Challenge Missions Update (New Enemies and Evolutions)

The Buggos Challenge Mission Update!



The humans have brought some brand new technology to battle against your Buggo might! Defeat their new found abilities within 5 TOUGH new challenge missions that will test your Buggos skills. You will also have access to 5 new evolutions that can help you in both the campaign as well as the challenge missions.

New Content




  • Added 5 Challenge missions into the game - these are a series of single map challenges where you are given a set number of evolution points to spend in order to defeat the humans. Expect many more to come in future updates.


New Evolutions!




  • Nutrient Recycle - Gain a small amount of nutrients from each Buggo that dies. Does not work with builders.
  • Building Regeneration - Buildings regain their health over time.
  • Survival Instinct - If a Buggo would take leathal damage, there is a 10% chance they survive with 1 health.
  • Wasp Infestation - When a wasp dies they spawn 5 swarmers at their location.
  • Radiation Resistant - Buggos only take 1/2 damage from radiation.


New Human Unit




  • Tesla Bot - A fast and nimble war bot that excels at hit and run tactics.


New Human Buildings




  • Human Flame Turret - A short range turret that spews fire.
  • Hedgehog - Stationary defensive structure that hurts to touch.
  • Robotics Lab - Produces and controls Tesla Bots.

  • Robot Testing Facility – Now Buggos start with 2 hives. Added a few more cliff walls to slow down the enemy
  • Dropships will no longer attack your buildings directly. They can now only spawn where there are currently human units.

  • Survival - Fixed the spore artillery upgrade not working.
  • Survival – Fixed an issue where the population pop up was not displaying correct bug/bug numbers.
  • Survival – Fixed an issue where selective breeding eggs were not working correctly when switching back and forth between evolution chamber.

  • Unit stats popup had attack range twice instead of attack speed.

Huge rework and rebalance of Buggos + Evolution Tree

Patch notes 1.4:



Large balance rework of the evolution tree.



My goal with this rework was to provide more power and more choice early on for the player. Additionally, I wanted to make sure that survival players wouldn’t need to path through nodes that did not directly help them (i.e. - moved the starting nutrient nodes to a side branch).

Some of the major theme changes include: moving the builder tree more front and center to encourage player to work on economy earlier, making selective breeding mandatory for further progression into the evolution tree, and separating out Bug upgrades so players are not penalized for using bugs they don’t want to use.

Additionally, I wanted to provide swarm wide upgrades as part of the general tree, without needing to unlock additional bugs. This way you will not be penalized while using selective breeding for needing general upgrades.

New



Added a new Buggo statistic panel in the evolution chamber that allows you to see the base Buggos statistics when you mouse over their evolution. This shows the damage, armor, move speed, etc. Additionally, you can now see the nutrient cost of each Buggo and the spawn weighting.

Added the ability to change your games difficulty from the settings menu.

General Balance Updates:
Nerfed the Humans max unit counts by:

  • 20% for Impossible difficulty.
  • 30% for Standard and Hard difficulty.
  • 40% for Easy difficulty.
  • 50% for Relaxed difficulty.



  • Updated a few maps in Area 7 to provide more room and protection for the initial starting area.
  • Updated Robot testing facility to give more room and protection for the initial starting area.
  • Updated Communications relay to give more room and protection for the initial starting area.
  • Many new players think that more hives means you gain more nutrients while this was not the case. Give the player what they expect! Each hive will increase your nutrients gained by +5 per cycle.
  • Updated the Golden Swarmers spawn chance from 1% to 5% and increased their health by +10
  • Removed the selective breeding penalty for easy and relaxed difficulty.


Bug Fixes:


  • Fixed Titan’s population not showing up on the bug population tooltip.
  • Fixed a bug where the population / capacity info doesn’t update when nothing is spawning.
  • Fixed a bug where the tooltip would display in the main menu when changing scenes.
  • Fixed a bug on final military compound where it had a survival objective.

Buggos Multi-Language Support

Buggos Multi-Language Support



Buggos can now be played in multiple languages! Today we are releasing Czech, with plans for German and French coming as soon as they are ready. This took quite a lot of effort, and I would like to thank our volunteer translators for working so hard to make this happen. Buggos will detect your default language using steam, however you can choose your language preference within the settings menu.
In the future I would also like to get Simple Chinese working for Buggos, so expect that to come some time down the line.

Additionally there are a few updates and changes to the way Buggos saves your game. If you have any issues with your save file, feel free to hop into the discord and I will personally fix it.

  • Update: Dropships in area 7+ now have a maximum number of units they can spawn. (this will make these levels easier, and improve performance)

Balance Pass:

Some players are having difficulty defeating flamers and find the experience to be less than fun. Flamer fire duration is now based on difficulty level which will allow you to opt-in to the pain.

Base flame duration: 4 seconds

New flame duration:

  • Relaxed mode: .5 seconds
  • Easy mode: 1 second
  • Standard mode: 2 seconds
  • Hard mode: 3 seconds
  • Impossible mode: 4 seconds


Flamer Health reduced from 10 -> 8

Repair robots could rebuild dropships which have 10,000 health. Players felt bad having something that took so long to kill come back instantly if a single robot got through their defenses. Now they will only be able to do so in hard mode and impossible mode.
