Camp Canyonwood Launch Update (Version 1.0)!



After 4 years of development, with a year in Early Access working with the community, we're proud to launch our game child Camp Canyonwood out into the world! We've worked tirelessly with our QA team, our community, and our publisher to fix up and polish Camp Canyonwood into the best little camping sim it can be.

But enough talk, we'll let our changes speak for themselves. Check out the full list below!

Changes and Fixes




  • Campers now prioritize putting away a resource immediately after collecting it as long as there is a dedicated Storage for that resource with space available, otherwise they will default to dropping the resource on the ground for the player to collect.
  • Fixed campers not detecting/using certain Storage items properly.
  • Campers will no longer autonomously pick flowers or chop trees that are placed by the player, but can still be ordered to do so.
  • Campers will no longer choose to put tools away to make room in their inventory, with the exception of giving their tools back to the Tool Shed at the end of the summer.
  • Campers no longer leave camp after their health is reduced to zero three times, they will instead simply reduce their camp rating.
  • Redesigned/improved Lightbulb (Learning UI) to be more informative - it now additionally displays the current Badge the camper is learning.
  • Added new tool "Shears" that are now required to be able to Snip Flowers/Plants off the ground. Added Shears to Wick's default shop inventory.
  • Rewrote/changed all of Pam's donation quests and dialog to be more interesting/varied and encourage more exploration.
  • Added new custom music track for the northern region of Frontier Valley. 🎵
  • Fixed keyboard prompts not appearing correctly after mouse input detected.
  • Fishing Spots in different locations now have varying levels of difficulty. (Forest Fishing Spots are easiest, then Wetlands, then Snowy)
  • Frogs and Bunnies can now be photographed.
  • Different sized cabins now all have different sized interiors and bed numbers.
  • Fixed Hooper not having enough space in his inventory for all his unlockables, resulting in dropping them on the floor and not being available for purchase.
  • Fixed Fast Travel Bonfire teleport positions not loading properly from a save.
  • Fixed camper relationships/stats not loading properly from a save.
  • By default, Player can perform camp activities more easily/with a higher success rate.
  • Fixed missing starting items for certain camper archetypes.
  • Fixed being able to pin multiple To-Do List entries at a time.
  • Fixed To-Do List entries not displaying on game screen when manually pinned.
  • Shortened time between showing last year's reputation score vs this year's score at Summer End.
  • Fixed missing gamepad support in Summer End screen.
  • Added stopgap to prevent accidental purchase of shop item when opening shops on gamepad.
  • Fixed several instances of overlapping text in menus.

  • Added in-game notifications for detecting connecting/disconnecting gamepads.

  • Reduced cost of repair for all Bridges and Ramps by 50%

  • Modified several Donation Quests to gift players storage items relevant to the task at hand.
  • Removed default storage containers (Wood Pile and Mine Cart) from the campgrounds.
  • Increased sell value of several camper drops (Star Maps, Photographs, Trophies) to $10
  • Added gamepad shortcut prompts to Trading Menu for clarity on how to split stacks and move between inventories.
  • Edited and removed several camper traits/likes for better readability, clarity and consistency.
  • The starter grill at the campgrounds can no longer be destroyed.
  • Fixed Player being unable to interact with objects after ending the day while holding a camper.
  • Fixed "Load" button not displaying in Main Menu if Slot 1 is empty.
  • Improved visual feedback for selecting save slots/knowing which slot is currently selected.

  • Changed language/wording to be more specific for several interaction prompts.
  • Cursor now toggles on/off based on whether gamepad input or mouse input is detected.

  • Fixed campers not being able to be commanded to sleep in their sleeping bags.

  • Fixed tasks not checking off automatically if a task ends before the To-Do Menu has been opened after a load.
  • Added a delay between banner logs for finishing a task and gaining a new task.
  • Fixed To-Do listings not updating their pinned status when a new pinned task is added outside of the menu.
  • Added safeguards for several spots where players were getting stuck in geometry/falling where they shouldn't.
  • Increased display size of Hot Bar "Drop" prompt for better legibility.

  • Fixed campers asking player to clear their inventory while their inventory still has slots available.
  • Changed color of messages for "roughhousing" versus "bullying" to indicate one is a positive/neutral action while the latter is negative.

Patch Notes (Version 0.903)


  • Fixed regression with shop purchase button becoming non-interactable.
  • Fixed several instances of [ERROR] prompts displaying instead of keyboard prompts when using mouse and keyboard.
  • Fixed Wick/Catherine not properly skipping their intro dialog when the tutorial is skipped, leading to issues with their respective "Talk to" quests.

The Deseret Update (Version 0.9)



Welcome to The Deseret Update! No, we didn't spell "desert" wrong, "deseret" is a Utah word that means "hard worker" or "honey bee," and you better believe we've been as busy as bees this past month on this update! Eh? See what I did there? I also had no idea what to call this update since there's a lot of disparate stuff going into it, so let's just buzz right on in, shall we?

New Features




The Final Biome

You know that mysterious and enormous desert region that's blocked off by those pesky Government Agents? Well, rumor has it that the Agents will now leave their posts should the camp achieve a five star reputation rating, and you'll gain access to this secretive, closed off desert region full of historical monuments, strange artifacts and shocking revelations that may reveal answers to some of the camp's many mysteries.

You'll have to find out for yourself what this final biome has in store...


Heat Waves

Remember, only YOU can prevent forest fires! Heat Waves now have a 30% chance of happening any given day, and when they occur, make sure you're being careful about how close you're placing fire sources to trees, or you may start a forest fire! Once started, forest fires set off chain reactions that will spread to any nearby trees, and are very frightening for campers to witness.


Steam Achievements

You've been asking for them, and now they're finally here! This month we've implemented a whopping 44 Steam Achievements for you cheevo hunters out there, so get hunting! These were a lot of fun to come up with, and I hope they will unlock a need to explore everything Camp Canyonwood has to offer! Improved/Full Controller Support

Controller Support is now vastly improved, and Full-er than ever. Gamepad-friendly keyboards now pop up when entering text in Big Picture Mode, we now display four kinds of new visual gamepad prompts (Glyphs) based on auto-detected controller types such as Xbox Controllers, Playstation Dualshock Controllers, Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers and Steam Deck!

In addition, we've added a bevvy of other minor improvements and fixes you can find listed more fully in the next section below!

  • Quick Inventory Button now available in Camper Status Menu, letting you open any camper's inventory for quick management any time.
  • Added Ash item for burned trees and overcooked items.
  • Cookable items can be cooked again to create more types of food (Popcorn, Charred Marshmallows) or will create Ash if overcooked.
  • New rare items added to Desert Digging Spots (T-Rex Skull, Utahraptor Skull, Mystery Evidence)
  • New custom visuals designed/implemented for Badges.
  • Collection Menu now supports gamepad navigation.
  • Intro "Job Application" sequence now supports gamepad navigation.
  • Fixed several regressions for menus where gamepad support broke.
  • Tip Popups now have a dedicated close button on gamepad.
  • Control prompts added to Clipboard Menu.

  • All Flowers now have a buff radius that increases Fun for campers around them.
  • Agents now disappear upon reaching a five star reputation rating.
  • Altered Vernon's five star reputation dialog.
  • Altered the text of several Museum Displays to include additional story information. (No retcons happening here, no sir)
  • Altered the text of certain Info Signs to include additional story information or fix incorrect information.
  • Changed sound FX for a certain cave encounter. No particular reason, no need to read into it.

The Wetlands Update (Version 0.5)



Welcome to the sixth major Camp Canyonwood update! This month, things are getting real wet with rainy days, a huge new wetlands biome to explore, and more!

New Features




New Wetlands Biome

Our biggest unlockable biome yet. The grassy, puddle and lake-filled wetlands of Beaver Basin and Claw Marsh are now available to explore! Go fishing at the abandoned Canoe Docks by Camp Canyonwood's largest body of water, The Sunken Lagoon, and then hunt for insects among the tall grass at Cattail Crossing! When you're done, set up camp by Claw Lake and watch the beavers work their little tails off.


New Wildlife + Secrets

With a new biome once again comes new wildlife! New cute-and-busy Beavers will go looking for trees to chop down, while rumor has it that the Ghosts of those who drowned in the lakes still haunt these forgotten shores. Was it the Lagoon Monster that took them under? Or were they dropped into the lake by the gargantuan Mosquito Man that supposedly flies through the camp looking for lost campers? Neither, of course, because these are just stories!


Rainy Days

Each in-game day, there is now a 30% chance of the day becoming a Rainy Day! On rainy days, as you might expect, it rains throughout the camp! You'll find that the camp staff often has unique dialog on rainy days, so be sure to talk to them to find out how they feel when the clouds begin to weep.

Changes and Fixes




  • Re-balanced bug distribution across entire map. Many species of bugs are now exclusive to certain regions, and new spawners have been created to make more concentrated hot-spots for certain species, such as bees, butterflies, and mosquitos.
  • Grey now has a chance of spawning every night in Jack's Bluff, instead of only on certain nights. UFO Encounters have also gone up in frequency as a result.
  • New Sound FX created for Yeti and Ghost Vanishing FX.
  • Ghost Vanishing FX tweaked to be more subtle.
  • New ambient sounds implemented for the snow biome.
  • New Evidence has been distributed through the map. Some other pieces of Evidence have been moved.
  • Certain ghosts have been relocated.
  • New Collection Entries written for new wildlife, cryptids and ghosts.
  • New Plant: Cattails can now spawn on muddy terrain.
  • Puddles are now also Fishing Spots with very small catchable fish.
  • New "No Swimming" signage has been added throughout the map's various lakes.

  • Fixed exploit that let you sell items infinitely.
  • Temporarily disabled Camper Request to-do list notifications until they can be fixed to reduce on-screen clutter.

  • Fixed regression causing NPC's to not be interactable when they are ready to give a request.

The Alpine Update (Version 0.4)



Welcome to the fifth major Camp Canyonwood update! This month, we've been fleshing out a cold and wild new biome to explore, creating an absolute ton of collectable entries, and getting a bunch of new fixes in! Check out the full details below!

New Features




New Snowcrest Summit Biome

The northern snow-capped regions of Camp Canyonwood are now available to explore! Accessed via newly unlockable ramps in Marriage Ridge or Jack's Bluff, you can now venture into the snowy, evergreen wilds of Snowcrest Summit. Here you can go fish for unique catches in Sister Lake and Brother Lake, explore the thick forests of the Yeti Backwoods, or gaze into the night sky over in Angel's Clearing.


New Wildlife + Secrets

With a new biome comes new wildlife and secrets to discover! New adorable Snowshoe Rabbits are known to populate these colder climates, but is it true about what they say comes stomping around at night in the Yeti Backwoods? What about the rumored Hidden Bunker? Ghosts? Guess you'll have to find out.


Collection Guide

With all these plants, animals, fish, insects and ghosts to discover in Camp Canyonwood, we thought it was finally time to introduce a Collection Guide for those who wish to track their various discoveries! Accessed via the Clipboard Menu, you can now read about each new discovery as you find them in the handy Collection Guide sub-menu!

Changes and Fixes




  • Fishing is now performed exclusively on docks. Additional fishing spots have been added to each dock, new docks have been added to the map, and some docks have been resized or extended.
  • Campers' stats now deplete/increase at roughly half the usual rate. Camper emergencies should happen far less frequently now as a result.
  • Campers now display a "Heart" and "Broken Heart" above their heads to indicate a change in their relationships with each-other and the player.
  • Added Fast Travel Bonfires to Disguised Hoopers' shops.
  • Map Signs updated to reflect new content/landmarks added.
  • All Bugs have received updated Inventory Icons.
  • New evidence added, and some older evidence has been relocated.
  • Relocated certain ghosts.
  • Created new biome-specific loot tables for Digging Spots, Fishing Spots, etc. Now every biome has unique drops.
  • Taking an item away while it's cooking no longer makes the smoke and grilling sound play forever.
  • Fixed some instances of auto-to-dos not checking themselves off correctly.
  • Water and waterfall visuals overhauled.
  • Dock and ramp visuals overhauled.
  • Fixed instance of campers duplicating items when using storage or leaving for the summer.
  • Fixed Digging Spots disappearing from the map after loading a saved game.
  • Removed "small" and "large" digging spots for mechanical clarity.
  • Fixed instance of "black screen" hangup/input freeze after the Nightmare sequence.
  • Fixed Hooper sometimes not being interactable.
  • Fixed an instance causing time to stop when a quest was given.
  • Fixed NPC Shops causing input to freeze after opening.
  • Fixed a few more instances of OutOfRange errors being thrown by expandable inventories.
  • Fixed an instance of saved games failing to load in certain circumstances.
