Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

CODMAS Comes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone

Celebrate Early with CODMAS

Let the festivities begin early with the upcoming CODMAS event! This year, the Halloween spirit has bled over into the winter holidays with the appearance of Santa Gnaws, here to spread horror and fear to the Operators of Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III and Call of Duty:Warzone™. Battle the abomination and celebrate the season of giving with new holiday-themed maps, modes, challenges, and rewards.

The CODMAS event takes place from December 19 at 10AM PT to January 3 at 8AM PT, and includes a limited time event challenge alongside special in-game activities and map updates across Multiplayer, Zombies, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Santa’s Slayground (Multiplayer, Zombies, Call of Duty: Warzone)

Season’s Eatings! Santa Gnaws is here to terrorize all who would disobey him. Prove your worth by completing up to eight challenges in the Santa’s Slayground in-game event to earn prizes more impressive than a lump of coal. Get rewards like consumable items and cosmetics such as the “Christmas Skulls” Calling Card, the “Elfsecution” Finishing Move, and the Weapon Blueprint/Operator Skin.

Play across new themed maps and modes as you complete the challenges in Multiplayer, Zombies, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Themed Maps and Limited Modes in Multiplayer

CODMAS brings two holiday-themed map reskins with Shipmas and Hangover, plus Infectious Holiday and Snowfight as a twist on two fan-favorite party modes.

Shipmas

Pack your ugly sweater and deploy to the frozen sea in this cold-weather version of Shipment. Keep your head on a swivel to avoid joining the other corpses in cold storage.

Hangover

Toast to the New Year in this winter-themed Highrise decked with lights, garlands, and festive flair. The battle takes place at night for a new gameplay experience, so bring your best and celebrate in the victory screen.

New Limited-Time Modes

Infectious Holiday: Play Infected in a lobby full of Santa Claus Operators. Infected players will transform into the Zombie Santa Skin. Combine cheerfulness with combat prowess to retain those rosy cheeks against the undead menace.

Snowfight: This Gunfight mode brings the epic snowball battle back. Go toe-to-toe against another team and try to come out on top. Interact with snowballs on the map to restock your arsenal. Guarantee a one-hit kill with the Golden Snowball -- a rare item that spawns in the center of the map once per round.

CODMAS in Modern Warfare Zombies

Encounter new seasonal enemy models and updated infil music and collect snowballs around the map, which can be used to launch deadly attacks.

Slay Ride Resurgence Comes to Call of Duty: Warzone

Play the limited-time Slay Ride Resurgence Playlist during the CODMAS event for the chance to earn high-quality loot by decorating trees and taking on Santa in an ambush on the seasonal train.

Slay Ride

Take the fight to Santa aboard the train traveling through Urzikstan. Succeed in toppling the king of Christmas to earn powerful in-game loot and an Emblem proving your prowess.

Deck the Halls

Deploy to one of six Deck the Halls tree-themed capture points marked on the Tac Map in Slay Ride Resurgence, and loot up with high-tier gear right at the start of the match. Standing near the tree with no opponents nearby will begin the festive decorating. The tree can be upgraded to Tier 2 or become fully decorated at Tier 3, improving the value of the loot.. The more decorated your tree, the better the weapons, Killstreaks, and in-game Cash you’ll earn in return.

Be on the lookout for other CODMAS related secrets around the map while completing these events.

New Year, New Event: Face the Vortex

Enter the flames of the Vortex to fight for cataclysmic rewards. In this event, players will progress through the 15 available rewards by playing in the Vortex-themed maps Tetanus, Satan’s Quarry, and Sporeyard.

Tetanus: In this otherworld version of Rust, Operators find themselves in an otherworldly desert during a planetary storm. Strips of neon-green light attached to the infrastructure enhance the sci-feel feel of the fight.

Satan’s Quarry: Enter this pit of fire and brimstone only if you dare. Huge chains piercing the skies signal a hellish destination in which only the bold stand the chance to survive.

Sporeyard: The iconic boneyard shows signs of fungal infestation as glowing blue flora spreads throughout the map, dispensed by the towering toadstools surrounding the borders.

The Vortex event begins on January 3 following CODMAS and ends on January 17.

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III Season 1 Free Access

For a limited time until December 18th, play Multiplayer and the all-new Modern Warfare® Zombies in Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare III for FREE.
Dive into the Multiplayer of Call of Duty and check out the brand-new 6v6 map Meat, along with five more 6v6 maps such as Terminal, Highrise, and Shipment – playable across four fan-favorite modes. Plus, the free access offering includes Modern Warfare Zombies, Ground War, and the return of War Mode. So no matter your preferred playstyle, there is always mayhem to be made.

Explore the accessibility options that launched with MWIII

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III features many accessibility options for players to customize their experience, no matter the mode they jump into. Familiar options return, such as controller customizations, and graphical adjustments like reducing world and weapon motion blur; Modern Warfare III also introduces a new slate of accessibility options for players to explore.

SETTINGS MENU UPDATE

In Modern Warfare III, players can preview changes made in-game before saving global settings. Settings are now tagged to better identify specific features, such as tags for settings related to motor, vision, audio, and cognitive adjustments that can be made. These tags may also be filtered, so they are easier to find.

Major updates to controller settings in Modern Warfare III provide more detail for players looking to customize their inputs. These changes are also better reflected in the menu to give our community a visual preview of how these changes will impact on their controls. For example, the deadzone inputs menu now highlights an approximation of how left and right thumb sticks will react to tweaking with a visual preview of any adjustments made.

With deadzone input tweaks, Call of Duty fans – including any within the community with motor disabilities – may fine tune how much motor effort and control they have. This assists anyone with limitations in hand movement with more options for a comfortable experience.

Over 40% of players customized Deadzone Inputs in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. By providing a visual representation of changes within the Settings Menu for Modern Warfare III, the aim is to provide more feedback for players looking to tweak their experience.

HIGH CONTRAST

Turning on high contrast mode will enable players with vision impairment or color blindness to see their allies and enemies more clearly. This mode outlines allies in blue-green and enemies in red and adjusts in real-time.

In Modern Warfare II, over half of our players adjusted graphical accessibility settings such as Motion Blur, Field of View, or Camera Movement. Modern Warfare III provides even more ways to customize the visual experience for all players. High contrast mode is available in campaign mode only.

NEW ACCESSIBILITY PRESENT – MOTOR

Modern Warfare III offers a new accessibility preset called “Low Motor Strain” to reduce the physical effort required when playing. When players turn this preset on, fewer button presses or holds are required, and sensitivity is increased.

This preset joins existing presets which include simplified controls, audio/visual support, visual support, and motion reduction), making it faster for anyone who needs accessibility features to jump into the game.

We cannot wait for you to jump in and check out what’s new on the accessibility front.

Four New Maps: 6v6 and 2v2

After the arrival of the Carry Forward Core maps, Season 1 expands the Multiplayer map offering with three brand-new 6v6 maps and one 2v2 arena.

Meat (6v6, Core, Launch)

Deploy to the West Coast for some fast-paced butchery, in a compact map centered around the East Bay Meats slaughterhouse. Make use of the new Tac-Stance ability to combine agility with accuracy while weaving through the small confines of the meat locker and processing center. For longer sightlines, stick to the outer loading dock and entrance.

Greece (6v6, Core, Launch)

Test your mettle in a once-idyllic coastal town, where waters at the shore lap at the hull of a burning yacht, signaling disaster. Navigate the city center of this medium-sized map where narrow alleys cut between the lines of shops. Dive into the canal or the sea when you need to reposition and use the copious vantage points that are available to get above your enemies.

Rio (6v6, Core, In-Season)

Take in the vibrant colors of Rio de Janeiro as you battle across an upscale shopping center. Face enemies in tight quarters throughout the mall or move through the vibrant exterior streets in this small- to medium-sized map. Look for vantage points in the covered walkway, over the garage, and on top of vehicles. Spacing is tight, so be ready to engage.

Training Facility (2v2, Gunfight, Launch)

Challenge another duo within the remains of an old warehouse, now repurposed as part of Konni Group’s training facilities. Perch on the second level for a greater view of the area or move through the interior spaces to ambush your enemies. The central shoot house offers plentiful climbing opportunities; use your enhanced abilities to achieve the best angles for the weapons provided in the round.

Gunfight Returns for MWIII, Other Modes Confirmed

Gunfight returns to Call of Duty, pitting two teams of two against one another in a round-based match. There are no respawns, and all players are assigned the same randomized Loadout at the start of each round.

The assigned Loadout changes every two rounds, and you never know what you’ll get; you may be trading shots with Battle Rifles one round and then rushing in with Shotguns the next. In other words, take what you’re given and make it worse.

Each round lasts 40 seconds, in which teams attempt to eliminate the other side. If time runs out and both teams are still alive, an Overtime Flag will spawn on the map for 10 seconds. The first team to capture the flag or eliminate the enemy team wins the round. If neither team wins during Overtime, the team with the most health wins.

The first team to win six rounds wins the match.

Five Gunfight maps at launch: Season 1 brings the new Training Facility map along with four Carry Forward Gunfight maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II: Alley, Blacksite, Exhibit, and Shipment.

Game Mode: All or Nothing (Launch)

All or Nothing: Deploy with Throwing Knives and no ammo. Get one elimination to activate the Scavenger Perk, allowing you to retrieve ammo pickups for your weapon. The first to land 20 eliminations wins.

Multiplayer: More at the Mid-Season

Expect additional Modes to launch throughout the season, including fan-favorite and holiday-themed variants:

Vortex (LTM, Mid-Season)

In this free-for-all mode, one player spawns in with the infamous Zombies Wonder Weapon, the one-shot Ray Gun. Whoever eliminates the Operator with the Ray Gun becomes the new owner of this powerful and otherworldly pistol. Vortex takes place on three remixed Multiplayer maps: Satan’s Quarry, Sporeyard, and Tetanus.

CODMAS: Santa’s Slayground (LTM, Mid-Season)

Season's Eatings! Santa Gnaws is here to spread horror and fear. Complete Event Challenges to earn rewards and visit classic, holiday-themed maps, including Shipmas and Hangover! Just try not to get bitten. Expect more information on this Event and additional Limited Time Modes closer to Mid-Season.

Infected (Mid-Season)

One player is chosen at random to spawn in as the infected. Their goal is to eliminate the other survivors, while those not infected must use all the skill and firepower they’ve amassed to keep their humanity intact.

Headquarters (Mid-Season)

Fight to secure the Headquarters location and then hold that position for as long as you can; respawns are disabled for the defending team. The Headquarters slowly rotates around the map as the match continues, so be ready to move.

Team Gunfight (Mid-Season)

In this 6v6 version of Gunfight, played on standard Multiplayer maps, players all receive the same randomized Loadout at the start of each round. This Loadout changes throughout the match; the team that best adapts to the assigned gear is bound to land the eliminations needed to earn victory.

New Vest (Perks, Launch)

Select your Loadout and you’ll find an additional Vest to utilize across all MWIII Multiplayer modes:

Assassin Vest (Stealthy Killer)

Equipment Slots (2): Tactical, Lethal (Field Upgrade removed)

Gear Slots (3): Gloves, Boots, Gear

Kills don’t display skulls. Immune to UAV and enemy radar effects (including while stationary). Duplicate effects do not stack. If equipped with Ghost T/V Camo, (Gear), you gain the effects of Hijacked IFF Strobe (Gear).

New Killstreaks (Launch)

Expect to unlock two new Multiplayer Killstreaks, available at the start of the season once you’ve unlocked each via an Armory Challenge:
  • Swarm (15 Kills, 1,875 Points): Deploys a large number of mosquito drones to provide blanket coverage over the entire area.
  • EMP (13 Kills, 1,625 Points): Electromagnetic pulse to disrupt enemy Killstreaks and equipment.

Let’s Go! Ranked Play Launches (Mid-Season)

Presented by Treyarch in partnership with Sledgehammer Games, Multiplayer Ranked Play launches mid-season and builds upon the foundation established in Modern Warfare II with new rewards to earn and updated Modern Warfare III maps, weapons, and Loadout content.

Ranked Play is a feature-packed, stand-alone competitive Multiplayer mode that leverages the Call of Duty® League approved rules, restrictions, maps, and modes. Track your standing with a visible skill rating and earn rewards across multiple Skill Divisions and Tiers. The best of the best will be featured in the Top 250 Leaderboard and Division for the chance to prove themselves as the number one player. Look for further information, including the rewards for ranking up, in the following weeks.
