Cavity Busters Update 35 patch 5

Hiya! I have another batch of fixes and tweaks. Mainly minor stuff. Enjoy! :)


  • fixed a bug where gob upgrade would lock doors on a loop
  • fixed bug where gob upgrade would lose effect when looping
  • fixed bug where ammo upgrades wouldnt spawn on a loop
  • fixed a few bugs with jam boss where it would take longer than usual for the second phase head to drop
  • increased the chance for ammo room to spawn
  • you can no longer teleport out of room when the shop keeper appears
  • nerfed shop keeper a little bit

Cavity Busters Update 35 patch 4

Due to the volume of new players, a lot more bugs where discovered with the level generation. It's much more stable now. The game was also migrated into a more current version of the program that was used to make Cavity Busters. This always causes some glitches and other oddities. I'm pretty sure I found most of them but as many of you have come to realize, I miss stuff. And as always, I fixed a few spelling errors :D

Cavity Busters Update 35 patch 3

Hello! This patch addresses a few things but most importantly another bad crash with level generation. Thanks for your patience as I work out the kinks!


  • fixed a crash on level generation
  • fixed achievement 1_CC to unlock properly
  • lowered the limit on the size dungeons can be. this is to prevent eventual slowdown
  • fixed tutorial prompts showing the wrong button
  • fixed spelling errors
  • Dronk boss room now has button prompts for computer input

Cavity Busters Update 35 hotfix 2

Hiyaa! Got another patch to address a nasty bug that could crash the game when going to a new level. Not good. But in the long run level generation should be much more fail proof. And just a few little things here and there that I came across.


  • fixed a crash with level generation and made level generation more fail proof
  • fixed a bug where leaving character select screen would disable the pause menu
  • changed the text for a character unlock to be more clear
  • changed the text of an upgrade to be more clear
  • adjusted the amount of times need to kill a secret boss to get its xray

This is just a small patch to address a few little things.


  • boderless window option is now cleaner looking
  • next shot upgrades wont be overridden when picking up another tooth
  • lowered the hp of brain wash
  • brain wash bullets no longer have a poison effect

Cavity Busters Leaving Early Access!



Hello everyone! This is an exciting one. Cavity Busters is leaving early access today! Couldn't have done it without everyone's feedback and support. So what does that mean for CB? And what's next?

Next for Cavity Busters
Content wise, Cavity Busters is complete. However this doesn't mean that support will end for CB. I could tweak and nerf this monster forever but what's the fun in that? If any serious balance issues occur, they will be addressed. And I won't hesitate to add new upgrades and what not down the road. But that will be less frequent.

Next Game
In my spare time I've been working on something else! It's quite different from Cavity Busters. It's a more traditional roguelike, with turn based movement, but with some real time elements as well. It's still in the early stages but I post occasional gifs of it on my twitter. That's all I'll say about that for now. :)

What's New:

Changes:

  • changed one of the shmup enemies pattern
  • the names of enemies is now hidden in the bestiary if locked
  • changed the layout of the hub room
  • one jerk boss attacks was nerfed just a little for performance issues
  • nerfed rock ammo


Bugs and Fixes:

  • fixed a text bug with loose tooth upgrade
  • fixed a bug with exchange monster making player roll infinitely
  • fixed a crash that would happen when player would interact with exchange monster with no items
  • fixed a bug where filling gummy would get stuck on a walls
  • fixed a bug where player could get stuck in a wall after beating a certain boss
  • fixed a bug where one of the badges on the save profile wouldnt fill out properly
  • fixed a bug where enemies that don't have alt bullet patterns would display that they do
  • fixed menus being open when other interfaces are open
  • fixed a bug where you play ortho II level twice after loosing some of gobs teeth
  • fixed several bugs with eye boss body segments spawning things it shouldnt
  • fixed a bug where controller binding would get reset to default buttons




I went to the dentist this past week, so I had to ask for the xray. I also had a ct scan which produced a 3D image of my mouth, which looked amazing. I couldn't get a hold of that one unfortunately :(

Cavity Busters Update 34

Hello everyone! Welcome the weekend and another update :) This update is kinda on the smaller side as I would normally work on it for another week. But I'll be gone next week so I wanted to get this out today. But still some good stuff in this one!

Lore and Bestiary Entries
I added a handful of bestiary entries as well as new dialogue for Gob. Writing lore is tough. I try to keep it simple and not get too wordy. Lore is there if you want it but easy enough to skip through it. So I have a proposition to those that enjoy lore and more specifically enjoy Cavity Busters lore. Are you interested in writing an entry for a single enemy in the bestiary? I'd send you a list of the ones that still need an entry, and you would pick the one you'd like to write for. Of course I'd get final say and you would get a mention in the credits for writing. Let me know! If you're on the games discord it'll be easier to get in touch and talk specifics.

What's New

  • added a new entry to the manuel for booping enemies
  • regular enemies now have a small chance of dropping an bestiary entry once you've killed a number of them
  • added an option to toggle shmup shooting to control options
  • added new bestiary entries
  • gob has more text and will say a few new things when you talk to him after a run
  • gob upgrades are granted when defeating final shmup boss
  • letting go of shoot button in shmup mode will attract upgrade goop to you
  • two new upgrades (for a total of 274!)


Changes

  • nerfed orifice
  • explosive diarrhea no longer takes effect in shmup mode
  • when enemies take damage or are stunned, instead of flashing solid colors, there is some opacity so you can see enemies more clearly
  • bullet indicators now have a little movement to them
  • updated some bestiary entries


Bug Fixes

  • fixed a bug where jams second phase head would fly off the screen really fast and take for ever to come back
  • fixed bug that would happen from booping enemies on a wall
  • fixed a bug where a big tooth would register as hitting a wall while shooting against a wall
  • fixed a bug where boss jam would not drop bestiary entry
  • fixed bug where stat decreasing tentacle would push player into a wall

Ok this DOES fix the slow down issue. Pretty sure. :)


  • made combo meter stop when in shmup mode
  • really fixed slow down (i'm good at this) ːsteammockingː
  • fixed bug with tooth gummy and glass tooth shot
  • nerfed room where two shiv mini bosses would spawn, down to two

Cavity Busters Update 33 hotfix 1

Just a small patch to address a nasty bug slowing down the game.

  • fixed a bug that caused severe FPS drop when transitioning to shmup mode (not fixed)
  • fixed a bug where music from shmup would keep playing if the game was restarted during shmup mode
  • wild wild tooth now synergizes with loose tooth upgrade

Cavity Busters Update 33

Hello! How's everyone? Here's a regular sized update this week. I'm gonna hopefully stick with a bi-weekly or weekly update schedule as I'm hoping to push a lot of polish updates. So here's the first round of polish!

Shmup Mode Changes
I also separated shorter rounds from the shmup mode. Shorter rounds will now be an unlockable game mode. As always though, you can access it right away by going into the accessibility options. And now, if shorter rounds is turned off there will be a small shmup wave of enemies between levels where you can gain some goodies by playing it well! Some of you might recognize the enemies from another game of mine. :)

A note about performance:
I made some changes that should help performance. Specifically for people who use monitors with refresh rates higher then 60hz. But you'll have to let me know. Did performance get better? And more importantly, did it get worse? ːtrazzː

  • tried a few things that hopefully help with preformance
  • first shmup boss will now stay above a certain level on the screen
  • lowered the requirements to unlock tongue gummy
  • give sound to picking up zits
  • shorter rounds is now seperate from the new shmup mode
  • hypothermia II no longer takes affect when you're in shmup mode
  • enemies now have a brief delay before they can cause contact damage when entering a room
  • tumor garden slowly pushes away pickups that are touching it
  • phlegm upgrade now refills your goop up to 100 if below at the start of a new level
  • added a bit of polish to controller use. still needs more


Fixes

  • fixed toilet paper upgrade from destroying bullets in wrong room
  • fixed a bug where shooting eyeborgs second phase with rock ammo would crash the game
  • fixed a bug where eyeborgs second phase body would freeze constantly. now only it's head can freeze
  • fixed certain enemies starting out invisible
  • fixed a handful of bugs connected with transitioning to shmup mode
  • fixed a bug where picking up mad cow disease would cause previously cured diseases that are obtained from tumor garden to come back
