Season 03 Reloaded: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0
Incoming: Season 03 Reloaded Midseason Update
Los Vaqueros and the Las Almas Cartel not only rebuild — they also reload.
Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare ® II and Call of Duty®: Warzone™ 2.0 continue Season 03 with a Reloaded midseason update, packed with much-anticipated new experiences such as the debut of Warzone™ 2.0 Ranked Play, the return of a classic tactical Multiplayer mode in Faceoff, and another high-stakes exclusion zone for DMZ hidden somewhere in Al Mazrah…
Oh, and did we mention we have the real MVP as a new Operator?
Expect patch notes prior to the launch of Season 03 Reloaded with further details on all changes. Patch Note updates can be found here.
MODERN WARFARE II OVERVIEW
• Raid Episode 03. Follow Price, Farah, and Alex as they push deeper into the Soviet base in pursuit of Hadir and a missing armament. • Special Ops Mission: Defender — Hafid Port. Defend against increasingly challenging waves of enemies in Al Mazrah’s Hafid Port. • Alboran Hatchery 6v6 MP Map. A medium-sized core map experience set on a remote, windswept facility. • Giant Infection, 3v3 Faceoff. Experience Infected on a massive scale and engage in small team skirmishes with the return of Faceoff.
The Threat Moves Underground in Special Ops Raid Episode 03
After tracking down Alex, Gaz breaks off to establish comms with Laswell and provide exfil. Now Price, Farah, and Alex must push deeper into the Soviet base, descending into a massive pit where they will navigate old train tunnels and electrically charged waters. With Hadir and the missing warhead still on the loose, every minute counts.
Complete Raid Episode 03 to unlock Alex as an Operator, who can be used across Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 online modes. Earn a unique electrified camo by completing Raid Episode 03 on Veteran difficulty. Found in a classified area, another unique weapon camo can be earned during Raid Episode 03.
Special Ops Mission: Defender Comes to Hafid Port
Deploy to Hafid Port in Al Mazrah and take on the cartel’s new operation. It won’t be an easy task: Once you’ve eliminated their first line of defense, you’ll need to dig in and defend against multiple waves of increasingly challenging enemy forces.
Bolster your defenses by visiting the Shop to purchase power-ups like AI Reinforcements, Killstreaks, and the Self-Revive Kit.
Get rewarded with Special Ops Stars for your efforts, which can help level up those Kits and otherwise unlock exclusive items.
New Core Multiplayer Map: Alboran Hatchery
Prepare to drop into Alboran Hatchery, a new 6v6 Multiplayer map set on rolling green hills beneath towering wind farm turbines. Navigate in and around the hatchery’s storage and warehouse facilities in this medium-sized map, utilizing large cover objects to conduct stealth operations around the map, or climb to upper vantage points for a view of the surrounding area. Balance your exposure with intel-gathering, with the best teams combining these tactics for a highly coordinated fight.
Deploy to Alboran Hatchery in featured Playlists throughout Season 03 Reloaded, as well as in the Quick Play map pool. Keep an eye on the Call of Duty blog for the upcoming Alboran Hatchery map guide.
Giant Infection, Faceoff
Take Infected to a new level on bigger maps with more players or get ultra-tactical with the debut of 3v3 Faceoff in Modern Warfare II.
Giant Infection
Team up with other survivors against the Infected on larger Battle Maps supporting a greater number of players. As more survivors fall to the horde, you’ll need every bit of firepower to keep from being turned yourself.
If and when you are . . . then let the hunger consume you and cull the living.
Faceoff (3v3)
In 2011, Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 made a dedicated Multiplayer mode that captured those small-team Cage Match experiences of Rust and Shipment: Faceoff.
Twelve years later, Infinity Ward dug into their history to bring back Faceoff as the ultimate compliment to Gunfight. Want to use your own Loadouts and play modes like Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed on Gunfight maps? Then join the Call of Duty veterans who fondly remember Faceoff and celebrate its return with Reloaded.
Expect Faceoff to include all current Gunfight maps, as well as new Gunfight maps once they are released in later seasons.
WARZONE 2.0 OVERVIEW
• Up Your Game with New Features. The midseason update expands your tactical options with Perk Packages plus the Deployable Buy Station and Gulag Entry Kit. • New DMZ Experience. Take the high risk and earn valuable rewards by entering the Koschei Complex. We hope you’re not afraid of the dark. • Warzone Ranked Play. Push your skills to the limit in Warzone Ranked Play, featuring competitive settings, a progressive ranking system, and seasonal rewards.
New Features Expand Tactical Opportunities
Battle Royale Operators will have even more tools at their disposal for survival:
Perk Packages: Discover preset Perk Packages in Supply Boxes and at Buy Stations. These offer vital passive benefits for Warzone Operators who have not yet called in their Loadout Drop. Ideal for getting a leg up in the early minutes of the match.
Deployable Buy Station: In critical need of supplies? The Deployable Buy Station has your back. Set it up and resupply without losing your position. This is also available in DMZ.
Gulag Entry Kit: Already fought your way out of the Gulag once? Get your hands on a Gulag Entry Kit for another chance at earning your way back into the match when eliminated.
Go Dark in the New In-Season DMZ Experience: Koschei Complex
“Bravo-6, going dark.” — Captain John Price, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Somewhere in Al Mazrah, an underground Koschei Complex is brewing something that could shift the entire DMZ as we know it.
Operators must find a way to locate one of multiple entrances to this subterranean bunker complex , open it . . . and [[REDACTED]]. Be proactive in adding illumination to your hardware; flashlights might be needed as you venture further into this [[REDACTED]]. Secure NVGs once you’ve reconnoitered the [[REDACTED]], expecting some of the toughest [[REDACTED]] outside of Building 21!
No further intel can be declassified; it will be up to you to discover the Koschei Complex for yourselves once this underground facility is accessible, during Season 03 Reloaded.
Show What You’re Made of in Warzone Ranked Play (BETA)
On the heels of Multiplayer Ranked Play in Modern Warfare II comes Warzone Ranked Play (BETA), an experience featuring competitive settings, a progressive rank system, a visual skill system, and seasonal rewards, all in the epic Battle Royale setting. This will launch in Season 03 Reloaded in its Beta before it launches in full force in a future season.
Start from Bronze and continue climbing the ranks through winning matches, getting high placements, and earning eliminations through a Skill Rating system tailored for a Battle Royale ranked mode:
• Bronze: 0–899 SR • Silver: 900–2,099 SR • Gold: 2,100–3,599 SR • Platinum: 3,600–5,399 SR • Diamond: 5,400–7,499 SR • Crimson: 7,500–9,999 SR • Iridescent: 10,000 SR minimum • Top 250: 10,000+ SR (see below)
Your Skill Rating is based on your match performance. Get assists and eliminations, and place high within the match to increase your SR. Entering a match requires a modest SR entry free; see the end-of-match SR summary for a rundown of your SR adjustments. The best of the best will be featured in the Top 250 Skill Division, as well as on a public leaderboard for all to see.
More intel will drop on this new experience tomorrow on May 4, but note that Modern Warfare II Multiplayer Ranked Play and Warzone Ranked Play are separate systems with their own Rank progression.
Reminder: Plunder is Back in Warzone 2.0
If you haven’t already dropped into this mode when it debuted during Season 03, Week 2 of Season 03 Reloaded is a great time to grab that cash and play Plunder, which originally launched with Call of Duty: Warzone.
Plunder turns up the heat on the traditional Battle Royale formula by enabling respawns and allowing Operators to use their Loadouts right from the start.
Work with your squad to raid Cash Registers, complete contracts, and eliminate enemy Operators to earn as much Cash as possible before time runs out. With multiple ways to spend your Cash to improve your arsenal, you’ll have to make the hard decision: Do you spend, or do you bank? Find out more about this mode with this overview here.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
• Earn Season 03 Weapon Camos. Complete challenges to get not one, but two new Weapon Camos for every weapon category in the game. • Two New Secondary Weapons, and one sharp projectile. Unload on your enemies with two new Handguns launching with the midseason update. Both are fully automatic for the ultimate close-quarters protection. Plus, the Throwing Star becomes a Lethal part of your arsenal. • The Reaper Comes to Call of Duty. Arguably a G.O.A.T. at his own game, #35, KD — Kevin Durant — is dropping in to take over ours.
Season 03 Reloaded Trophy Hunt Camo Challenges
Like the last Reloaded update, Season 03 Reloaded will include a new event where players can unlock two new sets of weapon camouflage.
Complete one weapon category challenge to unlock a new camouflage for every weapon in that category. Complete all ten to earn another new camo for every weapon category, plus a special Weapon Charm that shows you mastered the Reloaded Trophy Hunt.
Here are all the challenges for this event:
• Assault Rifles: Get 250 Operator Kills • Battle Rifles: Get 30 Headshot Operator Kills • SMGs: Get 3 Operator Kills Without Dying 30 times • Shotguns - Get 30 Hipfire Operator Kills • LMGs: Get 50 Operator Kills While Mounted • Marksman Rifles: Get 25 Longshot Operator Kills • Sniper Rifles - Get 30 Longshot Operator Kills • Sidearms: Get 50 Operator Kills • Launcher - Get 40 Operator Kills • Melee - Get 30 Operator Kills from Behind
If those challenges look familiar, you may want to look back at those standard weapon camo challenges and see where you can hit a collateral shot in knocking out multiple challenges at once…
Happy camo hunting!
New Weapons: FTAC Siege Handgun, GS Magna Handgun, Throwing Star (Lethal)
Season 03 Reloaded is bringing not one but two fully automatic Handguns with the highly customizable FTAC Siege and the high-caliber GS Magna. Plus, the Throwing Star becomes a Lethal part of your arsenal.
FTAC Siege
“Designed to be compact and maneuverable, this SMG has a jaw-dropping fire rate and rapid swap speed. A trusted secondary for up-close engagements.”
The FTAC Siege is a highly customizable, fully automatic machine pistol with a full suite of exciting new attachments. While it cannot be dual wielded like other sidearms (yet...), its gunsmithing options include drum magazines, numerous barrels that can either extend range or grant better mobility, SMG grade stocks, and an assortment of muzzles borrowed from the deep SMG pool of attachments.
Although it cannot be a true substitute to a Primary SMG, this fast-firing Secondary is a boon in close-quarters situations and can push the limits of a sidearm’s range.
How to unlock: Weapon Challenge — Get 50 Sidearm Hipfire Operator Kills using Handguns— or via Store Bundle.
GS Magna
“This fully automatic .50 GS boasts a thunderous rate of fire and enough power to put an end to anyone foolish enough to cross your path. Hold down the trigger and let this .50 Cal speak for itself.”
If the X13 Auto is good for mobility and the FTAC Siege’s strength is in versatility, this sidearm is built for raw power. This weapon uses the exact same cartridge and most attachments as the semi-automatic .50 GS, including the ability to go akimbo and absolutely pulverize enemies at close-range.
Be careful what you wish for, however: this great power comes with the responsibility of managing some incredibly high recoil. However, the Operators who can tame this beast of a sidearm will be handsomely rewarded with a secondary that can easily compete at extreme-close ranges.
How to unlock: Weapon Challenge — Get 30 Headshot Operator Kills using the .50 GS — or via Store Bundle.
Throwing Star
Players got a taste of the Throwing Star on Resurgence during Season 02. Now this Lethal offhand armament is available for all players, all the time. Faster, with a longer range and a higher stock than the Throwing Knife, the Throwing Star requires a quick doubletap to kill, or one well-placed star to the head. Victims also receive a wounding effect on all non-lethal impacts, giving a greater chance of success on a follow up hit. The perfect complement to a stealth loadout.
How to unlock: Weapon Challenge — Get 50 kills using a Throwing Knife.
Easy Money Sniper, Kevin Durant, Reports for Duty
“I like the challenge of trying to be in the moment. It’s not easy. We’re all built to want to look back or speed life up. But I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about the future. It takes you away from the moment you’re in.” — Kevin Durant, 2015
His next chapter is here.
Kevin Durant — one of basketball’s greatest players of all time, whose MVP-caliber career continues into this year’s playoffs — will be immortalized in the 20-year Call of Duty franchise’s history as an official Operator.
Fit for a man who defined his own franchise IRL, KD will be available in a special, limited-time Store Bundle to be released with Season 03 Reloaded.
In addition to his Operator, the Bundle includes two Weapon Blueprints that reference his iconic nicknames: the “Reap This” AR Blueprint and the “Easy Money” Sniper Blueprint. Both Blueprints are built for the all-around Operator, just like how KD built himself up to be deadly all over the hardwood.
The Bundle also includes the “Deadly from Downtown” Finishing Move, the “B-Ball” Weapon Charm, the “Ankle-Breaker” Loading Screen, the “Hoops” Sticker, and the “KD Baller” Animated Emblem.
Throwback Pack: ’09 Weapon Audio Bundle
The ultimate taste of nostalgia is coming with Season 03 Reloaded.
The Throwback Pack: ’09 Weapon Audio Bundle will take you back to the O.G. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009), with two Weapon Blueprints — the “Good ’Ol Days” Assault Rifle and the “Lachmann Classic” SMG — complete with familiar attachments and retro-fitted audio from that Call of Duty era.
Need to reminisce some more? Use the “Classic Soap” Operator Skin, slap on the “Hacked” Emblem (the legit way this time), or look at some of the other included items to get that full taste of all-nighter, sugary-soda and cheesy-snack filled game sessions from the days of yore.
VII: Wrath
One of the other bundles worth highlighting is the latest installment in the VII series: VII: Wrath.
Rather than chuck that controller at the screen, direct that adrenaline into a bit of “Anger Management” — a new Weapon Blueprint for an LMG that complements the “Ire” Weapon Blueprint, also included in this Bundle, in an Overkill Loadout.
Become wrath personified with the “The Vengeful” Operator Skin for Ronin, and consider putting on the Charm, Sticker, and Emblem across your weapon or player profile to truly intimidate your opponents.
Expect more Bundles to drop during Season 03 Reloaded, including two that have been highly requested as a dream come true for some of our community’s finest…

For this campaign and the video, War Hippies recorded a new version of their breakout independent hit song “The Hangman” with modified lyrics dedicated to the “Loot for Good” campaign.
We tip our hat to War Hippies, who are helping the Call of Duty Endowment in their mission to put veterans in meaningful jobs and careers. Recruit a Friend and Earn Rewards Together in Season 03
There’s nothing like having a trusted Operator at your back, especially when deploying across Call of Duty®: Warzone™ 2.0.
Arriving with the launch of Season 03 and lasting through the length of the season, the new Recruit a Friend feature allows you to earn unique in-game rewards by inviting new friends to play Warzone™ 2.0.
Invite up to three Recruits, form your squad, complete some challenges, earn rewards and — most importantly — drop in together.
Recruit a Friend: How It Works
At the start of Season 03, look for an in-game Message of the Day that has a QR code for the Recruit a Friend website, or visit it directly by clicking here.
From here, Recruiters can join the program to gain access to the Recruiter dashboard and receive a unique code to send to their friends, enlisting up to three eligible Recruits.
Eligibility Requirements
• Recruiters must have an Activision account that is older than 60 days with at least three hours of gameplay logged on Warzone 2.0. • Recruits must have an Activision account less than seven days old or they must not have played Warzone 2.0 in over 60 days. The following countries are ineligible to participate: Austria, Argentina, New Zealand, Belgium, Peru, Czech Republic, Norway, Ireland, the Philippines, and Poland.
Players who do not have a valid Activision account can create a free one to participate in the program.
Play Together, Earn Rewards

Season 03 New Player Guide
Welcome to Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II and Call of Duty®: Warzone™ 2.0.
With Season 03 dropping yesterday, we know there are a lot of places to start — or restart — your journey into the Modern Warfare® II universe. Pick up the full game to get access to all modes, as well as the ability to unlock over a dozen Operators and more. Here’s the Call of Duty 101 guide on diving into Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0, designed to help you focus on the new content, improve your game, and have fun.
First-Time Player Quick Guide
In addition to following all in-game tutorials, here is where new players should start across both games:
Warzone 2.0: Free-to-Play Starting Points
The Plan: We highly recommend playing Resurgence modes, as being able to respawn during the match allows for some flexibility especially when playing with squadmates.
However, if you are familiar with Battle Royale games, Warzone 2.0 Season 03 also has a traditional experience. Regardless of what mode you choose, an in-game tutorial is available to help guide you through the first few matches.
Tip: AI Combatant Takedowns: During these matches, we recommend finding and eliminating AI Combatants if they are in your chosen game mode, especially those AI at Strongholds or as part of the Data Heist event on Ashika Island (an in-game alert will notify you of this). Eliminating these foes is often easier than eliminating fellow Operators and offers a good amount of XP. Plus, Strongholds give out powerful items upon clearing them, which can be helpful for getting far during a Battle Royale match.
Once you complete a few matches (and level up to Rank 4 if you’re a brand-new player), start building a Loadout, which you’ll receive from a Loadout Drop or a Buy Station (in the form of your Loadout’s Primary Weapon) during a match. Take time to customize your weapon within the Weapons Menu prior to dropping into a match, and come back regularly to see what new items are unlocked (as you rank up, or level up your weapon and unlock more attachments). You can also head to the Store or check the Battle Pass to see what custom configurations — known as Weapon Blueprints — can be purchased, especially the Pro-Tuned Weapon Blueprints, which are built to perform to three labeled strengths right out of the box.
The Other Plan: Alternatively, you can start your journey in DMZ, an extraction game mode built for players who love taking a bit of risk to get some incredible rewards. You can read more about this mode here.
Modern Warfare II: The Best Way to Dive into Call of Duty
If you own Modern Warfare II, there are some great options for you to get used to becoming an Operator and saving the world:
Campaign is arguably the best place for new players to start across all modes. With adjustable difficulty, tons of AI Combatants to get you up to speed on typical combat pacing, the introduction of Modern Warfare II’s main story, and unlockable items such as Operators and a special Weapon Blueprint, this single-player mode is a great way to spend a few nights or a weekend until you feel confident enough to use those rewards in other modes.
Special Ops is another great choice, given that it is a co-op mode where you can play with friends against AI Combatants. Whether it is leveling up Kits by earning Special Ops Stars in missions or continuing the epic Modern Warfare II story in Raids, Special Ops is a great way to continue training your aim and earning some awesome rewards to use in this mode and others across Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
Multiplayer is the most popular mode choice in Modern Warfare II, with numerous maps and game modes to play, ranging from tactical Ranked Play to massive team battles in Ground War and Invasion. We highly recommend playing the following Multiplayer modes for your first time out:
- Invasion: A mix of enemy Operators and AI Combatants make this mode incredible for newcomers. - Team Deathmatch: A no-frills, no-holds-barred Deathmatch is a great stepping-stone into player-versus-player combat. - Domination: More of an objective player? Domination is considered one of the easiest to understand, with three main objectives to achieve during a match. Try capturing two instead of all three for your team to set up a proper defensive position! - Ground War: Once you get comfortable with player-versus-player combat and objective play, jump into Ground War. Feel free to use vehicles to maximize your mobility and elimination potential.
PRO TIP: Don’t have anyone online to play Special Ops, Multiplayer, DMZ, or Battle Royale with you? Use the Find a Party feature, where you can find fellow Operators through in-game communication methods (e.g., Text Chat Only), translated into over a dozen main languages, including every language that this blog is translated into!
How to Use New Weapons and Get the New Battle Pass
One of the main updates for each season is its Battle Pass, which offers free content unlocked by playing the game, as well as the ability to upgrade to unlock all 20+ sectors of items like Weapon Blueprints, Operator Skins, and more.
You can see the Battle Pass in any main menu, usually next to the Events and Store tabs. Set your progress to either automatic (recommended for new players) or manual unlocks. You can also purchase the full Battle Pass or get BlackCell, an offering with incredible value, exclusive items, and free Battle Token Tier Skips. Learn more about these here.
In addition to Weapon Blueprints, Operator Skins, War Track packs for jamming out in vehicles, and more, each Battle Pass contains free functional weapons. For Season 03, you can unlock a brand-new Battle Rifle in the Cronen Squall and an FJX Imperium Sniper Rifle.
Tip: Need a great general-purpose variant for each new Season 03 weapon? Then unlock the Weapon Blueprints mentioned below as you complete the Battle Pass.
The Cronen Squall is unlockable in Sector C11 (15 Battle Token Tier Skips to unlock this weapon from the standard starting position), while the FJX Imperium is unlockable in Sector C4 (minimum 20 Battle Token Tier Skips to unlock). Once these weapons are unlocked, you can customize them like you would with nearly any other weapon in the game, although we do have some recommended builds for new players:
Weapon Detail: Cronen Squall
Weapon Blueprint: “La Espina” (Victory or 100% Completion Sector in Battle Pass)
This is Valeria’s personal Blueprint of the new Battle Rifle, built to be an all-around powerhouse. Battle Rifles have a fire select toggle, making it possible to go full-auto for close-range scenarios; you can then dial it back to semi-auto for precise headshots at longer ranges.
Precision is absolutely key for this weapon, as it gives a high headshot damage multiplier that considerably reduces your time to kill (TTK). Be sure to aim down sight to line up accurate shots, using long lines of sight and ample lower-body cover for the best shot at success.
Cronen Squall Full Loadout Recommendation
Secondary: KV Broadside (Shotgun)
Perk Package: Overkill, Double Time, Spotter, Survivor
Equipment: Frag Grenade, Flash Grenade
Field Upgrade (If Applicable): Munitions Box
A well-rounded weapon could find a place in a well-rounded Loadout, especially if there is a Shotgun like the KV Broadside around, which you can unlock by completing a simple weapon challenge. The Broadside can handle those extremely close-range situations, allowing you to focus the Cronen Squall on targets down range.
You need Overkill to make this weapon combination possible. The other Basic Perk we recommend is Double Time for better movement speed. Spotter is great for scouting the path ahead to ensure you or a teammate does not run into trip mines, while Survivor gives you an extra chance at life if you go down.
The Equipment and Field Upgrades are the definitions of utility: a Frag Grenade can hurt one or more Operators or damage enemy vehicles or equipment, while the Flash Grenade can blind and disorient enemies, increasing the chances of you winning an engagement with them. As for the Munitions Box, it will help you restock on ammo whenever it is available and will give you some serious team cred since it can also resupply squadmates.
Weapon Detail: FJX Imperium
Weapon Blueprint: “Dead Center” (Sector C17 In Battle Pass)
Since its first version in Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 (2009), the FJX Imperium is a mythical Sniper Rifle that rewards accurate Operators with lightning-quick elimination potential. The weapon’s recommended attachment setup is built for more traditional sniping roles, as it kits the FJX Imperium for steadiness when aiming down sight and phenomenal accuracy at longer ranges.
If you have the hand-eye coordination, try “quickscoping” with this weapon, aiming down sight just enough to see a target down range, then firing and scoping back out. This allows for high mobility before or during engagements, which is ideal for an aggressive style of play.
Whether you need a fast way to move around the map or a blink-and-they-miss-it fisticuffs melee option, the Combat Knife is a formidable combination with the FJX Imperium. A Sidearm is also great for those not ready to play around with melee options — we especially recommend the automatic X13 Sidearm (or one of the two new ones coming at mid-season) for this job.
The Perk Package, Equipment, and Field Upgrade recommendations are all built for a traditional sniper playstyle. Bomb Squad and Battle Hardened are great Perks due to their protection against enemy equipment, and Focus allows you to aim while holding your breath longer, which is ideal for making long-range shots. Ghost rounds out the Package as an all-around great Ultimate Perk against enemy UAVs and other reconnaissance tools.
The Proximity Mine and Shock Stick are two great defensive equipment pieces that can cover your flank or make a high-traffic area tougher to navigate. Also, a quick pro tip: Both of these equipment pieces have special water properties…
As for the Tactical Camera, it is useful when placed in a high-traffic location. At the very least, it will warn you when enemy players are in its field of view, and at best, you can take a break from sniping and call out enemy positions by tapping into the camera remotely.
Mode Spotlight: Massive Resurgence
Imagine a regular Battle Royale match where the last squad (or solo) standing wins, then amplify it with the ability to get back into the game more often.
That is Massive Resurgence; for those unfamiliar with Resurgence rules, if a squad member is eliminated in a match, and one or more squad members are still alive, a countdown will appear beside their name. When this countdown hits zero, they will redeploy to the DZ. This countdown can be shortened by your squadmates if they perform specific in-game actions such as eliminating enemies, which incentivizes aggressive play. This countdown grows longer with each circle collapse until the final few circles — where all redeploys, save for those bought through a Buy Station — are disabled.
This is slightly different in Solo modes, where everyone gets a free second life, then has to scramble to refill their own countdown meter to survive.
Massive Resurgence Tips
1. Clocked Out. Resurgence is about making every second count. Earn eliminations, complete contracts, and scavenge for Supply Boxes to cut down the Resurgence Timer.
2. Play Smart, Not for Eliminations. For newer players especially, facing an enemy head-on with a SMG from 100 meters out is a recipe for disaster. Know what weapons you have to hand and consider not shooting on sight in favor of setting up a more favorable position for a tactical engagement.
3. Down, But Not Out. Go down in Resurgence? Most likely, you still have that chance to come back because of the Resurgence timer. Do not get discouraged on the first death – even the best players have one and go on to win, sometimes with incredibly high elimination counts. That’s all just a part of what makes Resurgence great.
If you’re starting Season 03 Modern Warfare II with a buddy, then the Multiplayer mode Gunfight is a great option to check out for a change of pace.
This 2v2 mode has you dueling against a fellow Duo on small maps with random Loadouts, so there is no need to worry about perfecting that Custom Loadout before dropping in. Each match is in a round-based format, so if you lose one round, your Duo can easily fight back in the next one.
Gunfight Tips
Here are some tried-and-true tips for Gunfight:
1. Operator of All Trades. Because Gunfight uses random Loadouts, it’s a great way to try the full suite of Modern Warfare II weaponry. If you like a weapon or two in Gunfight, throw them in your Loadouts or work toward them if they need to be unlocked. Plus, they will get some Weapon Level progress toward attachments due to your play in Gunfight!
2. Patience Means Victory. Duos often lose Gunfight rounds because they over-aggressively push toward their opponents. Play safe, lock down long sightlines, and communicate with your Duo about the other squad overcommitting, and you’ll be looking at some wins before you know it.
3. Play for Overtime. If a Gunfight round ends with neither team eliminated, a flag spawns in the center of the arena. Use it to your advantage; if the other Duo is out of position, capture the flag as soon as possible for the win. Alternatively, you can use the flag as “bait” to trap the opponent into standing out on the open objective for you to then finish the round.
As the newest experience inside Call of Duty, DMZ in Warzone 2.0 is recommended for all new players, especially those who love high-intensity, single-life games. Despite its ruleset being based on player risk — you lose any non-insured weapons and Keys if you die during an infiltration — DMZ offers a few new-player-friendly features, particularly the first few missions for each faction every season.
Initial Mission Planning: These first missions are easy to complete, they teach you how to play DMZ, and they offer a great amount of XP in addition to DMZ-specific rewards (Contraband Weapons and Keys) and permanent rewards like Weapon Blueprints. Combined with playing alongside more experienced players, who can help you through the dangerous DZs of Al Mazrah, Ashika Island, and Building 21, DMZ should be fun, especially in the first few infiltrations when you are guided by those starting missions.
Use These Features: Once you are in DMZ, take advantage of the new Persistent Operator feature to save your best-kitted Operators for tougher missions or planned extended infiltrations. Feel free to experiment with another Operator on your roster who won’t lose much if they get downed, and then stack all those valuable items and Contraband onto your fully armored Operator with Killstreaks and more at the ready.
Surviving and Thriving: Finally, winning in DMZ is about shifting your perspective. Simply surviving an infiltration and completing a Contract within the DZ grants you a Perk (or multiple, if you get an exfiltration streak going) that can be extremely helpful for the next infiltration and that can help you gather all the cool Contraband and items during the match. Consider yourself proficient in DMZ if you can survive and complete missions and/or contracts every other infiltration, because even the best DMZ players in the world cannot say they survived every infiltration.
Oh, and feel free to open that microphone or type in text chat within DMZ; the community here is full of people who want to help others complete missions, so say hello and send them an invite to join your party!
As part of Season 03, you may see an enemy drop a golden skull coin. This is known as a trophy, a key part of the limited-time Trophy Hunt event across Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
Trophy Hunt trophies, which again look like trophies, can be collected through the following modes:
- Modern Warfare II Multiplayer: Trophies drop from each unique player killed. Collect Trophies and finish the match to add them to your bank. - Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale / Resurgence / Plunder: Both enemy Operators and AI Combatants drop trophies. Trophies can also be found in loot. Trophies must be collected and secured at an Upload Station to add them to your bank. - Warzone 2.0 DMZ: Both enemy Operators and AI Combatants drop trophies when killed. Trophies must be collected and secured at an Upload Station, or extracted to add them to your bank. These trophies can then be exchanged for permanent prizes, including Weapon Blueprints, Calling Cards, and more.
You don’t need to collect all these items, but if you do, there are two awesome Operator Skins waiting for you. At least aim to get the two Weapon Blueprints — the “Nightsting” and the “Venom Strike” — as these are awesome, well-balanced weapon preconfigurations.
The limited-time Trophy Hunt event isn’t the only chance you have at earning some in-game rewards, because Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 are full of them. Here are four of our favorite ways to unlock free items in both games:
1. Calling Card Challenges. Located in the Challenge menu, Calling Card challenges reward you with cool graphics for your Player Profile and Showcase, all for doing in-game actions you would normally do to win matches. Tasks such as earning kills, earning headshots with certain weapons, collecting Cash in DMZ, or winning specific matches or challenges offer Calling Cards for your efforts. More Calling Card Challenges unlock once you hit certain Prestige Ranks (after Player Rank 55), so check back often to see what new challenges you can complete and to see your current progress!
2. Modern Warfare II Operators. You can unlock over a dozen Operators by owning Modern Warfare II and by completing a variety of challenges across all of its game modes. Check the Challenge menu to see how easy it can be to expand your Operator roster by completing specific Campaign missions, such as finishing the whole Campaign to unlock Hutch; finishing Special Ops missions; or performing tasks in Multiplayer.
3. DMZ Seasonal Mission Rewards. Every season of DMZ offers new rewards through mission completion across each faction, including the Modern Warfare II owner-exclusive Crown Faction. Weapon Blueprints, Operator Skins, Emblems, Calling Cards, and more can be yours by proving yourself in DMZ. Play with friends and get these rare rewards together!
4. Raid Episodes. Both Raid Episode 1 and 2 are available for Modern Warfare II owners, with a third one on the way at midseason. Completing these Raids unlocks a new Operator Skin for Gaz and Price (in Episode 1 and Episode 2, respectively), and there are even more rewards for completing it on a higher difficulty or figuring out some of the mission’s secrets…
5. Camo Challenges. In leveling up weapons, you unlock the ability to earn camouflages — coats of paint that can be applied to nearly every weapon in the game. Go into your Loadout and, while editing a weapon, see what Camo Challenges you can complete to unlock some new Camos. You may even be able to get a Gold Camo, a weapon-specific unlock that acts as a single proof of mastery of a weapon. And if you think you have what it takes to go for Platinum, Polyatomic, or the fabled Orion camouflage, read our Camo Challenge blog here before taking on this ultimate achievement quest.
Everything Else in Season 03
This intel drop has only scratched the surface: There’s a lot more content in Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 leading to countless other ways to play in Season 03.
In addition to two brand-new Multiplayer maps — the perilous Pelayo’s Lighthouse and the oilfield night infiltration known as Black Gold — and several feature updates across both games, you still have nearly everything to enjoy from launch, Season 01, and Season 02, including Special Ops Missions, Multiplayer Maps like Himmelmat Expo and Shipment, the built-for-Resurgence Ashika Island Warzone map, and more.
There is never a better time to dive into Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 than right now, so drop into all this action, and, as we always say around Task Force 141…

Battle Pass Update: Automatic Pathing
In addition to the BlackCell offering, the Battle Pass has an updated and streamlined way to unlock content through the addition of an Automatic Pathing feature.
Those who don’t mind what they earn first and who simply want to rack up hours in-game can choose to automatically have the Battle Pass chart an effective path through the different AO Sectors. Players can also choose to manually earn Battle Token Tier Skips and spend them as they did in prior seasons.
There is still the option to unlock Battle Pass sectors manually, and players can switch between Automatic and Manual pathing at any time during the season, which is great for those who don’t mind what other rewards they earn after they get their favorites.
Purchase the Battle Pass to Unlock Valeria and Alejandro
Though they once served together in the Mexican Special Forces, Valeria Garza and Alejandro Vargas are now adversaries. Valeria rose to become El Sin Nombre, leading the Las Almas Cartel, while Alejandro went on to become an important ally of the legendary Task Force 141.
Players who purchase the Season 03 Battle Pass can unlock the C0 Bonus Sector and gain immediate access to the default Skins for both Operators.
Alejandro: Born and raised in Las Almas, Alejandro spent over a decade as a high-ranking member of Los Fuerzeas Especiales, the Tier 1 Mexican Army Special Mission counterterror unit. His unit, Los Vaqueros, is the only one in the country authorized to work alongside international Special Operations Forces, including those at the CIA headed by station chief Kate Laswell.
Valeria: Valeria is a ruthless and cunning Operator who always remains calm under pressure. Whether she’s interrogating enemies or firing the first shot in a shoot-out, Valeria earns her cartel members’ loyalty every day through her incredible resolve and ability to plan ahead like a true criminal mastermind, all while recruiting more to her ranks with generous donations from the cartel’s coffers.
In addition to unlocking these two Operators, the Bonus Sector also awards the gilded “El Dorado” Weapon Blueprint, plus 150 COD Points and a 10% Battle Pass Boost.
New Weapon HVTs in Sectors C4, C11
Up your long-range game with two new free functional weapons located in the Season 03 area of operations: a new Sniper Rifle and Battle Rifle.
FJX Imperium Sniper Rifle — (Sector C4, HVT, Free)
Engineered destruction at its finest, this anti-personnel, bolt-action sniper rifle intervenes in tense situations with hard-hitting .408 rounds.
The FJX Imperium gives that classic Call of Duty® feel as a high-damage, bolt-action Sniper Rifle that’s absolutely deadly in the right hands. It also features a new attachment type for its weapon class with the carry handle, including a tactical and heavy version.
Regardless of how you build out the weapon, it’s quality over quantity with the FJX Imperium: with the lowest fire rate in its class and just five rounds per reload, you’ve got to make those shots count.
A bullpup, semi-automatic rifle chambered in 6.8 Wrath and designed for distance shooting and exceptional damage output.
With the best range and fire rate in its class, the Cronen Squall is a worthy contender across all modes. Among its other Gunsmith attachments, choose from six different ammo types for its powerful 6.8 rounds and up your reserves with two options for extended magazines, including a mighty 50-round drum attachment.
Keep an eye out for a variety of new Weapon Blueprints throughout the Season 03 Battle Pass, including highlights like the “Course Champion” Battle Rifle in Sector 01, the “La Araña” Assault Rifle in Sector 09, the “Dead Center” Sniper Rifle in Sector 17, and the “Viborón” Battle Rifle in Sector 18.
New HVT Operator Skins at Sectors C10, C15, C20
Season 03 comes packed with seven new Operator Skins in addition to the ones available for Valeria and Alejandro. Whether you’re dropping into the new Gunfight maps, Core maps, or Battle maps, these kits will ensure that you’re ready to compete and look good in the process.
“Road Rage” Farah Operator Skin (Sector C10, HVT)
Dressed in faded jeans, a tank top, and goggles stretched over a hooded shawl, Farah returns in her outfit from the Campaign mission “Violence and Timing.” You’ll need both to succeed in the deployments ahead.
“El Santo” Gus Operator Skin (Sector C15, HVT)
Gus ditches the tactical accessories for a flashier look, donning a scorpion-emblazoned red vest, a studded belt, gray slacks, and a holster.
“Nightwar” Ghost Operator Skin (Sector C20, HVT)
Alongside his iconic mask and sleek tactical gear, this Ghost Operator Skin comes equipped with night vision goggles, making him more than ready to deploy to the Black Gold Core Map, the first night map to launch in Multiplayer with Season 03.
Complete the Map for Victory Sector Rewards
Get 100% map completion by conquering all 20 Sectors. This gives you access to the final Victory Sector, which features the following items:
“El Sin Nombre” Valeria Operator Skin
El Sin Nombre — “the Nameless One” — is ready for business, and she’s more than willing to work outside the law. Sporting black leather pants, a gold chain, and face tattoos, this Operator Skin is sure to frighten off all but the most courageous enemies.
“La Espina” Battle Rifle Blueprint
Based on the new Battle Rifle releasing with Season 03, this red, black, and gold Weapon Blueprint fits perfectly in the hands of a cartel leader like El Sin Nombre. It features five attachments, including 6.8 Composite ammunition for improved handling and greater reserve ammo. Like the scorpions inlaid on its surface, this weapon stings.
“Vaquero” Alejandro Operator Skin
No matter the foe, Alejandro is always one step ahead. His military garb and climbing equipment ensure that he’s ready to deploy at a moment’s notice, tackling even the most difficult terrain if it means bringing his target to justice.
“Vaquero 141” Sniper Rifle Weapon Blueprint
Alejandro’s weapon of choice, the “Vaquero 141” Weapon Blueprint is named and stylized after the elite unit of the Mexican Special Forces led by him. It comes equipped with six attachments and is based on the new Sniper Rifle releasing with Season 03. With a weapon this strong in your hand, the cartels won’t stand a chance.
300 COD Points
Save up for the next Battle Pass or put them toward the purchase of a new Store Bundle.
Remember: If you have BlackCell, both Alejandro and Valeria get an additional Operator Skin at this Tier, and you get an additional 10 additional Operator Skins total, all exclusive to BlackCell, through completing the Battle Pass. More intel on BlackCell can be found here.
