Card Quest

Card Quest version 1.00!

Hello all!

We are proud to announce that Card Quest has officially left Early Access. With this update, we are adding the last remaining end game item for the Mountains dungeon: the Runecrafter's Mask.

This mask allows you to craft very unique runes in exchange for gold. Activate it during a fight and it will open a shop-type menu at the end of the encounter, where you can buy 3 different runes.

The game being fully released doesn't mean that we will stop updating it altogether: we will continue to apply balance patches and fix bugs when they appear, only less frequently.

Thanks to all our players for participating in the early access process, your feedback has been very helpful to the development of Card Quest and we appreciate it very much!

Our plans for the future mostly involve releasing the game on other platforms/stores, mainly on GOG and on Android phones. Stay tuned!

Weekly announcement and v082

Hello all!

Card Quest is getting very close to its final release! We plan to officially get out of Early Access on November 7th, after we take care of a few last remaining things.

Because we're working on that final release, this week's update will be a smaller one:

Changes and fixes

-Fixed a recent bug with the Spider Huntress that caused the game to freeze after the huntress went into hiding.
-Improved the text description on many cards.

Weekly Announcement and v081

Hi Guys!

Our weekly version is here.
We have added the new system for the saves. From now on when you go to the main menu and back the game will continue from the last action you had taken instead of from the beginning of the battle.
We have tested everything as much as we could but we´ll keep our eyes open in case there´s a bug that escaped us.

In addition to the saves we have also included some minor balance changes:

General Changes:

- Decreased the price of the Miracle Medicine.

Rogue Changes:

- Armor Penetration now only works for a turn.
- Damage mitigation now only increases hp by 3.
- Remove movement efficiency perk.
- Homemade Poison no longer stacks (poison maker perk).
- Backjab no longer has armor piercing.

Hunter Changes:

- Good eye now only works for 1 turn.

Wizard Changes:

- Fixed Imp Familiar description.
- Made it so that all robes and familiars grant their proper resources even if they are the only source for that resource in the build.

Fighter Changes:

- Fixed a bug with the soul stab (was only drawing on chain).

Weekly Announcement and v080

Hello all!

This week we have another smaller update with just balance tweaks and bug fixes.

Behind the scenes we are currently working on a better saving system that will save the game after each action played instead of only at the beginning of each fight, and we'll add it to the game with the next update. We know that it will be somewhat of a change in how the game plays and feels, but we are confident that this new system will really improve the overall experience (don't worry though, it will be fully compatible with the current saving system and you won't have to restart any game when those changes apply).

With that being said, here's the list of this week's changes:

General Changes:

- Lowered Troll Champion´s regeneration.

Rogue Changes:

- Fixed Quick Thinker description.

Wizard Changes:

- Magic Ward Perk now only works when not defending.
- Fixed lightning Aura description.
- Improved some perk descriptions.
- Ring of Shielding now gets its charges less often.
- Fixed a bug with the defensive fog card not lowering enough fire magic.

Fighter Changes:

- Diamond Ring name changed for Gold Ring.

Weekly Announcement and v079!

Hello all!

We're glad to announce that despite last week's drawback, we're back to posting our weekly updates!

This week we're adding one new end game item for the Forest dungeon: the Forest Crown

This one is useful in two ways: it doubles the XP you earn from beating rooms, and you can use it to chose an animal aspect that will give you various passive buffs depending on your class.

On top of that we have a good bunch of balance tweaks and a few bug fixes too, here's the list:

General Changes:

- Fixed many typos.
- Decreased the cost of using the alchemy set to 75.
- Lowered georg the merchants prices.
- Fixed a bug with the Spider Huntress (and other enemies that go into hiding) that caused it to come out of hiding invisible and impossible to target.

Hunter Changes:

- Fixed bug with the hunter not unlocking the demon heart.
- Fixed a bug with the arbalist class not unlocking properly.

Wizard Changes:

- Repulsion Blast now generates arcane charges but no longer stuns unless it's chained.
- Repulsion Blast no longer costs lesss stamina when chained.
- Fixed bug with the Imp Familiar.
- Fixed bug with the Fairy Familiar having the wrong sound.
- Fixed bug with the illusion robes (split image discount).
- Imprison now generates arcane charges (and no longer costs arcane charges) but costs more stamina.
- Dark Ritual now costs 4 hps instead of 2 hp.
- Necromantic mastery perk now only works for the first 3 turns of every battle.
- Raise Undead is now cheaper but summons only half the revenants.

Fighter Changes:

- Fixed a bug with the endless fury perk.
- Fixed description for anger build up perk.

Weekly announcement...

Hi guys,

Bad news... :(
One of our laptops was stolen this morning and with it many of the changes we had prepared for this week... so I´m afraid there won´t be a version tonight.

Fortunately we already have everything under control and we should be able to return back to normal next week. So I´m confident we´ll be able to upload the next version on sunday without delay.

Thanks for your understanding!

Weekly Announcement and v078

Hello all!

Today's update adds the missing Hunter training, that should help beginner players get more familiar with the inner workings of this class, and you can also unlock a new item for the Hunter by completing the training, as with the other trainings.

On top of that, we've also added 3 subclasses for the Hunter -the Amazon, the Arbalist and the Changeling- and a new subclass for the Wizard, the Enchantress.

Coming up next are the last two end-game items and some more subclasses. See you next week!

Bug Fixes

-Fixed a bug that made the Shadow Crown unavailable for the Rogue after unlocking it.
-Fixed a bug that caused the game to soft lock after checking the levels and perks list at the beginning of a fight.

Weekly Announcement and v077!

Hello all!

This week's update introduces the long awaited multi-choice leveling up perks!
From now on, when leveling up, you will get to pick one of 3 different perks, allowing you to create highly specialized builds for your character.

This new feature applies to all classes and we think it will make runs even more interesting.
Coming up next week is the Hunter's training which is still missing from the game's tutorials, and soon to come after are the remaining end-game items as well as the Hunter subclasses.

Weekly Announcement and v076!

Hello all!

This week we bring to you 4 new end game items: 2 for the Mountains and 2 for the Forest. We have 2 other items in mind but these will be implemented in a later update.
So without further ado here's a peek at those new items:

Mountain items

Bag of Riches

This bag is filled with what seems to be an unlimited amount of coins. It's quite heavy but with it you will never have to worry about gold anymore.

Dragon Whistle

This whistle allows you to fly a tamed dragon anywhere you want when starting a new game, provided the area has open skies and that you have completed the dungeon at least once. Having a dragon around surely is useful for combat too.

Forest items

Iolo the Bard

This world famous poet accepts following you in your adventures after you kill the Beast. He can sing ballads for you, but most importantly he can carry your stuff around, allowing you to switch gear inbetween areas.

Georg the Merchant

This nomad merchant has all sorts of useful goods in store. After you kill the Beast he will accept to follow you and open his shop for you anywhere you might need it. He will also give some free samples from time to time, just to remind you to check out his wares.

And as usual, we also have a bunch of balance changes:

General Changes:

- Fixed many enemies that where showing immunity to acid.

Rogue Changes:

- Fixed a bug with the Bone Charm not making distant enemies unaware.
- Fixed typo with the Obsidian Shards.
- Disk Parry now blocks an additional 1, no longer stuns and deals +1 dmg.
- Disk Throw costs +1 stamina when not on chain.
- Disk Throw now has armor piercing 1 and deals -2 dmg when on chain.
- Disk Throw now costs only 2 disk energy.
- Disk max energy has been increased to 2.
- Brigand Armor now generates charges that block dmg automatically.
- Leather Jacket now generates charges that block dmg automatically.
- Obsidian Shards now regenerate all uses after every battle.
- Rapid Throw now has armor piercing 2.
- Multiple Throw now has armor piercing 2 and costs -1 stamina and deals -2 dmg when on chain.
- Poison Darts now have 6 charges instead of 3 and regenerate 2 charges per combat.
- Harpy Cloak no longer restores stamina.
- Assassination School now has a new card: Vanish, and starts every battle hidden.
- Killing Blow now is immune to dmg on contact and deals +4 dmg.
- Slime Jars now deal +2 dmg and poison +2 and can stack.

EDITS

- Uploaded a patch to fix the Dragon Whistle not working properly (v076a)

Weekly announcement and v075!

Hi All!

This week's update is more of a small patch with a few balance changes and bug fixes.

Behind the scenes, we're still working on implementing more end-game items for the Mountains and Forest. We'll release most of those next week.

Here's a peek at the Forest ones:

We're also planning to add interesting changes to the level-up system: when levelling up, instead of getting only one specific perk you will get to chose one from a small set.

There's still some work to do before this is ready so we should have it done for the update after next week's.

Now, for this week's changes:

Hunter Changes:

- Recall Arrows now costs 1 stamina less on chain.
- Fixed a bug with the cleansing decoction.

Fighter Changes:

- Bash and Crush now deal +2 extra dmg.

Wizard Changes:

- Soul Shield costs 1 less stamina.

Bug Fixes

- Fixed a bug that made Spinner web spit attack to be impossible to dodge
- Fixed a bug with the Spider Huntress that happened when it got damaged enough from poison while being hidden to trigger another hiding special move. Now the Huntress will only go back into hiding if it is not hidden.
