Chicken Invaders Universe

Early Access version 106

The main change in this update is the capability to cycle special weapons during a mission. This feature has been missing from day one, but there were certain implementation details that made it difficult to add. I've now bitten the bullet and re-worked the necessary parts, so there you have it. You'll need to set up two more controls to cycle forwards/backwards through special weapons (due to this, all your Options have been sadly reset in this update).

There are also improvements to touch screen control, which should be fully functional now. If you have a touch screen, please report your experiences here.

Early Access version 105

Another small update with many quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes, but also with some new experimental content in the form of the Accumulator weapon booster. Here’s how it works:


  • The charge slowly increases on its own with time
  • The charge also increases by damaging enemies (damage is normalized, so this effectively means “by number of kills”)
  • The charge rate is non-linear – it starts off slowly and speeds up (to encourage saving up for a full charge)
  • Double-tap and hold to activate (similar to Overdrive).
  • While activated, no heat is generated.
  • While activated, the firing rate is increased exactly in the same way as with Overdrive.
  • While activated, the charge is slowly depleted. You can cease activation at any point and any remaining charge will be preserved. You can immediately activate it again. However, see next point.
  • After you cease activation, charging will not restart immediately; there will be a ‘dead’ period to discourage repeated stop/starts.

Early Access version 104

A small update with many quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. The Galactic Cup is now shorter by about a week, and a very elusive multiplayer bug has been squashed after chasing after it for 4 months.

Early Access version 103

This is a minor update to consolidate any improvements and bug fixes up to this point, as development will be suspended for the next 2-3 weeks. Nevertheless, it does include some cosmetic changes to all spacecraft (VF-class in particular), and also some important changes to weapon balancing (the Corn Shotgun in particular).

Early Access version 102

MAIN CHANGES

A new spacecraft family! Black and sleek and nimble. And, not entirely finalized in its special abilities, so don’t get overly attached to it (yet)! A lot of balancing changes have been also made to practically all existing spacecraft – check the log below for details. Sadly, as part of those changes, all hardpoints and all satellite slots have been emptied, so you’ll need to manually re-mount your equipment.

Overdrive has been moved to its own “Booster” slot, and needs to be manually mounted to take effect. There aren’t any other alternatives for now, but there soon will be. The first one to come will be based on a charge/discharge mechanic.

Barring any emergency fixes, development will be suspended over the next few weeks. We’ll be back as soon as possible!

Early Access version 101

A lot of little fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Also, this update includes the second part of the spacecraft balancing changes (some of these changes might significantly affect the way you play the game – check the changelog for details). More balancing to come in the next update.

Early Access version 100

It’s been a while since v.99, so this is in many ways a long update. However, it’s also not a “complete” update: re-balancing changes made to spacecraft are still ongoing. Since they require extensive technical changes to underlying systems, they will be rolled out progressively. Things should settle by v.101 or v.102. Important changes:


  • You can now leave and re-join the League.
  • As part of spacecraft re-balancing, all owned BX-6 spacecraft have been automatically upgraded to BX-7 (of equivalent rarity). Satellites and hardpoints have been emptied, and must be re-mounted manually.

  • The sound library has been updated. If you notice any looping sounds playing after they should have stopped, please report it immediately.

Early Access version 99

More Christmas content! Network performance during multiplayer games has been improved in this update. There’s one major multiplayer bug remaining: the underlying cause has been identified, but the circumstances under which it manifests are still unclear. Also, in order to fix a separate bug, all mission slots have been emptied in this update.
