you can slather it onto skin-stealers. It doesn't work with fast skin-stealers though.

V. 3.61 MAIN BRANCH UPDATE

This update is back on the main branch! If you are on the beta branch, you will also be updated to this version automatically.



Added Level 100

Level 100 is a sprawling beach. Currently the longest static level in-game, level 100 consists of a beach with many random objects strewn about including graves, buckets, and lawn chairs. There's a nice house you can visit and a cave you can exit through. Fun fact: Level 100 is around 3.5x longer than level 10's longest side. Suggested by @Master Gamer on our discord.



Added many new rooms to level 33

Many new offices, a machinery room, and a flooded room have been added to level 33. These all branch off of existing rooms and make the level much more non-linear. The starting area has also been changed to be a little bit longer.

Now that it isn't everywhere, buffed the mac-11

The Mac-11 has been buffed from around 2.3 damage to 3.5 damage points. It also has a new sound, a slower fire rate, and more controllable recoil. The mac-11's price has also been increased and it's available in less places in the wild.

Added some new entity noises

The Skin Stealer yodel has been (mostly) removed. Skin-stealers now make a terrifying noise similar to facelings, and also have some faint talking mixed in there. It's pretty creepy when you can barely make out words in the audio.

Added a fast skin-stealer

A fast skin-stealer variant has been added. He has different, zombie-like animations and runs at around 2x the speed. The speed of normal skin-stealers has been adjusted to look better with the animations.

Removed...Even more vault cheese

I have appended the list of vault-exempt magazines to include many new ones. Deagle, m4a1, m1a, BAR, MP7, PPSH, 357 Revolver, 44 Revolver, Tox-106, MK3, As Val, AKS74U, AK47, and Casino Chris Vector mags are now all exempt. Suggested by @NotASDF on our Discord Server.

Made some changes to level 14

Level 14 is now darker, better optimized, more lore-heavy, and expansive with new locations and a new exit. Suggested by @SherlockBuzti on our Discord Server.

Now for some rapid-fire changes:

Raised the doors in level 5
Changed the way that entities spawn in level 13
Re-added the Aim test map
Fixed some weird ledge collision on level 24 houses
Removed some alternate spawn points on level 13
Friends cannot be damaged by punches

Revamped level 13

Although major, this is most likely the smallest revamp we've done in a while. New signs, better trims, more furniture, less darkness, a creepier level event, and lighting error fixes are just some of the things that are new in level 13. There are also some bug fixes related to entities and wall trims. The key to the apartment now costs 35,000BB, but comes with an added bonus: level 13 will be added as a location in the Frontrooms Stairs to no-clip to. Instead of spawning in one of the hallways, you'll spawn in the apartment (next to a free MP7 Submachine Gun).

Revamped the FUN Minigames

Long in need of a revamp, the FUN minigames sat stranded in the old level FUN style with broken janky navmesh and terrible music. All five maps still contain the original purpose of each part, but with complete overhauls to the graphics and mechanics. There are also new music tracks by LunaNightZ, thanks Luna!

Added level 11's exits back

The level 12 entrance and the level 480 entrance were missing from the current version of level 11. Now, it's fixed! The level 12 entrance is on the side of a building and the level 480 entrance is inside of a building named "inconvenience store".

Removed a lot of vault cheese

A new blacklist has been implemented to keep level keys, crate keys, magazines, and several other objects out of the vault.

Level 14 revamp

Although WIP, Level 14 is looking much better than the old version. It's another top-to-bottom overhaul. Some new locations include a homestead, a very large tree, a pond, a giant hill poking out of the forest, and two explorable houses. The exit bunker is completely new as well.



Added some new hallucinations

When your sanity is under 30%, you may find yourself losing your mind. Entities may spawn near you and then be gone in a second, or sometimes you may hear entity noises without a source. Keep some almond water in your backpack and it shouldn't be an issue.

Added Gas Cans

Some new cans of gas have been added. These can pour highly flammable gas on the floor which can then be lit by a lighter or torch (or any other fire source). Gas will not just fizzle out after it burns/explodes, it will also light other gas nearby on fire.

Added Halloween Event

There is a Halloween/Fall event in the Level 11 MEG Base's Convention Hall. Be sure to stop by! They are selling four new limited time items: Spooky/Halloween themed variants of glowsticks, torches, balloon guns, and Seal Flex. Also, guess how many almonds are in this jar! Putting your answer on discord could give you a special prize: a Mac-11 Skin.




Screwdriver now snaps back into the backpack

A simple change, but hey, makes using the screwdriver more bearable! It snaps back just like the backpack does to your back, so as to have no more infinite screwdrivers. Screwdrivers now have no interaction collision when in their slot, and they now can pop balloons!

Added more rooms to the level 0 sprawl

Many connector halls and a new room have been added to level 0's sprawl area. These include an area with several chairs similarly designed to a room from the 2nd newest Kane Pixels video, an area with a long plank that acts as a ramp up to the adjacent hallway, and more.

Flamethower enhancements

The flamethrower now acts as more of a full-auto fire shotgun. There is a faster "fire rate", more spread of the fire, and a random chance for a Dragon's Breath styled projectile to come out. Ammo depletes more slowly.

Prevented more hard mode cheese

When you turn on hard mode, the balloon gun by the vault deletes itself now, along with any items spawned from the vault. When dying in the backrooms, items are now unsaved and won't come back with you to the frontrooms (was an intentional effect but was considered cheese by players).

Grenades now damage balloons

Simple change: grenades, when exploding, will pop balloons in their explosion radius. Makes for some pretty fun shenanigans when you spawn many more balloons than your PC can handle.

Crafting Changes

Firesalt crystals are back and can be mined in levels 5 and 8 (the old locations in level 5 have been removed/altered). They can be used to craft firesalt grenades and scarabacks, two new crafting recipes. Drills have been mostly removed from levels. Drills can now be bought or crafted.
