Carsteroids

More Music + a Free Game!

Hi! here some news on what is going on:

First of all:

I am working on the Carsteroids Soundtrack Album. It won't be just a copy/paste of all the tracks from the game, I am trying to create a proper album with extended versions and a playlist order to achieve a great sound experience.

"Imagine a dark future, after Earth resources are depleted.
Mankind is gone to the stars. The resource extraction takes place on the Asteroid belt. After the mining age another dark age came. Civil war, Alien encounters, new technology mixes with the old one... They made a mess in the sky.
Imagine to live an adventure in that period of time. Close your eyes."

Hope to let you enjoy this soon!

Second:

if you don't have Carsteroids yet (or if you have it, of course!) you can play the free game C-ZERO (Carsteroids Zero). It is a very arcade spin-off I uploaded to the web. The game is skill based, centered on the V-troopers training ground. I hope you have the right skills to succeed ;)

"You are a recruit of the V-Troopers, the main force of the Asteroid Vesta.
Your duty is to test experimental weapons using a combat car that the enforcers will use on the battlefield.
Your goal is to resist for 150 seconds, planning every shot. Only one rule: Don’t be hit."

C-ZERO is a spin-off, played by the point of view of the V-Troopers, one of the antagonists of the main game Carsteroids.

As always I thank you for the feedbacks, for the kind support and for all the love received!

See you on the Asteroids Belt!

Let's get the ball rolling... v1.0 is live!

Hi pilots,

But that's only the start! The game will receive constant support for the time ahead. So please keep sharing ideas and feedbacks... my ears are always open.

The main addition of this release is the Tournament Mode for the Vs single player: now you can play "carball" against random CPU opponents and win tokens.
Obviously there are also minor additions, you can read the full changelog for details.

Hope you'll enjoy the car adventures on the Asteroid belt.

Goal? - update v0.999

Hi pilots, with this update the v1.0 is getting closer. While testing and adjusting gameplay for a stable version, there's still time for new additions:

[Play ball versus CPU]
No need to wait your friend to sit beside you anymore: now the CPU can be your friend and play car-ball with you. But the cpu can be really challenging sometimes, hope you won't rage quit! Also, the action camera is now active for the vs mode.

[Got hi-score? Leaderboard!]
If you like the old arcades and like to go for the highest score, now you can. The "best scores" leaderboard has been added.
There is also a "total score bonus" that automatically adds at the end of each stage for normal difficulty players. This has been introduced to balance the easy/normal difficulty final scores.

[What's next?]
A new trailer including the new features on its way, plus some gameplay videos on the youtube channel. Game on!

------

0.999 changelog:

- [Vs mode] Now you can play against the cpu.
- [Vs mode] Added camera automatic zoom.
- Leaderboard for best scores is now on.
- Bonus to total score on normal difficulty.

Optionals - update 0.998x

Hi everyone, with this update I added the "options" page in the title screen where you can set the difficulty level, toggle on/off the music and set the display to windowed or fullscreen.

I added also the final stage for the 3rd unlockable pilot. With this last addition all the unlockable pilots' stories are complete. Every character has a personal objective and an exclusive final fight from now.

I am at moment on heavy testing (performance optimization and bugfixing) while still having time for adding some new features (a new enemy and a new powerup), new sounds and updating some graphics.
The new powerup (Detector) is similar to the previous "Deadly Disc" but it acts as a defensive powerup aiming at mines, bombs and barrels that heavily damage your car on contact.

Lastly, a new updated video is on the way. The road to the version 1.0 is shorter...

------

0.998x complete changelog:

- New final stage for the 3rd unlockable pilot.
- New enemy: Security Drone.
- New ending added.
- New power-up: Detector.
- Options page added (difficulty, music, display).
- Easy difficulty explained.
- Stats page & VS page have a new background.
- Added "deploy sounds" for mines and bombs.
- Added sounds to the main menu and the intros.
- Performance optimization.
- Minor changes/additions.
- Bugfixing.

Sharp action! - update 0.998

Hello pilots, with this update I added some new features for an improved and more various gameplay:

The first one is the new action camera. The layout view is now automatically zoomed in/out to better follow the main fight. I think this feature adds more dynamicity to the car combat, hope you'll like it.

The second feature is a new arena pickup: the Deadly Disc. It is dropped by the normal crates and it consists in a flying disc (or saucer?) that flies beside your car and shoots at your opponents. It has limited bullets, after they're depleted it'll fly away.

The final character has been released. He is a close-combat fighter with an installed Energy Blade and an automatic Heal System which slowly recovers the vehicle's energy.
With this character you'll experience a different way of playing the game because he is really powerful, but the Blade drains energy from your car so you won't have unlimited shots anymore. He can also buy a ranged weapon in the shop just in case you don't prefer the close combat. You can unlock him on completing the main player's "bad ending".
I'll add this player's story with a next update.

Another new feature worth to mention is that you now may jam your weapon if you use it improperly. If you press the fire button and the reload button at the same time (too many times!) your weapon might jam.

Thank you very much for your support. I hope you'll report any bug and/or post any thoughts about Carsteroids. Game on!

On fire! - Update 0.997R

Hello! Introducing a new unlockable player with this update: The Redeemer, a fanatic competitor with a very particular mission. You can unlock him after collecting 1000 tokens.

The Redeemer has his personal story (as the other characters) with a unique intro, a final fight and a unique ending. Armed with the Spread Shot as primary weapon, his modified car has a secondary fire mode: a powerful flamethrower. You can activate it by keeping down the fire button. He also comes with a unique weapon to buy in the shop: The fireball.

Everything in contact with flames can trigger an "on fire" status. When something is on fire receives a constant damage for some seconds. The flames can not be blocked or deflected by shields.

I also made some adjustments to the difficulty levels and to the enemy AI. There is still much to do, but for the moment I hope you'll enjoy!

Bossing around - Update v0.996

I also made lots of game balancing, bugfixing and cosmetic adjustments for the festivities! :D

Orbiting and Bonusing - Update v0.995h

Hi everyone, with the last update I added a new passive weapon (Orbiter), another bonus stage (no.4) and made some gameplay adjustments.

My main goal is to make every playtime different from the previous one and obviously more enjoyable.

The Orbiter is spawned by the crates in the main arena and creates four energy spheres orbiting around your car. Every sphere causes 2-6 contact damage to your adversaries, it can deflect enemy bullets and it's destroyed on collision.
I find it useful when the stage is full of mines and the orbiter destroys the mines before you touch them.

Stage bonus 4 is a horizontal shoot'em up stage where you earn money as usual. You have to pick up coins and shoot barrels to increase your money bonus. Coins also increase your coin counter.
You can accelerate to increase speed and reduce the quantity of the obstacles. The stage is over if your counter is zero or your car touches a barrel.

Hoping to get your feedback:
