Trading Cards and a short status update

Hello there,

An unusually long time passed since the last Card Hog update and the next one is taking longer than I expected, so I wanted to apologize for that and get you up to date.

The main and most unfortunate reason of this delay was my lack of motivation likely caused by a mix of burnout, health issues and just plain ol' mental exhaustion. No need to worry, everything is okay-ish now and I'm making some progress with gamedev work again!

However, I didn't want to follow up my absence with a tiny "bug fixes and UI improvements" update, took a chunky task of adding custom games and reworking deck creation, so it's taking a while... First iteration of custom games will allow players to modify a bunch of game options to tweak difficulty and certain mechanics. But my idea for the future is to add support for basic custom scenarios (spawn x card every y turns, etc).

Ideally, I'd like to move the game out of Early Access in the first quarter of 2022, but there still are a few big tasks I need to finish for that to happen. Mainly creating end game content for zombies and loops.

Trading Cards!



Did you notice any new items in your inventory? Trading Cards are finally here, so good luck collecting the sets! Hope you like the designs, Emil did a fantastic job on those characters and I find all of them adorable! Which one is your favorite?

There might be more emotes and Point Store stickers added in the future, so also let me know what you'd like to see there!

Few new upgrades, UI changes and bug fixes

Hello there,

I always wanted to make boss loot more special, so from now on that can be upgraded using beans to make bosses drop some coins and scrap together with their card. Also I've been working on cleaning up all kinds of small UI issues and even the tiniest bugs that I could find.



Major changes



  • New permanent upgrades: Boss coin/scrap drops, More booster card uses
  • Bosses can now drop chests with multiple loot items

Other changes



  • Improved gamepad/keyboard controls in multiple menus
  • Updated art of a few cards
  • Moved social buttons to the top
  • Added a few more sound effects in places where they were missing
  • Tweaked tooltip behavior in multiple places
  • Fixed a few of the weapons not having hand overlays
  • Fixed a bug where some cards would not be properly displayed in menus
  • Fixed a bug where magnifying glass wouldn't disappear when using a controller
  • Fixed a bug where certain menus wouldn't be focused if they have labels as first item
  • Fixed a possible UI-related crash in multiplayer modes
  • Fixed a bug that allowed player to move before Booster menu appears
  • Fixed glitchy scrollbar in statistics menu
  • Fixed scrap count positioning in Zombie mode
  • Fixed grid positioning to not overlap progress bars
  • Fixed a bug that made skill ribbon hover to show up through other menus
  • Fixed a bug that would load up a destroyed column of cards in Flame Escape
