Help Us Decide What To Work On Next

Hey Cash Croppers,

While we're working on the much-requested Character Selector, we wanted to check in with you guys to ask what you'd like to see us work on next.

Option 1 - More Tools:
Add more fun tools for taking care of your plants. We'll create a variety of tools including buckets, watering pails, extended reach trimmers, and more. Buckets let you throw water onto your plants which splashes, watering nearby plants. The watering pale and improved trimmers let you reach plants further away.

Option 2 - Improved Equipment and Hardware:
We revamp equipment and hardware. Fields become point, click, drag, so you can build fields with the exact dimensions you'd like. While expanding irrigation with more sprinklers, and improved hoses/spigots.

Option 3 - Crew, AI and RPG play:
Crew get some more love. We add "leveling up" or similar mechanics to crew, so that they have specializations which improve with use over time. We also take a pass at assigning crew to specific fields, or farms.

Option 4 - Pests, Disease, Weather:
We add more gameplay around random weather events, pests (such as fungus gnats, rats, and birds), and other baddies who can wreck your harvest. Place traps, chase off animals with your hose, build scarecrows shades, and tarps to deal with the challenges of outdoor growing (rain, wind, fog, and storm effects.)

If we don't hear a strong opinion from you guys this week, we'll probably start work on click-and-drag fields.

P.S. Oh and here's a (draft) mock-up of the character select screen.

Cash Crop Update! Version 0.25.3 Is Live

The feedback we’ve received this week has been invaluable. We re-worked the economy, removed some frustration points you guys identified, as well as adding a wholesale marketplace and fixing a handful of nefarious bugs.

Read on for patch notes and please direct bug reports and feedback here.

Cheers!

New Features/Updates

- Wholesale Marketplace! Got some leftover Snicklefritz hanging around? Plies of Purple Urkle? Now you can sell bud on the open market! Hire the marketer to access the wholesale marketplace. Access the marketplace by clicking on your bud inventory icon (bottom left-hand corner of your screen).

Quality of Life Changes

- Colas no longer need to be manually harvested. They will be scooped up along with loose buds after you harvest your plants.
- Rebalancing harvest to favor more bud and less colas. Instead of needing to harvest a bunch of colas, it has been reworked to be mostly the bud pickups and colas will be a rare spawn that contains bonus bud.
- Each plant’s needs have been rebalanced to make them easier, especially in the early game - as well as more distinct from the other strains.
- The cost to hire the Agronomist and Manager have been significantly reduced.
- Reoccurring costs (farm lease, field upkeep, worker payroll) have been set to $0. Some players were able to reach unwinnable states. We’ll readdress reoccurring costs later when the economy is more developed.

- Contract reward bug! We have located another set of edge cases that cause contracts to not properly complete when finishing an any strain contract.
- Fixed a bug where you would be unable to quit to main menu on game over screens.

Known Issues

- Sprinklers may occasionally conflict with plants, when they occupy the same tile.
