Card Quest - Chinese
Hello everyone!
I hope you're well.
The purpose of this announcement is to let you know that Card Quest is now available in Chinese. This is not something we had originally planned as our game was never prepared for Localisations, but we were pleasantly surprised when one great guy by the name of 超威蓝猫 approached us some time ago, telling us that he had translated the game on his own by using an external tool.
To change the game language you will have to right click on the game in the library and select properties. There you will find a language section in the General tab where you'll be able to switch the language to Chinese. The translation is only available for PC users because of limitations with the external tool used.
A huge thanks to 超威蓝猫 for his help and dedication. We really appreciate it what you did!
Card Quest: Remastered - On Hold
Hello everyone! I hope you are all well.
It's been quite a while since our last Card Quest announcement. More than a year really! We apologize for that. We have been so busy with Card Survival and life... and admittedly this wasn't an easy announcement to make.
It's been a difficult decision but we will be putting Card Quest: Remastered on hold for the indefinite future.
Our initial plan, almost 2 years ago, had been to release Card Survival and Card Quest Remastered in 2022 and then to keep making games on the Card Survival series while we worked on a new third game unrelated to our previous titles. But then Card Survival got a lot bigger than we thought and also became our first commercially successful game, teaching us many lessons in the process.
Unfortunately, while we have already invested considerable money and time on Card Quest Remastered, we'd still need to invest a lot more before we would be happy releasing it and this leaves us in a difficult position. We have thought about releasing a simpler version of Card Quest Remastered, but we wouldn't really be happy charging money for it and knowing ourselves we would just still end up investing lots of time on it anyway. The truth is that we don't want to delay our third game, nor compromise the Card Survival series. We are a small team of two and we really can't put in any more work hours at the moment, especially not after this intense last year.
I know that many of you were looking forward to its release and we're sorry that we weren't able to deliver on that front. If circumstances ever change or we see a way to make it happen, we'll be happy to get Card Quest Remastered finally out. For now, we just don't want anyone to be waiting for it!
Take care everyone!
Card Quest: Remastered - News
Hello Guys! Hope you are all well.
This year has been very important for us. We are independent again, we released our second game Card Survival and I had a baby! And all of this was made possible, not in small part by the confidence that we got from the people that enjoyed Card Quest. So thank you all! :)
The purpose of this announcement however is to inform you all that unfortunately we are going to have to delay the release of Card Quest: Remastered to some unspecified date in 2022.
The reasons for the delay are varied but we could say that in the end it was just a classic case of the planning fallacy. Releasing two games of this size in one year as a two-man team was probably a silly idea from the beginning. Releasing two games in one year while having a baby was probably even sillier. Plissken (the other half of WinterspringGames) had been wisely weary of giving any dates but I still wanted to give some sort of more tangible date and somehow thought releasing CQ:R for the last months of 2021 would be reasonably safe... oh well!
We can't give any dates for now beyond the fact that this would be a 2022 release (don't want to make the same mistake again!). Of course, as soon as we can get a clearer picture and make some better date proposals we'll make an announcement about it.
Beyond that, Card Quest: Remastered's ideal content list remains the same:
◙ Art Overhaul: New art (I'm personally working on it to make sure every asset retains the identity of the previous game) and we will include an option to switch to the old graphics, don't worry! :)
◙ Gauntlet Mode: Big game mode that is almost a new game in itself.
◙ Mod Support: For player-made campaigns, cards, items and enemies.
◙ Localization: Spanish, French and German plus as many languages as we can find volunteers for.
◙ Rebalancing and Bug Fixes.
We are sorry for the delay, but we promise we'll work as hard as we can to make both Card Survival and Card Quest the best games we can get them to be. :) Thanks for reading!
Card Survival is Out!
Hello everyone!
We're happy to announce that Card Survival is finally out.
Card Survival tries to capture what a survival experience would feel like, and like our previous game, it does so by using cards and the player's imagination.
Thank you all and we hope you enjoy it!
Card Survival
Hello everyone!!
We just wanted to let you know that the "Coming Soon" page for Card Survival is now visible on Steam. Our official release date for the Early Access is going to be on August the 16th, but feel free to pay the page a visit to see if you want to wishlist it or learn more about the game.
For those of you who haven't read our previous announcement, Card Survival is not a roguelike (although it does have permadeath) and is not related to Card Quest. Whereas Card Quest tried to capture the feeling of being a medieval fantasy hero fighting lots of enemies, Card Survival tries to capture what a survival experience would feel like, and like our previous game, it does so by using cards and the player's imagination.
The game already contains many hours of gameplay and a lot of things to do, but we plan on having regular updates with new content and bug fixes all the way up to its final release in around 6 months.
Thanks for reading guys. We hope you like the game!!
Small fixes (v1.03f)
-Fixed the numbers in the main menu missing one unlocked item for the Rogue and Fighter -Fixed a path not highlighting properly in the undead campaign map
Important News
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well. We wanted to let you know that after a few years of hiatus we are now full-time indie developers again. It's been a long time since our last announcement and as you can imagine we have many things to tell you.
◙◙◙ 1 - Bug Fixes ◙◙◙
First, we've just fixed a few bugs that were stopping the game from registering when a player had gotten all items with the rogue and fighter, as well as a card overlapping issue on the mobile version and a map bug in the undead campaign. These fixes are already up for the Android version, and will be up on Steam (for both windows and mac) next week.
We are currently in the process of transferring Card Quest to a new publisher, as our old one is closing doors, and this has required us to delete the Card Quest App from IOS and upload it again under the new publisher (as Apple didn't let us do the transfer). This means that unfortunately, old IOS users will not be able to get this patch at the moment. That said however, we will be looking into ways to solve this issue so that old users can still get this last patch if they so want to, which is in all likelihood the last one we'll ever release for Card Quest.
◙◙◙ 2 - Card Quest Remastered ◙◙◙
Second, for all the people that have enjoyed Card Quest during the last few years, we are happy to tell you that we're planning on releasing a remastered version of the game for the final months of 2021. We're still in very early development, so many things might change and there's always the risk that we might need to cut/postpone some features, but if all goes well the new game would be coming with:
◙ New Revamped Art:
We are replacing Card Quest's old graphics with new more professional ones that will make the game look much better while retaining its spirit. These changes will include a complete replacement of all art assets as well as a redesign of its interface and menus to make them more accessible and aesthetically pleasing.
◙ Gauntlet Mode:
We are adding a new very large game mode that more closely resembles the classic roguelike approach. In it you will be starting with no equipment and will have to go through a very large dungeon, and get a chance to find and buy random loot with which to increase your power. This equipment will however, unlike in the normal campaigns, only last for the current run and reset once you die. This mode is quite large and while it will reuse the equipment and enemies from the 3 classic campaigns it is almost like a completely new game in itself.
◙ Mod Support:
We are currently looking into cost-efficient ways to make Card Quest mod-friendly so that other people can make their own campaigns, enemies and cards. While this is not certain at the moment, in our Ideal version of Card Quest Remastered, this would be one of the features we'd like to include.
◙ Localisation Support:
Many have asked us to translate the game into other languages, unfortunately Card Quest was not prepared for that as we couldn't really do it without a considerable amount of work. For this reason we will be making sure this new Card Quest is prepared for localisation so that adding new languages is an easy thing to do.
◙ Improved Training:
We are going to be reworking our "trainings" to make sure they are more accessible and can convey how to best play Card Quest without making it feel like we are beating the player with a mace until they start "thinking right".
◙ General Polish:
We will be fixing many minor bugs, as well as improving texts and balancing whenever possible.
◙◙◙ 3 - Card Survival ◙◙◙
Thirdly, we have a new game to announce, or rather, more like a game series to announce. We are calling it: Card Survival.
This series attempts to capture the survival experience you can find in other games and translate it into a card format, trying to take advantage of the features that such a format can bring. Our idea would be to release different Card Survival games for each type of survival experience (deserted island, below zero, mars mission, zombie apocalypse, etc...). Each game containing 15-30 hours of content (so not as huge as card quest was but still sizeable enough) and each at a very affordable price.
The first in the series is going to be a game called "Card Survival: Stranded Island" and like its name shows will attempt to capture the experience of what it feels like to be stranded on a deserted island. This game is already in an advanced stage of development and will probably be released on early access at some point in the next 3-4 months.
If all goes well we'll be releasing the next instalment in the series later this same year.
◙◙◙
That should be all for now. See you guys in the next announcement!
