Cash Crop

Version 0.46 Irrigation AI, Spectator Mode, and Reputation

Oh boy, do we have a patch for you! While work continues on the Stores & Street Dealers content update, we got some other improvements ready for prime-time. Read on for details...

New Features

- Crew AI has been upgraded to use sprinklers. Your quirky crew finally got the hang of juggling sprinklers on and off. When plants need water, available crew members will prefer to use near-by sprinklers before resorting to hand watering. Crew will operate one sprinkler at a time, but will later be upgraded to operate more.
- Spectator Mode/Farm View: Ready to let your farm run itself? Use the new button in the upper righthand corner to go into Spectator Mode. Doing so puts ALL crew under AI control and detaches your camera for tycoon style gameplay – freeing you to manage contracts, research, wholesale, and think about your farm as a whole.
- Reputation: Do you treat your clients and vendors well, or do you haggle for every penny you can get? Your farm now has a Reputation score (0 – 100) which changes based on the Contract terms you demand. Building a positive reputation rewards you with access to more, and better, contracts. While being disliked results in fewer people offering you work. You can find this information in the Contracts menu.

Improvements

- Contractors respond in real-time while you negotiate terms, emoting complaints like “I’ll have to run this by my boss.” when terms are too aggressive and “I can’t believe this deal!” when you offer generous terms.
- Reputation and inventory indicators added to saved game files
- “Weeks remaining” of cash is now displayed on your cash balance tooltip.
- Adjusted the inventory panel for better visibility while the Contracts and other menus are open.
- Crew names and current AI duty is now displayed on their portrait’s tooltip.
- Savvy replanting: Crew now que up seeds to replant after they harvest, returning to replant after trimming is complete.
- Crew occasionally take spontaneous actions; topping off water or fertilizer levels, instead of taking breaks.
- Text message warning when your farm’s Heat climbs above 40.
- Text message notification when new Contracts are available.

Bug Fixes

- Fixed an exploit which let players MIN/MAX Contract negotiations for arbitrary profits.
- Fixed a bug which broke Matthias and Heady’s images on saved games.

Known Issues

- The Field view will not resize to accommodate very large plots.
- The Field view may get confused when the DEA confiscates plants.

Version 0.45.5 Summer the Plumber & A Sneak Peak

New Features

- New character, Summer! She’s the kind of plumber that makes Mario look bad. Summer starts with all irrigation techs unlocked and a small stash of cash.
- New Farm Status UI: Farm Status UI has been reworked to make Heat and Strikes more prominent. Removed some redundant text and changed the color scheme. The overall UI is smaller as well

- Text Messages (Passive Notifications): This is a step towards a notification queue and is great for communicating information to the player without interrupting you with a phone call. Complete with scrolling text, and vibrating sfx and animation. Will add a small portrait too, at some point.

Coming Soon

- Open stores and hire dealers. For a small investment they sell your bud so you don't have to - providing passive income but with their own twists. Keep your stores well staffed and stocked so they remain profitable while your dealers sling bud on the down-low. We plan to great expand this gameplay in the future.

Waterworks Update - Coming Soon

Hey Fellow Farmers,

We’re getting closer to the next Cash Crop update. In this patch, we’re improving the irrigation system so you can install water sources for your sprinklers and hoses anywhere on your farm.

Gone are the days of being tethered to your trailer’s single water spigot, running yards of expensive piping between fields – instead you can spread out and design your irrigation systems in whatever way you’d like.

More info to come as the patch gets closer – stay tuned!
