Carp Fishing Simulator

v2.0.0 build 20

Build 20 fixes the resolution issue some of you were having.

I'm still looking in to the blank screen issue. I've disabled the screen fade for now, please let me know if you have any more issues when catching or releasing the fish.

How to play v1 of Carp Fishing Simulator

Many of you have asked how to play v1, which had more features than the state of v2.

Here's how.

1. Open your game library in Steam.
2. Right Click Carp Fishing Simulator in the list on the left.
3. Select properties
4. Select the BETAS tab on the far right of the properties window.
5. Select 'Old_v1_version - Old version of Carp Fish Sim'
6. Click close in the bottom right of the window.

The old version should now download. Please note that v1 of carp Fish Sim is no longer being updated.

If you'd like to switch to the latest version, follow the above instructions again but select 'opt out' from the list.

v2.0 build 19

Build 19 fixes issues with catching fish, particularly the blank screen after catching 2 fish.

Also added is visual fx options to the options menu. You can now turn on or off various fx. If you're on a slow PC you might want to turn all fx off for better in game performance.

Let me know how you get on and don't forget to hit F12 and post your biggest catches to Steam!

Beta v2.0 build 18

This update addresses the fish, of lack of them being caught. I've fixed some bugs in the fish AI that was stopping them taking your bait. They're now much easier to catch, too easy in fact. This is so i can gather your feedback on the playing, landing and releasing of the fish.

The image FX are also a work in progress, some like it, some don't so I'll include options to turn it on or off in the options menu. Turning it off should also improve performance a little for those playing on laptops.

v2 beta 17 is public build.

In order to keep moving forwards, the latest v2 beta build (17) and any future builds are now the default build and all players will automatically download the new version.

What this means is that we'll have more people testing the new version and hopefully giving feedback.

If you were on the public beta, you'll need to change back to the 'No beta' option in order to download the default version. The public beta has been removed so will no longer be updated.

If you would like to play the old v1 version, you still can for now, until the v2 version is out of beta, here's how you do it:

Open Steam
Open the Library tab
Right click on Carp Fishing Simulator in list on the left
Select properties from the menu
Select the Betas tab at the top
From the drop down menu, select old_v1_version - Old version of CFS

The old version will now be downloaded. Please note you cannot have the beta & the old version at the same time.

v2.0.0 Beta (build 16) Now available

It's been a long time coming due to summer getting in the way of working full time.

Anyway, v2.0.0 Beta (build 16) has just gone live.

There's been a fair amount of changes that you probably won't notice. Here's a little summary of what's changed that you will notice.

Netting the fish - You can now net the fish. Press the L key on keyboard or the X button on controller. You'll notice your arm now holds the net, when you press the button again you'll drop the net, it doesn't matter where it is when you pick it back up, it'll appear in your hand, this was a conscious decision to try and eliminate frustration when netting fish. Also, you need to be holding the landing net in order to net the fish. It will be no longer possible for a fish to be netted without you holding it.

Releasing a fish - This is still a work in progress. After netting a fish, the screen will fade out and the fish will be in your unhooking mat/cradle. To view the fish walk over to it and you can look at it. When you want to release the fish press the I key or B button. At the moment looking at and releasing the fish is missing a lot of features but at least you can catch and release fish now.

Playing fish - A lot of tweaks have been made to the way fish fight, please leave your feedback in the community as we'd love to hear what you think.

v2 Beta version now available

Hi everyone,

The v2 beta version is now available but before you jump right in, I'd like to take this opportunity to explain a few things about it.

1. Please don't download it if you're not willing to provide CONSTRUCTIVE and MEANINGFUL feedback.

2. There is much less gameplay in the beta version, only common carp of only one size are catchable. You cannot select your bait or tackle yet.

3. You can Run, walk and creep which is called stealth. You will spook the fish if you run or if you walk and are near them. You will not spook them if you use stealth.

4. Once a fish is tired it will stay at the edge of the lake near your feet. At the moment you can't land it and so you'll need to quit & restart the game. I'll be working on landing mechanics next week.

5. Online mode kind of works. There's some issues to please report what you find in the steam community. Press T whilst online lets you chat. Press T and then escape closes the chat window.

That's about it for now, here's how to download the beta:

Open Steam find Carp Fishing Simulator in your library list on the left, right click it and select properties. You should see this window:

Go to the Beta tab on the far right and select the Beta from the drop down list.

It should start downloading. If you want to return to playing the normal release, you'll need to do the same but select 'opt out of beta' and you'll redownload the old version.

Have fun.

Create A Bait v3.0.0 now available.

A New version of our bait creation tool 'Create A Bait' is now available for free download from our website http://ddinteractive.co.uk/carpfishsim/create-a-bait-2/

New features include the ability to add company and bait images and a complete user interface redesign.

If you've never used our 'Create A Bait' tool before, it's simple. Give your bait a name, a company name & description, change the colour of it, add images and as many flavours as your imagination will allow. Behind the scenes Create A Bait works it's magic and your saved baits can be used in Carp Fishing Simulator and shared with friends online.

Update v1.0.3 - New Fish: PIKE

Due to a lot of requests I've added Pike as the new species. To fish for them you'll need to use one of the 3 new Deadbaits from the 'Other' folder in your bait selection menu. Only Pike, Perch and Catfish will take a Deadbait so for those of you wanting to target the predators in the lake you can now do so. This is a work in progress so at the moment there isn't any 'Pike tackle' such as traces and treble hooks, so for now just set up as you would for Carp but use a deadbait.

Also in this update I've tweaked the new water, please let me know what you think so far.

Tight lines.

v1.0.2 Now available

v1.0.2 addresses some issues.

Firstly the water bug where some players have none. I've tried to replicate this but non of my systems are having the issue so I've added new water, which hopefully will work on those players systems who are having issues, it's not as nice to look at as the old water yet but it's better than no water at all.

The old water is still in the game and you'll notice below the option to select your start month there is a checkbox to enable/disable the new water. If you have no issues with the old water you don't need to change it, just leave it unchecked and you'll be fine.

Secondly players we're reporting that the game hangs at a blank screen after clicking play. What is really happening is the game is loading but taking longer than usual due to their system. I've added a loading screen so players are not confused by the black screen.
