Update 0.12.5.0

For this update we've done various improvements and fixes, as well as introduced a new drivable boat. This new Junker Boat has been added to our Starter Pack DLC as a free update. It's 44ft long (the Pontoon is 25ft for comparison) and is the largest boat introduced so far and can sit 8 people in addition to the driver (as well as plenty of standing room). It has a top speed typically of around 15 mph.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/976050/Capsa__Starter_Pack/
NOTE: Users who owned Caspa before it was free to play will also get it as the Starter Pack DLC is basically a continuation of that paid package.

Other changes this update features includes a reworked camera system for boats that will allow players to offset the pitch slightly, and only the yaw get reset. This helps to angle the camera above the larger boats.

Buggy's such as the Raptor and Enforcer have gained some rear crates/tookboxes as options (these are included free). Also the Scorpion Buggy has received some tweaks to its handling to improve the steering a bit which was previously a little twitchy. In addition some of the camera's used for its customization have been reworked to make it easier to see.

We've also added a bunch more patterns to last weeks Vehicle Novelty Patterns DLC including a new Nebula pattern that comes in 5 colors for the pontoon, as well as a bunch of patterns for the Scorpion Buggy. More will be added as free updates over time.

Update 0.12.4.0

For this update we've focused on improving the boats, this includes giving them improved wake visuals, adding in over 40 different patterns for customization, as well as a few functional additions such as optional locked throttle and ability to toggle fenders or bimini if equipped.

Above is a screenshot showing the wake effects for various boats, there are also splash effects for landing after jumping a wave. These effects will be pausable for the Photo Mode as well as all previous water effects such as waves being updated for Photo Mode as well.

NOTE: Wake effects will change depending on graphics setting set, shown above is as it would look in Ultra. In High they are similar just reduced in amount, and in Medium/Low these effects are disabled.

Below are screenshots showing a selection of the more than 40 new included patterns for boats (each boat has at least eight new pattern options in a catagory labled 'Classic'). Each of the boats in these screenshots is using a color preset for its main pattern (so you can easily have your boat looking like any of these if you wanted), but they can each be color customized freely to your personal taste.

There are so many changes to the boats that you may need to adjust your customization a bit for some boats. Notably the floors and interiors of boats are now in seperate customization slots, allowing more customization on boats where you previously couldn't set these independently.

The base materials of all boats have been improved to give better detail and resolution, you'll also find a few additional customization parts, some free and some as part of various kits. Above is a rounded Barracuda hull which is free, and a different front for the Moray (railing was seperated from the previous middle part so have an option to work with some patterns) is part of a DLC pack. Also notably there is also unpainted steel headlights added to the Moray and Pontoon included.

In addition boats have gained a couple extra functions such as the ability to toggle fenders or the bimini (these require a DLC purchase to unlock as are part of various kits), this is with Z and X key by default, but of course can simply be changed in options menu if you wish.

Another useful addition is the ability to toggle boats to a locked throttle (c key via default or can be set to be on by default in game options). This means the throttle will not throttle down when the throttle or move forwards key is released. You can also increase or decrease throttle to the setting you wish. There is no visual indicator of your throttle at the moment, but this may be something for a future update.

In addition to the 40 or so patterns mentioned about being added above (which are free), we've also added a new DLC pack featuring all previous vehicle novelty patterns on item store as well as 9 new boat ones. More will be added over time as free updates to this pack.

General
  • Added improved third person camera behavior for boats, this will no longer lag the camera but will instead zoom out based on velocity somewhat. There is also a better zoom behavior which will set the minimum zoom based on velocity but allow you to control the minimum zoom amount.
  • Added optional locked throttle for Boats, this can be set in options menu and/or toggled during gameplay. When enabled when you release the throttle/move forwards button the boat will not throttle down and you’ll have to manually move down using the reverse key. For usability sake, when the throttle is <10% in either forwards or reverse it will still throttle down to 0. By default C key will switch throttle type.

  • Added adjustments to boat propeller spin rates at low throttles to have a faster rate.
  • Added key to toggle hiding of fenders if equipped to a boat. By default, this is X key and labeled as ‘hide/show accessory 2’ in control options under ground vehicle. Additionally, when you respawn a boat or open the customization menu these will be visible again.
  • Added key to toggle Bimini (open/closed) if equipped to a boat. By default this is Z key and labeled as ‘hide/show accessory 1’. The default appearance of the bimini will depend on whether you have picked an open or closed bimini in the customization menu as per normal. It will revert to this every time a new boat is spawned.
  • Added slightly larger radio range for boats as well as a longer fall off when is a media stream in slots mode.
  • Added camera adjustment for the Moray to make it easier to see in First Person (raised camera height slightly).
  • Added change to Event Invitations, these will now only occur when players are currently actively playing. E.g. when a player has manually joined, other players will then get invited.
  • Added new spawn menu images for some boats using new patterns.
  • Fixed a collision issue with front of Barrelback.
  • Fixed walk toggle for character initially taking two presses to enter walking.
  • Fixed boat x and y angles resetting during photo mode (they should now freeze in place at instance of entering photo mode).

Update 0.12.2.0

For Capsa's second anniversary update we've added a new cyberpunk region that features a new club to dance at. This region co-exists on the same server, but is disconnected and doesn't require loading the tropical region to reach. This gives considerably higher performance and very short load times. To access this region you can find it on the spawn menu where other locations are normally found.

You can teleport to different regions while on the server, but on the first time a loading event will occur to load the other region. Shown below are various screenshots of this new region.

In addition to this new region various core bug fixing has been done as well some improvements to the recently added race system, including 3 new races. We've also added 3 new DLC packages shown below.

Update 0.12.0.0

Update 0.12 has been released and is one of the largest updates to Capsa so far. It introduces online multiplayer racing through a new event system, adds several improvements to existing areas, and features an overhaul of ground vehicle item drops.

The new online multiplayer racing events each consist of 5 stages. Each stage is a different circuit or checkpoint race that’s randomly selected from a pool of 18 different courses with various modifiers such as course direction. Throughout the event players will accumulate points towards a different level of rarity of item drop that’s rewarded after the final stage.

To join an event, you can either accept one of the given invitations or through the radial menu manually select to join or put yourself in queue for the next event. Players can join mid event on e.g. stage 2 of 5 if needed.

Item drops have been significantly reworked in this update, including the addition of several hundred new items that can drop. These can only be obtained through the racing events, as well as hidden locked boxes as before. There is no limit on how many item drops you can earn through events each day, with each event typically lasting between 20-30 minutes.

To use the dropped items there is a new ground vehicle engine editor, which can be accessed via 2 key or via the radial menu when sat in a buggy. This system provides you with 8 engine slots, and you can switch engine slot independently to your currently chosen buggy; which means you can reuse the same engine across all your vehicles if you wish.

This new editor also allows you to mix some vehicle parts together, so lets say you have a legendary carbon muffler but would prefer the silver bits to be gold; well, now if you have a different metal variant of the same part type you will automatically be presented with additional variants.

Other changes in this update include additions to several areas, as well as updated spawn menu images for most locations. Loading has also been improved so it will be slightly quicker for most users (5-10 seconds less) but more imporantly it now shows the loading percentage for the individual map tile step, allowing you to see the real loading progress.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/977170/Capsa__Vehicle_Raider_Pack/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1003681/Capsa__Vehicle_Race_Pack/
In the past week we've also improved the above DLC packages, which now include a few more items each as well as better promo images. In addition to this, some parts have also recieved additional pattern options and nearly every vehicle customization item has recieved color presets so you can get ideas and a start point for how you want your vehicle to look.

But this update isn't all vehicle themed, you'll find a new Bar in the Mataara area which features functional bar stools. The existing bar has been updated to also feature fully functional seating. In addition to this work-in-progress seating has been added to the dock near the creek in Mataara and Pond at Rohai, this allows you to sit on cushions with your feet over the edge.

Other noteworthy changes include time of day cycle when changing via command, this means for users on high graphics settings users will see the time of day move quickly to the changed time over a few seconds rather than instantly snap. Also added is improved responsiveness for lighting changes after leaving caves, and toggling the hide/show hud option; both of which should be fairly instantanious now.

Update 0.11.10.0

This update introduces a world map menu which allows the player to see markers of unlocked areas, locations of players, and place a waypoint to travel to. Theres also a bunch of general bug-fixes and quality of life improvements as listed in the full notes below. But first is a few more screenshots of the world map system.
