So, it's new year, and i wanted to talk a little about the future of Dead Inside Studio, and about what i've accomplished so far.
As some of you might know, Captive was initially made as an entry for a game jam, in which you had to make a game from scratch in one month, and that's when the first playable build of the game was developed.
Before that i was working on another horror game called Ghosts, and i will finish it, in time, and i'm sure you guys will love it aswell.
I grew so attached to Captive that i didn't want to put the game in the contest anymore, and decided to publish it myself, and it was a really unpolished game at launch.
But here we are, the game has changed a lot so far, it gained a lot of polish and depth, and grew into the heart of some of you out there, which makes me very happy, and i must say it has become one of the best looking RPG Maker games on Steam.
Captive is now the "prologue" to a much bigger story, which will be covered in future games, so don't worry if it feels somewhat unexplained right now, everything will make sense at the right time.
For this series of horror games, the next scheduled game to be launched is called Samael.
Samael, based on an urban legend and internet creepy pasta by the same name, will cover the story of a young man who's chased by a monstruous looking creature after finding the dead body of his older brother.
This character, much like the main character of Captive, will have to survive while trying to figure out the truth of what happened to his brother.
While Captive was my take on the "escape the room" horror genre, Samael will be my take on the "monster" horror genre, bringing it's own mechanics, story and characters, while maintaining the style of it's predecessor.
The Steam page for Samael will be up by April, or even sooner, so keep up with me on this new project, here and on our website and Facebook page!
As always, thank you all for your support, and see you soon.
Alternate Ending & Post Credits Scenes
As mentioned before, i did some tweaks on the last update, and now the game has a secret ending and post credits scenes, make sure to get to see those, together with an updated store page!
Captive Version 1.4 Update!
Hey everyone, today i bring you the version 1.4 update for Captive, which will be the final major update for now, as i plan on focusing on other projects that will soon come to Steam aswell, although i will still be fixing bugs so be sure to send me a report if you find any.
This update counts with:
-A complete graphical revamp with new animations and effects
-Screen filters by Fallen Angel Olivia
-New items
-A little more lore exposition
-Some map changes
As always, thank you for your support.
Captive's 1 Year of Development Anniversary
Yes, today is Captive's 1 year of development anniversary.
It's been a ride, this game was initially suposed to be an entry at the 2017 IGMC, which is a very important game jam, but i grew very attached to the game, and felt like publishing it myself.
I have also been delaying other projects for the sake of updating Captive until i feel like it's really finished, because i really love this game, and i hope you love it too.
Updates planned for later this month, so keep your eye on that.
As always, thank you all for your support, and if you enjoyed the game, be sure to tell people about it on the reviews, it really helps a lot!
See you soon!
Captive OST now on YouTube!
Now you can listen to Captive's soundtrack on YouTube at our channel!
Hello people, this post is going to be a long one, and i wish to cover a lot of stuff, so be warned.
Today is a very important day in the history of Dead Inside Studio, for several reasons. First off, our debut game Captive, which has right now over 85% positive reviews on Steam and that's awesome, just passed the $1000 sales mark, and that means we'll have our first trading cards ever and a bonus on the paycheck (that's always welcome), so it definetly feels like this is going somewhere! Also, we just signed a contract with IndieGala, and now our games are going to be featured on their bundles and sales (keep your eye on those), that's a huge step that at first seemed unbelievable.
Spoilers: there will be a bundle on the 10th of October and also a Halloween sale by the end of the month.
So, what am i currently working on? I plan on still doing a couple of content updates for Captive, with new artwork, alternate endings, and all that stuff we all know and love. On the schedule there should be a new game release by the end of the year, i'm just not sure which one will it be yet, but currently Samael and BioCop are the ones closer to a playable build. There's also many other projects, of diverse game genres, on development, and that makes me very excited.
I'd like to thank each and every one of you for the support, as much as it feels like a lonely road sometimes, it wouldn't be possible without you guys.
Special thanks to all of the artists who have been a part of the projects with their amazing works: the pixel art and animations by Glauber and Lucas, the illustrations made by Uriel and Zennieth, the beautiful music pieces by Thales, Roxxi and Michael, aswell as all the people who made the plugins and tilesets i use on my games, and my friends who are constantly supporting me to go on. As much as i'm a jack of all trades and try to work my way out on all those areas, the projects just wouldn't be as good without the pros.
You're all part of the team!
I'll keep trying to do the best games i can, bringing ideas to life, making people feel something, and just overall entertaining you!
You can keep track of all the projects and updates on Facebook at @deadinsidestudio, on Instagram at @thedeadinsidestudio, and at our website www.deadinsidestudio.com.
Thanks a lot!
